How Tight Should the Castle Nut be When Installing a Trailer Hub or Hub and Drum Assembly
Published 10/26/2017 >
Question:
What is the porper Torque spec for the hub nut? Does it go to a certain torque and then is it backed off a certain amount? I am installing all new bearings also. I usually would spin the assembly as I am tightening to properly set the bearings. If you have a different procedure let me know.

What our installers do is tighten the castle nut with channel locks then back it off. He does this several times to ensure it is all the way on then backs it off one notch to the next nearest slot for the pin or tang washer. I have linked an installation video below showing this.
