Timbren Axle-Less Suspension Recommendation for M1101 Trailer

Updated 02/25/2025 | Published 05/29/2022

Question:

I have an M1101 trailer that I am planning to rebuild and im interested in a Timbren axle-less suspension that will accommodate 35” tires on 17” wheels with a width of 12”. I would like to use 5x5 hubs with electric brakes. What products do you recommend for this project?

From my available specs on your M1101 trailer, it has a maximum vehicle weight of 3,400 pounds. It also looks like it uses off-road tires.

With that capacity and tire type, we only carry 2,000 pound Timbren Axleless systems that are compatible with the 5 on 5 bolt pattern you need. That is the # ASR2KHDS09. The hubs that go along with this are the # 84556UC3-EZ. With this system, you will be limited to a 2,000 pound weight capacity.

As far as brakes, I always recommend Nev-R-Adjust assemblies # 23-468-469. With these brakes, you do not need to worry about manually adjusting the shoes as they go through normal wearing.

I went ahead and attached some helpful videos for you to check out.

Bob, I was looking into axle less as well for an m1101, what would you recommend to keep it as close to standard capacity, lug dimensions don’t matter to me.

@KyleD Hello Kyle. Making the switch to Axle-less is a great choice for the M1101. I am finding that the M1101 has a standard axle rating of around 3,500 to 4,200 lbs. If your axle is rated for 3,500 you will want the # ASR3500S05, unless you are going to be using it offroad then you will want the heavy duty # TASR35HDS04. If you go with the # ASR3500S05 standard duty, for hubs you will want the # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K which will give you a 5 on 41/2" bolt pattern, and for brakes # AKEBRK-35-SA. If you go with the # TASR35HDS04 heavy duty, for hubs you will want the # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K which would give you a 6 on 5 1/2" bolt pattern, and for brakes # AKEBRK-7-SA. The reason why the set-ups are different is because the HD version # TASR35HDS04 is made with a more beefy spindle which is why it needs higher rated parts. Also please keep in mind *This Axle-Less system requires crossbeam support. If your trailer frame doesn't have a crossmember in place, you can retrofit it with one, or you can add a support by running a piece of 2" x 3" steel tubing through the square holes cut into these units. You could also add a steel reinforcement bracket to the inside of the trailer frame. If your axle rating is higher than 3,500 pounds please let me know so I can get you the higher rated parts. Do you plan on using your set-up for offroad adventures?
