If you’re tired of dealing with rusted drum brakes or weak stopping power, this Kodiak kit is a big step up. The stainless steel rotors, calipers, and brackets deliver smooth, even braking with dramatically shorter stopping distance than drums. Each 10" rotor slips over your idler hub and is held in place by your wheel bolts, so there’s no need to replace the whole hub-and-rotor assembly. It fits 3,500-lb axles with 14" or larger wheels and a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, giving you reliable braking even at highway speeds.
Saltwater and corrosion are the downfall of most trailer brakes. This kit solves that with rustproof 304 stainless steel rotors, calipers, and mounting brackets. Every component is designed for extended marine use and rated for 1,000 hours of salt-spray exposure. After a season of saltwater launches, users noted that the parts still looked almost new. Stainless pistons and hardware mean you can rinse and go without worrying about corrosion damage.
Heat buildup can lead to fade and warped rotors. The vented rotor design moves air efficiently through the core to prevent heat-related damage, while the low-drag caliper design retracts the piston farther for cooler operation. The stainless piston measures 2-1/4" in diameter—about 30 percent larger than typical models—producing more braking torque for better control under load.
Swapping your old setup is straightforward thanks to Kodiak’s bolt-on design. The slip-on rotors fit right over standard idler hubs, and the stainless steel caliper brackets mount to a standard 4-bolt brake flange. You can remove individual parts for maintenance instead of replacing the entire assembly. Each kit includes two rotors, two calipers, two mounting brackets, and mounting bolts—everything needed to upgrade one axle.
These self-adjusting calipers keep pad pressure balanced on both sides for smooth, equal braking without manual adjustment. The rigid stainless body doesn’t flex like aluminum, so every press of the brake feels solid and consistent. Fewer moving parts mean less maintenance over time and more dependable performance mile after mile.

These Kodiak SS brakes are working fabulous. The boat trailer they are installed on is used in salt water only and they still look like new and function like new.

Glad you make the switch to disc brakes Todd, and went for the stainless especially since you are launching into salt water. What body of water are you mainly going out in? We are located in Missouri so I am out on the Lake of the Ozarks and Mark Twain Lake when I can. I dabble in some local bass tournaments as well.
