Flexible Rubber Brake Hose

This Kodiak brake hose is made of rubber, making it a practical choice for a variety of applications. Because you can easily bend it, a rubber hose is simpler to work with than a rigid stainless steel brake line. This flexibility makes a rubber hose great for use with foldaway trailer tongues because it is less likely to kink or break when bent. In addition, rubber hoses allow for a wide range of motion so articulating parts can effectively function. These qualities make rubber hoses better suited than steel lines for trailers with torsion axle suspension systems and trailers that have disc brakes.

Stainless steel brake lines have braided exteriors, which can not only wear against exterior surfaces, but also against the interior lining of the hose if dirt gets underneath the steel braid. And if the braid on a stainless steel line tears, it can cut into the hose lining. The exterior surface of this hose is solid rubber, so there are no crevices for debris to enter.

Durable Fittings with Deep Threads

Kodiak Hose Flare

Kodiak brake hoses have corrosion-resistant brass fittings with stainless steel flares. These fittings have a gap built into them that allows room for a line wrench - also called a flare nut wrench - to slide over the line and down to the nut. This type of wrench grips the nut better than a standard open-ended wrench so there is less chance of stripping the threads as you tighten down the nut.

The stainless steel that is used to create the flares on this hose is stronger than brass. As a result, these fittings are more durable than ones made entirely of brass. The stainless flares are primarily designed to keep the fittings from splitting when you tighten them down, but they offer absolute rust protection as well.

Kodiak's fittings have deeper threads than many other fittings on the market to provide a higher thread engagement. Deeper threads offer an advantage when used with fittings that have the same thread depth. These Kodiak fittings will work with most fittings on the market, but when they're used with other Kodiak fittings, the result is a stronger connection with fewer leaks.

Video Transcript for Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Hose Review

Hi there, trailer owners. Today we're going to be taking a look at Kodiak's Flexible Hydraulic Brake Hoses with 3/16 Brake Line Fittings. These are available in either 1' up to 24' in varying sizes. These flexible brake hoses are going to be a great replacement or upgrade for your trailer's existing brake lines or brake hoses. I personally find that installing flexible lines is quite a bit easier than bending and molding new brake lines. So if you have the option to do this, you will appreciate how much easier it is, and I like that they're great for either drum brakes or disc brake systems. We're currently using ours with a brake actuator that has a maximum pressure of 1600 psi and these lines can handle that with no problem.

We're able to handle the extremely high pressures due to our rubberized hoses that meet both DOT and SAE standards and the brass fittings that have double ferrule crimp on the ends. This will ensure a more durable, stronger connection with two points of contact to also ensure that there's no seepage or leakage.I like that they added a small piece of brake line coming out of here. This gap here makes it easy to get your line wrench on there. It fits right over the small line to get onto your nut so you can make sure you get those tightened down properly. You always want to use line wrenches when working with brake hoses or brake lines because the fittings on the end here are made of brass, which is a softer metal than your typical bolts are that you're used to working with.

If you need to set a line wrenches, you can grab a set here at etrailer.com as well. Now that we've covered some of the features, let's go over the installation together so you can get these installed on your trailer.Well, here you can see our predicament. As we we're trying to bleed the brakes, but we noticed we had a brake leak, and our leak was coming from the flex hose that we had that came from our T fitting here to our front axle on our trailer. So I went ahead to go replace the line, and of course the T fitting here broke off inside the line. So we're going to attempt to remove these lines, but based on how this worked out, I'm pretty sure we're going to have to replace all of these lines.

We'll also need to replace our T fitting. Since we're upgrading to flexible lines, we're going to be using a T fitting that has all female ends on it. This is pretty much just going to go right here, but this line and this line are now going to be flexible. It's pretty straight forward on how it would work. You simply unscrew this line and then thread in your new line. But when you get in a situation like this where they're all rusted up, you are likely going to break a line.

You can soak it in some penetrating oil and then slowly try it over time. Sometimes you can get it free without busting it loose, and other times you just have to replace it. We're kind of at the point where we need to replace ours due to corrosion. So this line is essentially going to go here. Our lines are going to thread into our T, and they are just going to route where our old lines used to be. I'm going to go ahead and bust these lines off here now, and then we'll show you what it looks like when we've got the new ones on.This is what our replacement is going to look like. We've replaced the T-fitting here and we've hooked our flexible lines into it. We're using various length flexible lines to achieve this. We have our 7' coming out the side of the T here, going back to our rear axle. We've used a 1-1/2' to go to the brake hose for our front axle here and then a 15' flexible that goes all the way out to the brake actuator at the front of the trailer. They attach using the brass nuts at the end. The ends of our flexible brake hoses are already pre-flared for you. So you simply thread it into your T fitting, your brake caliper, your brake actuator, wherever you need to thread it into as long as it accepts fittings for a 3/16 brake line.Once you've completed replacing your lines, all that's left now is to bleed the brakes. Top up your brake fluid, you'll pressurize it, and then an assistant can open the bleeder valve at the caliper to let the fluid out and get all the air out of the system. You just simply rinse and repeat at each brake caliper, starting from the furthest one away, and then going to the closest towards your master cylinder. That completes our look at Kodiak's Flexible Hydraulic Brake Hoses.

Double ended rubber brake lines had to find..Used them on my Lowrider. Work Great!!

- bh-3mfs-1-5

Great product, easy to install. This was the first time I reworked the brakes on my fishing boat trailer and It was easier than expected. One year later and continues to work great without defect. Highly recommended.

Ordered this as part of my boat trailer brake overhaul. replace all lines, I added a metal mesh sleeve to avoid rodents from gnawing on the exposed rubber since the trailer sits in a lot most of the time...

I have a 2011 Lund impact 1775 on a Shorelander single axle trailer which tips the scale around 2500# dry. I felt that surge brakes would be a smart investment and take some pressure off my Ford F150 to help stop that beast. I researched kits, actuators, calipers and rotors and decided on the Kodiak caliper and rotor kit and the Titan actuator. eTrailer had both in stock, a convenient hose kit to boot and fair price so I purchased the lot from them. Delivery was very quick and all of the hardware arrived together and in good shape. It took me one afternoon to assemble the actuator on my swing \-away tongue and another to install the calipers and rotors. There was one snag with the hose kit, in that one of the hoses was incorrect. I contacted Bryan at eTrailer and he was very accommodating; rushing the correct hose to me and then following up by phone when I received it. It took about two hours to finish the installation and I couldn't be more pleased, both with the quality of the products and the first-rate service! I have yet to bleed the system and take it out for a run but I don't anticipate any issues. I fully recommend eTrailer, their products and service!

I want to thank you again for your assistance in getting me the correct parts for my trailer brake installation. I took three major road trips with the boat last year and the trailer brakes worked flawlessly. The major reasons I installed the braking system were: the overall weight of the boat and trailer in relationship to my pickup 2006 F150 and braking performance/safety on wet/slick roads. Both of these concerns were tested last year with wonderful results. I have been telling my friends, with similar trailer packages, to investigate your product. Thanks again,

I have a 2001- 38 foot toy hauler fifth wheel. the brakes on it where not the best, I found them to be slow in responding and always having trouble with magnets, and shoes don't last long, I converted it over to Kodiak disk brakes. The straight line did not work well on the drop axles because of the flex of axle over ruff roads. The 90 degree brake hose when put in right place worked like a dream. The straight line I have are being used in the line from pump to the axles. sorry don't have pictures. So all in all love the parts. Thank you very much. PS: sorry it took so long to reply

I replaced a faulty brake line on my boat trailer. This part fit the bill perfect. It came in plenty fast and got me fixed before the weekend! It was well packaged and had cups on the ends protecting the threads and keeping contaminants out. I'm picky about things like that, so was glad to see them on.

It has been 1 year and I continue to have no issues with the brake lines.

1 year review -The Kodiak disc brake system was easy to install, if you have the time and jacks. Took me 1.5 days (10 hours, solo). All parts were high quality and make an unbelievable difference in stopping my 13,000lb 5th wheel. I'm confident in all situations, where before I knew yellow lights or panic stops by folks in front of me could lead to situations where I couldn't stop fast enough. Only issue I had was one of the hydraulic fittings busted during install (probably because I over torqued it). Found a replacement a autozone and was good to go.

Awesome service

The hoses were fine. We live in Montana. The Kodiak calipers on my new, tandem, EZ Loader trailer corroded after two years and only 6 or 7 exposures to salt water (yes I had washed them off). I bought four more calipers (not Kodiak) from EZ Loader ($110 ea with my "discount") and had them installed by professionals. They incorrectly attached the hoses 90 degrees to the calipers and they wore through and one broke. I replaced the hoses with your parts myself. Then two of the replacement calipers started dragging. Due to these frequent failures I have driven my 4,500 # rig from the Florida Keys to Puget Sound and back without any trailer brakes! I have looked at your catalog and consider buying another set of 4 Kodiak calipers and starting over. The stainless cost too much. I have owned over a dozen boat trailers and driven from the Keys to the San Juan's many times and even to Cabo San Lucas once. I have NEVER had trailer problems and repair expenses like this new EZ Loader trailer and the %[email protected]#$ disk brakes. Is this a problem for others? My comments do not relate to the hoses I bought from you. They were fine. Charless

calipers still corroded, hoses are fine

The hose material is great. Very well made, fitting crimps looked excellent, built to my order, fit perfect. Thanks The Brake calipers, disk and mounting brackets are perfect. looks like they may out last my 05 Boat trailer.. :-)

- bh-3mfs-1-5

Worked fine

- bh-3mfs-1-5

looks like the part will work perfectly.

- bh-3mfs-1-5

Very good product.

- bh-3mfs-1-5

The trailer brake lines work very well. They offer a lot of versatility in relation to metal brake lines. They hold a tight hydraulic seal, and don't leak. The 3/8-24 threaded, flared end fittings are industry standard, so matching hardware and adapters can be purchased to adapt these lines to different manufacturers' vehicles/trailers, whether they're made in Asia, Europe, or North America. Thank You

- bh-3mfs-1-5

Installation was easy and length was just right. Bled the system and brake installation was complete great replacement product.

- bh-3mfs-1-5

A hard to find item right the first tim e!!

- bh-3mfs-1-5

Needed to replace a short distance of brake line from the tee to the caliper. This was a lot easier than trying to bend tube, and it was great that it already had the fittings on it that I needed. Drove the trailer 250 miles with no issues. Worked great.

- bh-3mfs-1-5

Perfect fit for my fourwheeler. Exactly what i needed! 10/10 would buy agaib

- bh-3mfs-1-5

Got these hoses in a timely manner. Price is great. Local store wanted a lot more dollars. After checking the hoses out, they are exactly what I needed for the work. Yes they are stainless steel and brass metal parts.

- bh-3mfs-1-5

- BH-3MFS-1-5

Just what I needed. Better than the original because I can get a flare wrench on it. If there are tight bends near the end, you might need a longer hose since the lengthened metal end may extend the run of the hose. Great service by e-Trailer and awesome communication by Madison in helping to obtain the right products on multiple orders and advising as to progress on delivery.

The ends of brake hose # T0776500 are fixed and do not swivel. Normally on the components you are threading this onto one of them would have a swivel so you would thread the hose onto the fixed component first and then attach the end that threads onto the swivel. We also have hose # 18018-SF with a 90 degree bend on one end and the thread piece separate. Kodiak hose # BH-3MFS-1-5 has swivel fittings on both ends and it is 18 inches long so it may be the best option for you.
