I originally bought these brakes a year ago. Recently I had an issue , I called and spoke with Madeline to explain the situation. She could not have been more helpful and understanding. My replacement parts arrived today and I am back in business. What a pleasant experience , I wish all my employees were as helpful and willing to do what the customer needs as Madeline was. Well done, thank you.

  • Can Kodiak Stainless Steel Disc Brake Calipers be Used to Replace Calipers on EZ Loader Boat Trailer
If you have existing Kodiak calipers on your EZ Loader Trailer, then a stainless steel option like the Kodiak # KDBC225S for 3,500 to 6,000 pound axles will work great as a replacement. The stainless steel construction on this unit is ideal for extended marine use and features a 1,000-hour salt-spray rating. • Recommended Replacement Stainless Steel Caliper for Kodiak 225 Series with 12 Inch Rotors
I spoke with my contact at Kodiak and was able to confirm that the Disc Brake Caliper - Stainless Steel # KDBC225S will work perfectly with your existing Kodiak 225 Series with 12 inch rotors. He also stated that you can use your existing bolts without modification but he does recommend using the two new bolts that will come included with the caliper. They should be torqued down to 45 ft-lbs. The stainless steel caliper does include the ceramic brake pads along with an oversize, stainless...

  • Preventative Maintenance for Disc Brake Calipers in Salt Water to Prevent Piston From Sticking
The best maintenance you can do is to keep them rinsed like you are doing. Unfortunately there is nothing else that can be done to prevent them from sticking when it comes to salt water since they are carbon steel and a magnet for corrosion. According to Kodiak, the best thing you can do to prevent them from sticking is to get the stainless steel calipers like the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper - Stainless Steel - 3,500 lbs to 6,000 lbs # KDBC225S.

  • Recommended Replacement Caliper For A Kodiak 225
We do sell the caliper but it will come with pads included. I have three options for you listed below depending on your trailer's application: Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper - Dacromet - 3,500lbs to 6,000lbs # KDBC225DAC. - Dacromet plating provides excellent corrosion resistance for freshwater or saltwater use with a 300- to 400-Hour salt-spray rating. Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper - KodaGuard - 3,500lbs to 6,000lbs # KDBC225KG. - KodaGuard plating provides excellent corrosion resistance for...

  • Will a Kodiak 250 Disc Brake Caliper Fit in Place of a Kodiak 225 Caliper
You should not have any problem fitting the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper, # KDBC250S, in place of the # KDBC225S. The major difference is the piston size (1/4 larger on the 250). The 225 is designed for 3,500 to 6,000 pound axles whereas the 250 is designed for 7,000 to 8,000 pound axles. If the actuator you are using is not rated high enough then it could have problem pushing the piston to apply the brakes.

  • Can Dot 5 Brake Fluid Be Used with Rebuilt Kodiak 225 Brake Calipers?
The Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper 3,500 lbs to 6,000 lbs # KDBC225S and similar finishes will require the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit for 3,500 lb to 6,000 lb Trailer Brakes # KDBC225KIT which will give you all the seals, bolts, bushings, and piston needed. According to Kodiak the 225 and 204 calipers and pads are not interchangeable. As they have discontinued the 204 calipers you will want to upgrade to the 225 Caliper # KDBC225DAC. This particular caliper is Dacromet coated for corrosion resistance. We also have a Stainless # KDBC225S if you will be using around salt water.
