Question:
I am looking to add electric drum brakes to my trailer axle. The axle already has the 4 bolt electric brake flange. From here, Im not real sure what all I would need to make this conversion. Is there a kit or list of parts that I would need to purchase? Is there anything I need to verify on my current axle to make sure I order the correct parts?

Hi Jason!
We definitely have what you are needing, but do you know what the bolt pattern of your wheels is? Guessing it's a 5 on 4-1/2, but I recommend checking if you are unsure (I included a picture that shows the easiest way to check). That 4 bolt pattern you have on the brake mounting flange means you have a 3,500 pound axle, so I would be surprised if you have a different bolt pattern.
If you do have that 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 10" - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K (you will need two of these) would be a good option. From there, I recommend using the Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 3.5K # AKEBRK-35-SA and the # BRKH10B hardware to attach them. Self Adjust brakes are a lot easier to live with since you don't need to adjust them, so I always recommend them.
From there you just need some wiring and, though not needed, I do recommend the etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector # e99011. It will make the wiring a lot easier.
Out of curiosity, what kind of trailer is this going on?

Hey Jason, Did you get a chance to check the bolt pattern on your wheels? I'm curious to know how the installation went and if the parts worked out for your trailer. Your experience could really help others looking to do the same conversion!
