No need to pack bearings or handle messy grease. The Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb axles comes pre-greased and ready to mount. It’s built to slide right onto #84 spindles with both E-Z Lube and standard grease caps included. That means you can finish your hub replacement faster and get back on the road without dealing with extra prep work.
This hub comes fully equipped so you don’t have to search for matching parts. Inside the box you’ll find bearings (L68149 inner and L44649 outer), races, grease seal (58846), grease cap, wheel bolts, and 1/2" lug nuts. Each part is matched to fit perfectly together for a direct swap on a 3,500-lb axle. It’s a straightforward solution that cuts down on guesswork during installation.
Durability matters when you’re hauling, and the Dexter hub’s cast iron body is made for steady, everyday loads. Each hub carries up to 1,750 lbs, giving solid support for a full 3,500-lb axle pair. The sturdy iron resists wear from road grit and bearing heat so it stays smooth mile after mile.
Getting the right bolt circle is easy with this hub’s defined 5 on 5-1/2" pattern. If your wheel measures 3-1/4" from the center of one stud to the next, this is your match. It works with wheels from 13" up to 15" diameter, covering the full range for most standard trailer setups. The hub’s 1.986" grease cap flange diameter keeps it compatible with common accessories like Bearing Buddy protectors for quick maintenance down the line.
Dexter pairs each L68149 inner (1.378" ID) and L44649 outer (1.063" ID) bearing with matching L68111 and L44610 races already pressed in place. The 58846 grease seal (1.719" ID, 2.565" OD) helps lock in lubrication and keep contaminants out. Together they create a tight, balanced hub assembly that runs cool and tracks true over long distances.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

No grease zerk. I guess you are expected to use ez-lube axles. No response fro eTrailer about this issue.
i bought this hub to adapt a 30's era Ford spoked wheel to my motocycle sidecar. it fits the wheel perfectly. it will take a bit a creativity to match it to my axle, but i knew that would be needed when i ordered it. it's a good solid piece.
product a Hub and bearings were as expected-New, the bearing cap was thin and crushed when trying to get it to seat but it did finally work the unexpected thing was the fast service it had to be shipped the same day as I called in the order. That means downtime was less!! Thanks and I will be using you again!!

Perfect great product
Product arrived in good condition. Installation was smooth and easy. The only problem that I had, mainly my fault, was installing the dust caps. The fit was extremely tight to the point I bent it up then it would not fit properly. One thing I would suggest to others is to install and tighten as you would normally, then wait a day or two and try to wiggle the rim. If it does pull the cotter pin and tighten again. IF you can not wait then do check them after the first usage.
I was really disappointed that the Dexter Hub included wheel bearings made in China, they were poorly constructed and luckily I kept my "made in Mexico" wheel bearings and installed those instead!

At the time I ordered these, I was new to re-doing breaks. I had never done anything like it before. I did my best research. However, I still ordered the wrong parts for my trailer.
