When your trailer sees rain or even full submersion, you need lights that hold up. This Peterson light is built as a sealed, waterproof unit with the lens welded directly to the housing to keep moisture out. The entire circuit stays protected, so water won’t reach the bulbs or wiring. That makes it a dependable choice for trailers that often deal with wet roads or launch ramps.
Seeing and being seen is what matters most on the road. This PC-rated light spreads its beam 90 degrees to either side for a full 180 degrees of coverage. When properly mounted, that wide pattern lets it serve as both a clearance and side marker light—bright enough to be seen from the front, side, or rear to help keep your trailer visible in all directions.
This light uses two long-lasting incandescent bulbs rated for over 15,000 hours of use. They run on any 12V DC system and produce a consistent glow through the red lens. It’s traditional lighting that’s still tough and reliable, designed for consistent brightness over years of use.
Mounting this light is straightforward. It surface mounts using bracket B154-11 (sold separately) and connects easily with a standard 2-wire female plug (153-49, sold separately). The male pins make for a solid connection that’s quick to attach or replace without complex wiring or adapters.
At just 3-13/16" long, 1-1/4" wide, and 7/8" deep, this rectangular light fits cleanly on most trailer surfaces without sticking out. It meets DOT requirements for clearance and side marker applications, so you know it’s road legal and ready for daily use.

Today we're taking a look at the Peterson red trailer clearance light. Now this red light functions as a clearance light for your trailer. It's sealed, so it's protected from dust and moisture. Internally it contains two incandescent bulbs, one on this side and one on this side. Now your base and wiring are not included. This is designed to snap into a base.
Something that would be very similar to this right here, just a bracket that has the ports for it, has the grounding function through the mounting hardware. And then a single wire designed for power. But again, your base wiring and hardware, all those items are sold separately. It is Department of Transportation compliant, has a nice red lens on it with a white base. When it comes to the dimensions of the unit, we took a measurement edge to edge and got a measurement of about 3 and 13/16 inches long by and inch and a quarter. And a depth of just that lens area measures about 7/8 of an inch deep.I'm going to go and hook up some wires to it that way you can see what it looks like with power running to it and then we'll also turn off our overhead light so you can see it in a low light setting.
So you can see here, it sends out a really nice consistent signal, pretty bright design, two bulb design and those are incandescent bulbs. But it allows for a really nice signal output. That's going to do it for today's look at the Peterson red trailer clearance light.
