Updated 09/02/2026 | Published 08/23/2026

Question:

I’m trying to replace a hub on my trailer. It is Dexter 8-256 AF 6 037 and a 3 or 8 I can’t quite make out which. Any help on which replacement part I need would be appreciated

Hey Matthew.

From the information you gave me, what I found was a 3,500lb axle rating hub from Dexter # 84555UC1. Unfortunately, I can't guarantee this is the correct hub for you. I recommend seeing what bearings are in your current hub, this part works with # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearings, and a 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern and works with a #84 spindle.

If you can provide me with the bearing numbers that you'll find stamped on the outer ring of the bearing (inner & outer), Bolt pattern and number of bolts, I can find the correct part for you.
