I ordered this gooseneck coupler and it arrived in 3 days as promised. It's heavy so I took it to a friend to install it. Took maybe 15 min and I can actually turn my truck and trailer without worrys about blowing out the window like I did the week before. So happy I found these guys, super easy to work with. I would recommend this product to everyone with a short bed truck.

It is a great product, it gives me lots of turning range, without being concerned of hitting my cab, and at the same time keeping all the weight over the axle of the truck where it needs to be.

The extended coupler does EXACTLY what I needed - gave me extra turning room for my 8' wide horse trailer. (I've already knocked the back window out once - but no more)!!

Gives me peace of mind that I can travel and camp without a turning restriction.

Still does EXACTLY what I needed it for and has allowed me to make close turns easily. Highly recommend the extended coupler.

I was terrified at every turn of smashing my truck. This extend-a-goose is the answer! Make sure you measure the clearance of your gooseneck support to the bed rails to make sure that extending it the 11 inches doesn’t cause that angled part to impact your truck. The build quality is fantastic, however!! I’m not impressed with the “paint” down around the coupler...after only having it for a month or so I’m seeing rust stains (I will likely cover with a trash bag so it is not out in the elements since it protrudes last the gooseneck overhang. Bottom line, of you want a shortbed and a gooseneck this is a must!!! I no longer worry about crushing my truck and I can swing to about 80 deg off my trailer without worry (before it was maybe 50 degrees) And as always, shout out to etrailer for being a great parts supplier!!!

Order on Tuesday got it Thursday cant wait to try it I think it has fix my problem.Get to keep my short bed 2500 Ram. Thanks.

Still working great any one with a short bed truck this is the way to go.

The B&W Extend a Goose Coupler worked great for our old 80's vintage stock trailer and our newer short bed Dodge pickup. Plenty of clearance and pulled great!

looks well made, I may would make changes to the bolt holes in the hitch tube itself, seems quite a few holes in the tube. But it serves my purpose. Thank you.

Awesome part! I can safely pull my gooseneck horse trailer and still have a truck that fits in parking spots!

I have it installed on my 2010 Merhow 3H slant load living quarters Horse trailer. I pull it with my 2011 Ram 2500 mega cab. This product works great with have the 6.5 ft. bed. I never have to worry about damaging my back cab or windows if I get in a tight spot. I highly suggest this product.

Bart - 02/24/2022

We have 2 of these because we have a short bed F350. Has saved us from damaging the truck bed and we don't have to worry about crunching our 4 door either.

We really like our Extend-A-Goose coupler. It was very easy to install. It gives us the extra distance we need to insure that our Goose neck trailer doesn't get too close to the back of our truck cab. We recently suggested it to a friend, and she is very pleased as well.
Thank you for this great product.

Great product very robust. Didn't slide into our trailer coupler very easily so we were restricted on how far in we could get it. However I can't blame the coupler for that as it could be our trailer age. But we did meet the 6" minimum requirements.

I’ve always been scared of these extensions, but after installing a sleeper cab on my Ram 3500 I had to do something to gain clearance between my horse trailer and the cab. This thing is heavy! I am not worried about it at all. I also utilized the B&W 4 inch ball extension, giving me an additional 14 inches of clearance. One great thing I did not anticipate is that the addition of these two products actually made the ride quality much smoother than before.

I live in the Flint Hills of Northeast Kansas and we started using a Bar Six Cake feeder on our pickup to take care of cattle on winter pasture. I couldn't pull my trailer without crunching the cake box. I saw an extend-a-goose on another truck with a similar set-up and I thought this might be the answer. I charted out my problem on paper and figured out the trigonometry that I could increase my turning radius by 18 degrees with the 10" drop in the hitch.

I went ahead and ordered the item and installed it the day it came, which incidentally is always very quick with E-Trailer products. It worked like a charm. We still have to be careful with the trailer, but the extender helps me do my job more efficiently.

The coupler is good quality and easy to install. It applies the down force from the trailer at the design point, so there is no compromise in trailer handling qualities for the truck. My truck is a 2016 Ford F-150 crew cab with a short bed, which has limited clearance for the gooseneck. My trailer is a two horse Sundowner gooseneck, which has a V-nose. With the extender, I can make the tightest possible turn moving forward with good clearance between the cab and trailer. Backing up, there is plenty of clearance provided that I do not jackknife the trailer. I estimated that contact would occur with an 82 degree angle between the trailer and truck. That means there is clearance for any maneuver you want to actually make, but of course if you jackknife the trailer too much it would be possible to damage the truck. This is an excellent solution for a v-nose trailer with the F150 crew cab. I would not recommend it for a flat nose trailer. I formerly had a standard bed F150 that I pulled this trailer with. There is no noticeable difference in pulling with the short bed and extended coupler as compared with the 2011 standard bed. The 2016 has more capacity thanks to the lower weight of the aluminum body and the higher torque of the 3.5L turbo charged V6.

Works great. I have not had any incidents or close calls in maneuvering the trailer. Did have one minor issue. Wasps like to enter the holes and build nests. Had to tape over them.
John W - 08/30/2018

Holes don't line up with pin on trailer. Slight turn to the left(drive side) and paint comes off as soon as you install

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you.
-- Etrailer Expert Jenny N - 03/09/2022

The coupler was easy to install. It set my trailer farther back so I'm not hitting it during a sharp turn. Very good product

Easy install. Provides clearance to cab in tight turns.

Order was received in a timely manner. Just as they promised. Quality is Excellent, wish I would have known about this product before I broke my back window out.!

Excellent product and outstanding shipp ing.

I bought this for my 8 wide square front trailer. I own a short box and the turning radius was just not what I wanted. Now that I have this I am not worried about smashing out my back window on my truck. The trailer hauls nicely and you would never know the sleeve of the trailer is pushed back.

Excellent item for all short bed truck owners. Before I bought the item and using a standard coupler, it cost me $4500 to get my 2018 Dodge roof and windows repaired. Somebody is really providing new products.

Fantastic, best investment for a short bed truck.

Great product easy to install and amazing customer service from Kate

Placed order on Monday and 2 days later it’s on my door step, this year I have ordered stuff from many different venders ( stuff that etrailer doesn’t have ) and it’s taken 6 months to get, unbelievable shipping this place has and packaging is top of the line. The product appears to be very heavy duty and well built, unfortunately I won’t be using it till next spring, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed for what it’s intended to do.
Thanks etrailer for selling top of the line products and speedy delivery.

  • Recommendation For Short Bed With Gooseneck Trailer
The B&W Extend-A-Goose Gooseneck Coupler # BWTEXA4200 is designed to give you 10" of clearance so you can complete turns safely in a short bed truck (see diagram). The handle on this unit will easily hook up to the ball and also it is lockable. It is designed to fit onto a standard 2 and 5/16 diameter gooseneck ball. Other than getting a sliding hitch the coupler is your best option. I added a product video that describes the operation of # BWTEXA4200 I have added a link to our article...

I may have a solution for you but there aren't any hitch balls available with an offset that fit the factory gooseneck prep package on the 2017 Ford SuperDuty. Instead of using an offset ball you can use an offset coupler. The B&W Extend-A-Goose # BWTEXA4200 gives you 10 inches of offset which is well more than a hitch ball will. • Definition of Weight Capacity and Vertical Load Limited for B&W Offset Gooseneck Coupler
The weight capacity of 24,000 pounds would be the most the trailer can weigh. So the gross weight capacity of gooseneck coupler # BWTEXA4200 is 24,000 pounds. The vertical load limit is the amount of weight pushing down on the ball. On a regular hitch it's called tongue weight. So as long as the trailer "tongue" weight is under 6,000 pounds it will be within the capacity of this coupler.

The problem with offsets installed on the trailer being towed is that when you need the offset the most (in a tight turn) the offset is diminished since the offset turns with the trailer. Basically it really doesn't help much when needed unlike a slider hitch which moves the pivot point back instead which allows the offset to stay where it's needed around turns.
