Hi everyone, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our Shocker Hitch. It's an air cushion gooseneck coupler with a round inch inner tube and a 9" offset. Folks, it is rated 30,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 6,000 pounds on that tongue weight. Now again, that features a 4' or a hundred millimeter round stand. It's technically 3/16," that way it can slide up inside of that outer tube.
Obviously, you're gonna have to have that outer tube already installed on your gooseneck trailer. More likely than not, you probably already have that. If you don't, we sell those here as well separately. Now starting off, you've got three different holes down here on this main pin, and that can go in with the pin and clip and you could, you know, pivot that depending on what lines up for your specific tube as there's different manufacturers and makes out there on that. This makes sure that it'll fit all of that.
As you can see, it's got a nice big airbag here, so that's gonna give you that air cushion support for another smooth or a smoother towing experience. Air ride, in my opinion, is just simply the best cushion apparatus out there on the market. Now this guy looks a little funky being that the airbags mount it upward like this. Shocker also makes some where the airbag is down underneath this way as well. But for this particular application, this is what's needed.
Up here at the front you have a dual locking pin and they've actually got this patented as far as this design. So as you can see, whenever I'm opening and closing these two jaws here, if you will, will go in and lock that gooseneck ball in place. And then, of course, you have the pin and clip here to keep that in place as well, whenever it's locked or unlocked accordingly and then the spring would just, you know, snap back over and hold that in place. And you can see on one of these there is a little hole through it, that's what this other clip is here for. I just got a clipped on here for now, but that would come around and pin through that hole, just for an extra bit of safety.
You've got grease inserts in here for giving you your maintenance and everything. You got the schrader valve up here for adding the air. As far as how much you're gonna have to add, that's gonna be up to your weight, your personal load out on the trailer and that kind of stuff. So you're gonna have to check that when you're installing it yourself and just kind of take it easy based on the chart that comes with the instructions. It'll give you a pretty good starting PSI if you will, based on the weights and everything and that's included in the instructions as far as that information. You've got three adjustment holes here to do up or down height. And as you can see, they're oblong or elongated so that gives you, again, that power for when you're twisting this to guarantee that's gonna line up in there as well. So now you can kind of see them a little better if I step outta the way. So again, simple pivot design. It uses the rocker arm and pivot design, that's gonna produce a front and back motion, much different than other cushion hitches that are on the market. It's gonna eliminate the need for parallel linkages, shock absorbers, extra torsion arms, and all those kind of over-engineered things that other brands and you know, companies use and make out there. So again, in my opinion, as of right now as today, the shocker hitch gooseneck would be the best option for you as far as a smooth ride. Quick and easy installation, as I showed you, this whole assembly just kind of slides right up inside your outer tube on the gooseneck trailer, and then you instantly are gonna feel a difference as far as the cushioning, less bangs, bombs, chucking, jerking, tugs, those kind of things. So again, speaking of the tugs and stuff, as you know, if you are using this on a horse trailer, the horses are gonna have a much smoother ride as well. Now they're not gonna get that initial jerking and everything. It's gonna make them stay a lot less stressed out and stuff during that trip as well. Well, folks, again, I'm Steven. Awesome
Great products and customer service!
Eliminates the jerking on rough and uneven roads.
Etrailer is the best
Just received the Shocker hitch and have not installed it yet. The hitch was received in good shape, however the cardboard box it was in was beat up pretty bad due to the weight of this hitch. Supplier needs stronger/better packaging for thes heavy parts.
Great product, you can really notice the difference when traveling down the rough roads.
Works great, but after a couple of hours the air leaks out, I only put 35psi in it , I might go with something mechanical
We put this on a flat bed trailer 40ft it bucked realy bad when empty on dirt roads. This has helped with the pressure a lot well worth the money.
