Question:
Hi, I have a Hawk 2019 gooseneck trailer. The nose does slant. I have just installed a BW gooseneck ball in the short bed 5.5. The trailer only weighs 4600 pounds empty. will the BandW extend a gooseneck coulpler work? Is it sort of a universal extender or do I need to find something more specific. Im just not sure how to get the extra length I need to pull the trailer. Thank you. Barb Also, nose is 90 inches total. picture included Again, thank you

Thank you for the images Barb, but you are going to have to take a couple measurements to verify what is going to work best for your exact situation. It looks like you have a 2019 Toyota Tundra with the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1257 for the 5-1/2' bed. I do see according to the image provided your trailer is 80" wide so to make a full jack knife turn you would need more than 40" from the center of the hitch ball in the bed to the cab. This is not likely the distance you have but I have no way to know as this is not a number we have which is accessible. If you can measure this you may be able to get away with using the 4" Offset Ball # BWGNXA4585 and have enough clearance.
Otherwise with a B&W Extend-A-Goose Gooseneck Coupler # BWTEXA4200 like you found there are different measurements which need to be considered since this extends the distance the trailer sits behind your truck differently. The 10" offset would not reduce the 40" clearance but instead it pushes the trailer further away from the coupler to where you will have to determine if the V-shape of the nose will sit far enough past your cab when you make a full jack knife turn. As the dimensions you sent do not show the ball center location or the dimensions for the V you will need to make these. First you will want to determine how far back the center of your gooseneck is behind the cab like above. You will also want to measure the clearance to the side of your cab. Then you will need to compare these measurements to the hitch pin center on your trailer to verify if the 10" offset will be enough to push the edge of the trailer past your cab. If you are having trouble understanding this please take the measurements for me and I can help explain it to you. Also to ensure the Coupler # BWTEXA4200 is correct to fit your trailer you will need to ensure your current coupler is the 4" diameter with the side pins and not angled pins or smaller diameter tube.
