What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com Today, we're gonna be checking out this B&W adapter. This is gonna make your ball four inches offset for the shorter bed here on this RAM Classic. Let's check it out. This is gonna be the standard gooseneck ball you get with your B&W hitch, so fits in there just fine. But on our RAM today we have a 5 1/2 foot bed, so we don't have a whole lot of room here. So if you go to hook up, it's gonna be really tight against the cab or problematic to try and hook up.
So that's why you get this adapter that puts it at an offset. So I'll put that in just like before. It goes down in place, you latch it. And now the ball has moved from here, where this one would've been, to four inches offset. Now you're gonna have more clearance from the cab and your rig when you're driving or taking turns.
On our website, you're gonna see two different versions of this. We've gotten a lot of questions on 'em, so I wanted to point out why one will work and the other won't. First thing you wanna do is go out to your hitch, your gooseneck hitch in the back of your truck. Measure from the bottom collar to the top edge, it's about 2 1/2 inches. So already you're gonna see that this one is longer, this is gonna be 4 1/2 inches.
So if we we're to go try and use this, it would stick out up past the gooseneck and not be able to latch in, so we won't be able to use it that way. That's why this one is the one specifically for this hitch on this truck, because it has a shorter shank, so you can drop it in there, and then it'll latches in place. It's gonna be made out of a sturdy steel construction. Also, it's gonna have a gross trailer weight rating of 20,000 pounds. This is gonna have a vertical tow weight rating of 5,000 pounds.
Overall, this is gonna be easy enough to install. It's gonna help you out, get that extra clearance in the back of your truck, so you're gonna hook up your rig and get on the road. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out, and hope this helped.
