E-Z Lube-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Pre-Greased Replacement 5-on-5 Hub for 3500-lb Dexter Axle
You can confirm the weight rating of your Dexter axle by removing one hub and pulling its bearings. The included photo shows how part numbers usually appear on bearings. The specific bearings used will tell you the axle's weight rating. Just refer to the linked article that lists the bearings commonly used for various axle weight ratings. A new hub must use the same bearings as the original hub in order to fit on your spindles. A 3500-lb axle commonly uses bearings # L68149 and # L44649...

  • Replacement Hubs With 5 on 5 Bolt Pattern for M116A3 Trailer
This is possible assuming the bearings match up with the spindle on your current axle. All of our idler hubs and hub and drum assemblies with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern use a # L44649 outer bearing and # L68149 inner bearing. You will need to either find the part numbers on the existing bearings or measure your spindle to see what you have. Assuming these match up we have several options. If you are looking for a hub and drum assembly we have the # AKHD-550-35-K or the # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K for...

  • Jeep Wheel Compatibility with Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System
Jeep wheels have the 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern and we do have hubs that fit the Axle-Less Systems and your Jeep wheels. It is recommended to use trailer wheels with trailer hubs because of the zero offset and tire design, but people have been using Jeep wheels especially for off-road trailers for years so we know they can work. We only have a couple compatibles option for that size hub. You will want the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - 4" Lift Spindle w/Flange - Off-Road...

  • Dexter 008-256-07 Trailer Hub Replacement
The hub you have is a 3,500 lb idler hub that has a 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern so you'd want the part # AKIHUB-550-35-K and you'd be set! This comes with bearings, lug nuts, a grease seal, and a grease cap/dust cover. Or, we have the part # 84550UC1-EZ which is already pre-greased and ready to install.

  • Replacement Wheel Hub Recommendation for Carson Trailer with 5 on 5 Bolt Pattern and 3500 LB Axle
If your Carson trailer uses a standard spindle, you will need the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly, # 84550BX. This hub assembly includes lug nuts, L68149 inner bearing and race, L44649 outer bearing and race, grease cap and grease seal. If you have a grease zerk at the end of your spindle, you will need our E-Z Lube Trailer Hub Assembly, # 84550UC1-EZ. This assembly also includes lug nuts, L68149 inner bearing and race, L44649 outer bearing and race, grease seal, but this kit includes an E-Z...

Each of the trailer idler hubs with a 5 on 5" bolt pattern are a fit for 3,500 lb axles and use inner bearing # L68149 (1.378" inner diameter), outer bearing # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter), and grease seal # 58846 (1.719" inner diameter) so you will want to make sure those are the correct bearings and seal for you. You can do this by taking apart your current hub and looking at the bearing numbers, or by using Digital Caliper # 301-17068 and measure your spindle to the thousandths of...

  • Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System For A Homemade Overlanding Off Road Trailer
I would not trust the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System ASR1200S01 to be used as an overlanding trailer with those large jeep wheels. I have included a picture that shows what I believe to be a failure point with this suspension. With that narrow point I would fear that a large bump may cause it to bend with the weight and larger wheels. I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR1THDS02. It has a higher weight capacity at 2,200lbs and larger axle spindles....

  • Timbren Axle-Less Suspension Comparison & Recommendation For A Custom Overlanding Trailer
The difference between the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System ASR1200S01 and the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR1200S02 is that ASR1200S01 is designed for off-road tires, and # ASR1200S02 is made for regular tires. The Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # 8-91-05UC1-EZ is the appropriate hub assembly for ASR1200S01 and # ASR1200S02. Those spindles on the Timbren use a larger than normal hub for the capacity. You would need to use the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern # 8-201-9UC3-EZ for that axle using brakes or # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K for an idler hub. The Redline Trailer Idler Hub Assembly item # 84550UC1-EZ comes pre-greased with LMX Red Grease like item # L11390. The bearings will come prepacked but you will want to add some grease to the spindle when you install the hubs and then some to the zerk fitting once you get the hub mounted. If you need a grease gun I recommend the LubriMatic Professional Pistol Grease Gun item # L30416.

You would be able to pick a different hub to fit the spindle. The correct hub you would want that would also give you a 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern would be the Trailer Hub Assembly # 84550UC1-EZ. In the 1,200 lb capacity range there is no way to get the bolt pattern you want.
