Question:

I am building an overlanding trailer that will have a gross weight of 600-800 lbs. I am considering using the 1200 lb Timbren axle-less system. What is the difference between ASR1200S01 and ASR1200S02? Is the Dexter 8-91-05UC1-EZ hub the appropriate item for either of these axles? How does A12RS440 compare to the previous axle sets? Are there variations of these axles that have the spindles underslung to increase ground clearance? Under what circumstances is the 2”x2” cross beam between the individual axle units required? Are there other axle options that you would recommend for this application?

The difference between the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System ASR1200S01 and the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR1200S02 is that ASR1200S01 is designed for off-road tires, and # ASR1200S02 is made for regular tires.

The Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # 8-91-05UC1-EZ is the appropriate hub assembly for ASR1200S01 and # ASR1200S02.

The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # A12RS440 is the same as # ASR1200S02, but this system also has hubs included.

There are no variations that are going to increase ground clearance, however ASR1200S01 will give you more ground clearance since it does not use a cross tube axle.

You're going to want to reinforce the frame if your trailer does not have a crossmember above the spot where you want to install the Timbren system.

Finally, I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR1THDS02 with the hubs # 84550UC1-EZ, instead of # ASR1200S02 & ASR1200S01, because # ASR1THDS02 has a higher weight capacity at 2,200-lbs and also has larger axle spindles.
