Question:
I have a m116a3 axel military trailer. It currently has the 8x6.5 bolt pattern hubs. I want to keep the original axel I don’t want to do a full axel swap. Im look to just do a hub swap to a 5x5 bolt pattern. Is this something that can be done?

This is possible assuming the bearings match up with the spindle on your current axle. All of our idler hubs and hub and drum assemblies with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern use a # L44649 outer bearing and # L68149 inner bearing. You will need to either find the part numbers on the existing bearings or measure your spindle to see what you have.
Assuming these match up we have several options. If you are looking for a hub and drum assembly we have the # AKHD-550-35-K or the # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K for E-Z lube axles. If you just need an idler hub then we have the # 84550BX or the # 84550UC1-EZ for E-Z lube axles.
I have attached some review videos along with a helpful diagram showing the location of part numbers and where to measure a spindle that you can check out.

I am not sure if this was ever answered. I am trying to find a drum to fit the same trailer and would love some help. I would prefer a 6x5.5 or 8x6.5 bolt pattern but have not found a drum that works with this spindle.
