Use the Cross Reference to Match the Seal You Have

Seal numbers are not always listed the same way across axle and hub brands, so the cross-reference data gives you another way to confirm the replacement before the hub comes apart. This grease seal matches the following common seal numbers:

Brand Part Number
Chicago Rawhide/SKF 22550
Dexter 010-054-00
Lippert 122088
National/Timken 442109
NOK AF3135G1
Transcom 22333VB

How to Measure for a Replacement Seal

Measuring a spindle

Use a digital caliper and measure to the nearest thousandth of an inch.

  • Seal I.D.: Measure the diameter of the spindle at the grease seal seat (B), where the seal rides.
  • Seal O.D.: Remove the old seal and measure the inside diameter of the hub bore where the seal presses into the hub.

Measure each location in a few spots to check for wear or an out-of-round surface. Match both measurements to the replacement seal.

by:

These seals work well on our 34' fifth wheel camper when I hand repack the wheel bearings and the double lip provides the additional back-up seal. Good quality seals.

by:

The folks at e-trailer were very helpful when I had questions. They sent me helpful videos to help with my install. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

by:

I haven’t installed these seals yet. I have installed this seal on one of my trailer hubs last October and it was identical to the original.

I bought a used 2002 camper with 2 dexter d-52 axles and I wanted to grease the bearings. I took it apart and the pads feel off the shoes so found this website and upgraded my system to the 23-428 & 23-429 never adjust brake assembly plus 2 new seals. Less than an hour an axle and you are done. I recondmend these guys for any parts I need in the future...

The axle seals I needed were not available locally. I then thought of etrailer. Sure enough, they had the seals and mailed them immediately. They will be my primary “go to” for future needs.

by:

I replace these seals every year when I repack the bearings on my triple axle 5th wheel camper. They work well, the fit is perfect, and the price is competitive. As always, etrailer has what I need to keep my equipment maintained.

These seals are what I removed after about 2 years and 12,000 miles on our 34' fifth wheel RV. No leakage, no issues. Well worth the cost and the service from ETrailer was the usual excellence. Thank you ETrailer.

  • Timken Double Lip Grease Seal To Replace Grease Seal # GS-2250DL
You can use the Timken Grease and Oil Seal # TMK98ZR in place of the Grease Seal # GS-2250DL. While they are not exactly the same seal construction it is still a double lip design and the dimensions are the same so they are going to fit correctly.

  • What Is The Difference Between 7K Hub/Drums From etrailer And Dexter?
Hi Phil! The main difference between the etrailer Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-865-7-2-EZ-K and the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 42866UC3-EZ is where they are made. Ours are made over seas and Dexter hubs are made here in America. The etrailer option is less expensive though. Other than that, they are both for 5,200 to 7,000 pound axles, use the same # 25580 inner bearing and # 14125A outer bearing, use the same # GS-2250DL seal, have 1/2" studs, are pre-greased,...

  • Correct Replacement Grease Seal For 7000lb Lippert Axle
I reached out to my contact at Lippert and based on the NV 248685 your 7000lb Lippert axle uses inner bearing # 25580, outer bearing # 14125A, and grease seal # GS-2250DL. Now this grease seal has a 2.250" I.D. which is the same as the seal you purchased, so I do not have a good answer to why yours is not fitting as that is what your axle was designed to use. I was unable to find an order through us so I recommend double checking the dimensions of the seal you ordered to make sure it...

The Lippert 5,200lb axle under your 2015 Open Range Light 311FLR 5TH Wheel is going to need 2 Seals # GS-2250DL per axle. This would be good to keep on hand incase you find out any of the bearings and races are worn/damaged when you go to replace the seals. • Locating Correct Grease Seal for 7K Dexter Hubs on Alliance Valor
Hey Bryan! I definitely understand not wanting to pull a hub to find the right seal size. It's not the most fun (nor cleanest) job in the world. Without actually doing that and verifying the right size, I can give you an answer that's about 85% sure. MOST likely, with the Dexter 7K axles on your Alliance Valor and the (from what I could tell) 8 lug hubs, the right grease seal is going to be part # GS-2250DL. This one has a 2.250" inner diameter and a 3.376" outer diameter. I'm sorry...

Hey Scott, for a Curt 7k axle the replacement grease seal would be the part # GS-2250DL which has an outer diameter of 3.38 inches which I think you might have dropped off a number in the number you listed. This is close enough to the number Lippert told you would work and work great. Did you blow out a seal or are you doing some hub maintenance?

  • Can I Replace My GS-2250DLR Seal With The GS-2250DL Seal?
Hey Tim, Yes, you can replace that seal with the # GS-2250DL. They are the exact same size seals the only difference is the "R'. The "R" just refers for a rubber coating on the outer diameter of the seal while the # GS-2250DL is a standard metal outer diameter. Size wise they are the same and can be replaced with each other. Are you looking to replace all the bearings and seals, or are you just needing a new seal?

  • Can A Hub With A 15123 Bearing Be used To Replace A Hub That Used An LM67048 Bearing?

That said, make sure the inner bearing is either a # 25580 or has a 1.75" inner diameter and the seal is either a # GS-2250DL or has an inner diameter of 2.25" as well. These are what come with the # TRU38AV hub/drum. As long as all these...

However, based on the 12" rotor and the 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern the Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD69FR you were looking at will likely fit. This is designed to for a #42 spindle on a 5,200 lb or 6,000 lb axle. What you can do is check your axle tag to see if it has a serial number or capacity to identify it. There are two sizes of grease seals that fit 7k axles and there isn't a rhyme or reason as to which you may have/need. So if the spindle diameter if 2.2250 inch where the seal rides the correct seal you would need is the part # GS-2250DL or if it's 2.125 inch you'd instead need the part # GS-2125DL.
