Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Timken replacement 25580 trailer wheel bearing. This is a high-quality, tapered roller bearing that's gonna replace an inner bearing for your 8,000 pound to 9,000 pound axles and inner bearing for your number 42 spindle or an outer bearing for your number 99 spindle. If you're not familiar, Timken is one of the most well known and highly trusted brands in the industry because their products are engineered with higher quality controls. So it's gonna ensure tighter tolerances and run-out than your other manufacturers. That's also gonna help reduce your vibrations and noise and lead to longer bearing life when you have them properly installed.
The higher quality of this is even evident in the way it's packaged. So this is gonna come individually packaged and oiled. So it's gonna arrive to you in great condition ready for you to get it installed. Now, it's obviously very important to make sure that you're getting the right bearing for your setup. So you can see this does use the industry standard number there, that 25580.
So if you see that on your current bearing, very easy to swap 'em out, know that it's gonna work for you. If you don't see that number on the bearing that you're removing or if you don't see any numbers on the bearing that you're removing, another way to tell if it's gonna work for you or not is to match up with the race. So this is gonna work with the race numbers that you see on the screen there. So if you're looking at your race, and you see any of those numbers, you can trust this is gonna work for you as well. And then the third option, if you don't see any of those numbers on your current bearing or race, would be to measure the inner diameter there.
And it is very specific. It's gonna measure down to thousandths of an inch. So you do want to use some digital calipers like this to measure that, and you can see that our inner diameter there, we're looking at 1.750 of an inch. So three different ways to make sure that you're getting the right bearing. But once you've got that settled, if you're looking for difference in quality between manufacturers, Timken is going to be a really high-quality option for you.
