Can I Replace My GS-2250DLR Seal With The GS-2250DL Seal?

Question:

Is it ok to replace a GS-2250DLR grease seal with a GS-2250DL seal? 2022 Venture 9000 Boat Trailer. Thanks.

Hey Tim,

Yes, you can replace that seal with the # GS-2250DL. They are the exact same size seals the only difference is the "R'. The "R" just refers for a rubber coating on the outer diameter of the seal while the # GS-2250DL is a standard metal outer diameter. Size wise they are the same and can be replaced with each other.

Are you looking to replace all the bearings and seals, or are you just needing a new seal?

Just replacing the seals. Are we better off with the rubber coated seals?

@TimF In my opinion, I have not seen one be better than the other in terms of performance and reliability. The rubber coated seals generally are better for trailers that are prone to constant mud, debris, water since the rubber is going to create a tighter seal. Most applications have the standard metal outer diameter like the # GS-2250DL and perform very well.
