Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. Connector plugs directly into OEM tow package port - no cutting, splicing or tapping required.
Features:
Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located behind the rear bumper, along the driver's-side frame rail.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Great solution to a sloppy hitch light wiring design. On a 2024 Ram 1500 4x4 Laramie, the four-pin trailer connector is top-side next to the license plate, so the hitch light wire has to go around the outside of the bumper to plug in. This harness adapter is the best I've found. The only issue I'm going to have now is when I want to use my trailer, I will have to unplug this adapter and re-attach to the original 7-pin/4-pin factory plug. I did my best to tidy up the wiring and secure them with zip ties so that the connectors are right next to each other. Hopefully, this becomes a simple plug and play solution. While having to do this is not my favorite thing, I still would have to unplug and remove the hitch light so I can install the hitch ball. So Im thinking I'm going to be down there next to it anyway. Special props to Chris @ etrailer for his help. He somehow managed to understand my dilemma and came up with this as a possible solution. If not for him, I probably would have ditched the whole hitch light fad. If you're a Ram owner, you might already know that adding any lights to their quirky electrical systems can be cumbersome and cause numerous "Light Out" or "Backup Lights Out" messages on the center cluster display. I ran into this with my 2014 Ram with aftermarket bumpers with LED lights galore. Splicing jacks with the electrical system, causing overvoltage or undervoltage issues that trigger these warnings despite the fact all lights were working perfectly. This solution from etrailer is as close to OEM factory wiring as you can get. I would discourage anyone from using any add-on lighting that doesnt come with vehicle-specific wiring harnesses. But if you've been eyeballing a hitch light for your truck, I highly recommend this harness adapter so you can have a clean install.
Bought a 2007 trailblazer that had a factory tow package but had never had a pigtail hooked up. This plugged right in.
Fit perfect, installed on 10 minutes. Wiring harness plugged right into the pigtail mounted under the bumper
Works great for my 03 Silverado . Hardest part was locating the plug in on my truck. ( it was was above the spare tire). Once I located it , the connector fit perfect and I had trailer lights !
Great communication throughout the process. Product is excellent.
This was a quarter of the price that Jeep wanted to sell it to me for and with some personal modifications/additional wiring I now have two versatile means of hooking up my trailer lights!
Wasnt what i needed. Postage to return was more than what it was worth to send back. Its a great paperweight or if i jam it under the door its an okay doorstop
Perfect fit, exactly what I needed.

I just used my trailer, and am happy to have the light hookup right where I need it without crawling under my 4Runner.
Excellent product and very straightforward to install. Opted for the Curt T-Connector C55515 and will have my dealer flash computer to recognize new configuration. Already used hitch with trailer to haul several heavy items up to about 2000lbs with no trouble whatsoever. Should have got this years ago!
Fast shipping, easy install, product as described. The only complaint was the need to take the vehicle (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee) to dealer for ECU flash. I know this is not Etrailer's fault so not knocking them. I just hope to save other people time in the future if they think they are just able to plug in and tow.

8/02/2016 Update - replaced the 2014 Grand Cherokee with a 2016 Grand Cherokee, forced dealer to swap the hitch and wiring from old jeep to new jeep as part of the deal. Item still working as described, no complaints.
avalanche owners, easy too install i highly suggest when installing pull the cable through the hitch its open at the end less wire being exposed,(this is from my experience) other than that i am very happy with an troop,Patrick B,an everyone at etrailer.com provided great costumer service i will be buying from them soon.

Still working after the harsh new England weather we had still works I highly recommend there products also I willing be putting in an order for a new Chevy light up logo so get ready
Item was great and worked like a charm. Only problem was the vehicle. I used it on a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle came standard with the 7 pin connecter but since it didn't come with the "towing package", the dealer had to reprogram the system to start sending voltage to the vehicle connector.

What was the cost to have the grand cherokee reprogrammed, and how long did the reprogram take?

Jim the dealer charged $50 and it only took about 10 minutes once they figured out the problem. They spent about 4 hours figure it out tho.
I was not aware at the time i purchased this item that it was not what i needed. The page told me i needed this item to complete my set up so i bought it. little did i know that my vehicle does not have a factory wiring harness so what i bought was useless. I am going to have to return this item. The page should also make it more clear of what you may need before you purchase something and you wait almost 2 weeks for it to arrive. I had to order what i needed else ware to be here when I need it to be.

Thank you for your review. The 2019 Dodge Durango does need a factory towing package to use this wiring harness. Since the 2019 Dodge Durango does not have the factory towing package you will need part Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part C56336.

Question for you please. The hitch itself has been great, but I can't get the wiring harness for the lights to work on the trailer. I'm reading different things online, sounds like my Grand Cherokee may have to be programmed for the lights to work? Are you familiar with that? Is that the case?
Thanks in advance!
I chose the Draw tight Max Frame Trailer Hitch for its known quality, i like it comes powder coated to reduce unsightly rust and to keep that fresh look.
I chose the this hitch for my all around light and heavy duty needs.
The Draw Tight Ball Mount is a quality enhancement to this hitch.
I chose the 2" chrome ball for its quality and appearance.
The Curt C55515 wire connector was the best choice for my lighting needs.
Decent looking product. Would have been even better if it worked as advertised. Does not plug into my 2006 Ranger with tow package. Etrailer.com offered to refund the purchase price minus the original shipping cost, plus I had to foot the bill to ship it back. It would have cost more than it's worth. No thanks, I'll just use the pigtail and hard wire it.
Etrailer customer service was very prompt in responding, not that it did me any good.
The connector was as described ,no splice and simple. Also i ordered one for my Terrain and a class 2 hitch. Although the harness for the car was the wrong part, the customer service dept. took care of it immediately and it fit and installed with ease. The hitch went on with no problems and their videos showed everything you need to do. These guys will get my business from now on. a+++
Works perfectly! Pulled the cover off the existing plug on my 2014 Grand Cherokee (up under the rear of the vehicle) and this plugged right in.
NOTE: You may have to have the computer flashed by the dealer to enable trailer lighting. This cost me about $45 at a local Dodge dealer.
Installation of the T-Connector was extremely easy once I released the lock that held the factory cover in place, however, I don't recall seeing mention of the fact that the dealer has to "flash the ECU" [computer] to enable and turn on the factory wiring harness. I spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting no lights before finding mention of this on the internet and confirmed with a dealership that wanted $160 to do this work.
No lights after installation. Don't think it was product's fault. Dealer told me vehicle did not have module for trailer lights, even though it had the connection for your harness. Ugh!
Trailer hitch fit like a glove and looks great. The wiring harness was exact fit and will have to go to the dealer and have the vehicle part of the wiring turned on. Instruction and video on e-trailer helped a lot to determine my needs and installation.
Installation went well. You will need to cut the spare tire splash cover. Its made of plastic and was easy to cut in place with a, multi tool saw.
Also the Curt T- wiring harness # C55515 plugged in easy as well.
I would also recommend the mounting bracket # 18144 for a nice clean job.
On the 2017 Durango you will have to have the dealer activate the tow plug (flashing the computer ).
After going to many auto stores trying to track down this wiring harness I finally found it at Etrailer. Had the part in my hands before they said it would arrive. Could not beat the price. Thanks again Etrailer.
Good product, great customer service, fast shipping

Still works great
Unplugged the cap off the factory 7 pin round connector and inserted the new harness, fit perfectly. Tested the connections and all indications using a tester was spot on. This was a fantastic converter for my wiring. 10 minutes and I was done.

Hey Nick, that sounds super frustrating. Do you know if your Jeep equipped with a tow package? I'm happy to help if you still in need of a harness.
