Video Transcript for All About the Rubber Tube Cover for 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Curt rubber hitch cover for two-inch trailer hitch receivers. Now, this part will keep your hitch receiver free from dirt and debris with this cap-style cover. It has this band right here that will fit snugly around the hitch tube, so that you can just keep it on there, even when you're towing. And, if you notice, on the band, right at the bottom here, it has a storage port that you can put your four-way in, to keep your four-way connector from hanging down and keeps the plug right there, ready to connect. What I am going to demonstrate, right here, is I got an example of here's what the end of a two-inch hitch receiver opening would look like. So all you have to do first is just take this and stretch that band right around the opening, until it goes around the tube. Then slide it back, just like that.

Then, once you've got it on there, then you can take your hitch cover and go ahead and just push it right into place. It's a nice rubber, firm fit. Once you push it all the way into place, it gives you a nice, secure fit, and then the nice features, again, if you look underneath, you see that port, right there. So here's an example, like if you have this four-way hanging on your vehicle. Instead of having it hanging down, all you have to do is just insert it, push it all the way in there. You can see, just like that, it will hold your four-way right into place, ready to plug in whenever you need to tow.But that should do it for the review on the Curt rubber hitch cover for two-inch trailer hitch receivers..

Perfect finished look for tube and connector pins and keeps water from pooling/rusting in the receiver tube and connector. Worth the low price for sure.

by:

I didn't want dirt, dust, and spiders to get inside the receiver so started looking for a receiver cap that solved that, and more importantly, looked clean. Etrailer always has what I need so I started my search here. I found this one right away and knew this was the one. Our van's receiver was not installed with any electrical wiring so I didn't need the cap to protect the plug. A few minutes of "customizing" and voila!... it fit perfect and looks super clean. I'm glad I bought this one.

by:

I bought a hitch receiver a while ago and lost it driving through a farm (not the best idea). I drove into a ditch with tall grass and dirt, the cover was ripped off the hitch and my hitch was exposed filled with grass. By the time I realized the cover was lost, I was three hours away so I decided to get a new one. Very happy with the protection and look it gives to my car.

by:

nice cover but doesn't fit on my '22 Toyota highlander. It was stolen, so I bought this one because it had a strap, but the way the hitch is recessed, it won't go on. Would work good on a p/u.

by:

I like this cover a lot. I cut the cover and the band with the 4-pole connector holder apart so It would hold the wires on top of the receiver and not be hang down when the hitch is in use. This worked out very well on my 2012 Chevy Equinox and keeps everything very clean looking. The rubber cover is soft and stays in place very well on my Curt hitch receiver.

by:

I have attached three pictures if you want to use them. One is a shot of the 3 bolts on one side of the hitch after I bolted it to my 2016 RX 350. Another shot is of the hitch beautifully displayed below the center of the bumper. The third shot is with the hitch cover on.

by:

Great cover. Made of durable black rubber, it should be able to cushion a minor impact and protect the hitch. The strap is a very useful feature. I just flip it up when I attach my bike rack and I don't have to worry about loosing it.

by:

Excellent product! I bought two, one for my Tacoma and for the wife's Colorado, I Gorilla glued some loop velcro on mine and then affixed a morale patch, you are welcome to share if you'd like. Etrailer is a great place to do business with, Thank you!

by:

Works well, keeps hitch h covered when not in use.

by:

Soft rubber (not one of the plastic caps) makes it water tight.

by:

perfect fit

by:

It does exactly what it is supposed to do. Cover the hitch opening and protect both the hitch and your legs and feet if you get to close.

by:

etrailer.com took the guess work out of finding the right trailer hitch for my vehicle and needs. The combination of printed instructions and videos made installation a snap. Two recommendations...1) "unscrew" the metal fishing wires a bit before placement of the hitch...I had them fully threaded and it was harder to remove them once the rack was in place, 2) I installed this on my own...and extra set of hands will make it much easier to lift the hitch and navigate the muffler/exhaust.

by:

This hitch cover fell off during the first week of use — same as the previous one. I've given up on hitch covers.

by:

Looks good, reasonably priced

by:

Slid on easily and looks good!

by:

I’m really not sure what the deal is with this thing, but it always seems to uncover spontaneously,. It fits on so snuggly so I’m at a loss as to why it pops off.

Could be a family member messing with me.

This item no. I-728, Rubber Tube Cover for 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers, is great in all regards. It was so easy to install, high quality, does its protecting job, looks super on vehicle but simple and plain, doesn't call attention to itself. Appears will be long lasting. Exactly what I was wanting and only one found anywhere which fit all my needs. And Ellen N. was so helpful in ordering, immediate shipment, arrived in perfect condition. Can't praise highly enough both the product and the purchasing experience. Both beyond excellent - exceptional!

Great! Perfect! Could not be more pleased. Looks great, works great, wears great. Cant think of any other purchase of any type which has worked so well!

by:

Not a ton to say about the product itself, just a good plain trailer hitch receiver cover. I had the same one for years and traded my truck and forgot to yank it off. etrailer.com was the only place I could find the same cover. Everyone else had silly sayings of which I was not interested in. etrailer.com had what I was looking for at a very fair price. I received my order quickly and it shipped at a very reasonable shipping rate. I would definitely order from etrailer.com again.

Awesome!

Great cover to clean up the empty tube look!

by:

The unit fits perfectly over my 2” hitch mount. I bought it for the purpose of slowing down rust starting up. It’s plain black rubber color goes along with the black paint of my Ford Draw-Tite hitch. Nothing fancy but look nice covering the hole on my hitch when not pulling a trailer.

Because a trailer hitch is exposed to debris kicked up from the road and ice-melting chemicals, its a good idea to give the hitch a look over once a year or so and touch up any rust spots. The powder coat on a hitch is pretty durable, but abrasion will wear it away leaving the hitch vulnerable to corrosion.

It’s been a year and the hitch cover is still looking good with no visible aging from the element or salt water effect. It’s a good and sturdy product and covers my hitch mount well whenever I remove my hitch. I’m glad I bought and installed it keeping the back of my van looking nice.

by:

Great cover.

Well worth looking after your investment . Still looks as good as it was new And protecting the 2 inch centre. Very happy and would buy again

by:

Had to replace my old one because I got rear ended! Unfortunately, my hitch cover took the worst of the punishment. It's a neat little thing that helps protect your hitch from the elements, and covers up that unattractive receiver opening. Gives a much more finished look to the back of my truck.

  • Recommended Cover for Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver
I don't have a list of every hitch the Rubber Tube Cover for 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers part # I-728 fits unfortunately but it does look like there is room for the tether on the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # DT79MR so it should work. That said, there is an even better option for you in the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2" Hitch Receivers part # 63080 which has a much more secure lockup and severs as an anti-rattle device.

  • Can the Center Knockout Panel be Re-Installed After a Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Cadillac SRX
The receiver tube portion of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13002 will extend out past the rear bumper fascia on the 2015 Cadillac SRX so the center knockout panel cannot be reused unless modified. This will be the case for all aftermarket trailer hitches available for your vehicle. However, if you trim the center knockout panel around the receiver tube opening and install a hitch cover like part # I-728 you can achieve a very clean look which you can see in the attached photo. • Recumbent Bike Rack Recommendation for 2021 Nissan Rogue
For a recumbent bike like yours that has a 68 inch wheelbase the Swagman XC Extended Bike Rack part # S64650-EXT would work great as it can fit a wheelbase up to 69 inches when used with the gray wheel hoops. The etrailer hitch part # e93ZR is a fit for your 2021 Nissan Rogue as well. The hitch aligner part # e98942 would be a great option too. I use this with a cargo carrier and it's really helpful. And then to keep the hitch covered the part # I-728 would work great too.
