Tekonsha T-One Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Ryan: Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness. Now, what sets this one apart from many of the others is the fact that it's plug and play. We're going to have our four-pole end on this side, and the other side is going to have a connector that'll plug directly into our factory tow package, as opposed to having to tap into our Traverse's tail lights and have to run a power wire all the way out front to the battery. It's going to provide us with all of the necessary lighting functions to not only remain safe but legal. And other motorists on the road will appreciate the fact that your lights work, and they're going to know your intentions as you're pulling your trailer. We're going to have a thick rubber dust cap that's not only going to help our terminals clean, but it also serves as a hanger. That way we could store our wiring outside on our hitch.

Tekonsha T-One Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Ryan: Hey everybody. Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today, on our 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This is what our wiring is going to look like installed. It's going to provide us with the necessary lighting functions to give us that piece of mind knowing that we're going to stay safe and legal.Whether you do a little bit of towing or a lot of towing, this is going to be a great wiring option for you. Many of our customers reach out to us, and said, years after installing, it's still working perfectly and trouble-free.Now, one thing I do want to point out, not only can you store your wiring this way with the dust cover, but you can also get a bracket to permanently mount it to your hitch itself. My favorite part about it is you can hide it with this removable panel. To begin our installation, we're going to come to the back of the vehicle, and we're going to be working on the passenger side, right here in this area.

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Connector, part number HM11141150. This is gonna give us all the proper lighting function to safely tow our trailer. It's gonna give us both turn signals, our brake lights, our running lights, and our ground. It's also gonna have a nice dust cap that's gonna help protect our connections from any dirt, debris, and moisture. This wiring harness is gonna plug directly into your factory tail light wiring and into your factor tail lights. The good thing about it is it's gonna have a power wire that runs up to your battery. The good thing about that is, it's not gonna draw any power from your tail lights themselves, it's gonna draw all the power from the battery, so you're not gonna get that dimming effect if you have lights that are drawing a little bit more power, or you have a few extra lights on your trailer. The first thing we need to do to start our installation, is we need to get into the hatch.

Now, this is what your wiring is going to look like once you get it installed on your vehicle. As you can see, we're using a four poled bracket here that allows us to have a firm attachement point for our wiring. Now, if you don't want a bracket, you do have the option of coming down and around your hitch, and then we can use that dust cover just to hold it up and in place. Here's what our wiring kit is going to look like. This is going to be a very straightforward and easy installation for you to do. Basically, we have our factory connector right here.

See how we've mounted it up to our bracket and the bracket here that was already welded to the hitch. This is what your kit's going to look like when you pull it out of the package.

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Traverse

Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole flat trailer connector, and that's going to be part number 118761.Here's what our wiring looks like. I do want to mention that the bracket is not included in the kit, but you can pick some up on our website. Our wiring is going to provide us with a 4-Pole flat trailer connector. It's going to give us all the required lights to get down the road safely and within the law. So we can give us our tail lights, brake lights, and our turn signals. We chose to mount our wiring with this bracket, because the wiring is going to stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times, so we'll be right next to our receiver tube whenever we get ready to hook up to our trailer. Now this is a custom-designed wiring kit, so it is going to be specific for our Traverse and it is just going to plug into a factory port, which is going to be right in this general area behind the bumper. Our wiring is even going to include this nice dust cover, which is going to keep some of the moisture and the debris out, from getting inside of the connector.

Best 2018 Chevrolet Traverse Trailer Wiring Options

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for your 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. Here we're going to have our different wiring options. Down on the end here we're going to have a 4-pole flat, which is going to be our Curt wiring. Next to it we're going to have our Tekonsha 4-pole flat wiring kit. Then here we're going to have our Tekonsha 7-pole wiring kit and then finally at the end we're going to have our Curt 7-pole wiring kit.Obviously because the 4-pole and the 7-pole are going to be different connectors, we'll start by talking about the 4-pole flat connectors first. Both the Curt and the Tekonsha are both going to give you that 4-pole flat trailer connector on the end, and they're both going to work with our factory tow package.

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Speaker 1: Today on this 2011 Chevrolet Traverse we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a Four Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118450.Here what our wiring looks like installed. Now, the reason you're going to want a four pole flat wiring on your vehicle is if you're going to tow a trailer, the four pole flat wiring will give you the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for you to safely and legally tow a trailer. This green wire here provides your right turn signal and right brake light, yellow wire provides your left turn signal and left brake light. The brown wire is your taillight and running light signal, and the white wire provides the necessary ground connection between your trailer and your traverse. Now, on these three circuits we have a total power output of 7-1/2 amps maximum per circuit, which is more than sufficient to tow a trailer with several incandescent light bulbs per side on it. If you're running LEDs, you don't have to worry about those at all. Basically, run as many as you want because LEDs do draw significantly less power than incandescent light bulbs.

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Traverse

Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with factory tow package, part number 118270. Here's what our wiring looks like fully installed. Now, we are using a bracket that is not included in our kit, but you can pick up several different options to mount your wiring on our website. Now, our wiring is going to give us a four-pole flat and all the required lights to have a trailer going down the road safely, such as our stop lights, turn signals and clearance lights. Now, this kit is for the factory tow package, so we're just going to have one length of wire that's going to run to our factory connector. Then, we're going to have a few fuses and relays that we're going to put in that'll start making everything function properly. Now that we've seen what it looks like when it's fully installed, let's show you how we got it there. To begin our installation, I already went ahead and removed our fascia door right here just so we can have access to our hitch and back here. Now, we're going to need to find the factory end that we're going to connect our harness to, which is going to be on the passenger side.

Today on our 2014 Chevrolet traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and showing how to install the Tekonsha T1 vehicle wiring harness for factory tow package with seven way trailer connector, part number 118271. With the seven way, you're going to have more versatility with trailers. It also allows you to use trailer brakes, as long as you have a brake controller installed on your vehicle. This is what you're going to get in your wiring kit. You're going to get your seven way connector that's going to be hooked up on the back of your vehicle. You're going to have your plug, which this end's going to hook into your seven way once we get it ran. This end's going to hook into your existing wiring, which I'm going to show you how to install that.
