Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2021 Ram 2500, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Curt 7-way Round in-bed Wiring Kit. But before we do that, why don't we check it out and make sure that this is something that's gonna work for you. When it comes to an in-bed Wiring Kit like this one here, it's one of those things that aren't absolutely necessary but it sure does make sense and becomes convenient whenever you have your Gooseneck or 5th Wheel trailer hooked up. And that's because the Wiring Connector for your lights and everything are just gonna plug right into there, right into the bed. That's going to allow you to not have to take that Wiring Connector, drape it over your tailgate and run it all the way down to your bumper.
So, you know, it's the right way to do things, honestly at the end of the day. When it comes to this one, it's really convenient. It just tease right in to the back of your factory 7-way and that's where it gets all of its signals and everything from. So because of that, not only are you able to still utilize and maintain the 7-way connector on your bumper, but you're also gonna be able to get the one here inside of your bed. So not really a whole lot to these, one thing I like to touch on is the quality.
It's definitely not out bad by any means. Everything feels solid, the wires are nice and thick. Everything else, if you like the cap, there's a a good spot for you to get your fingers under there easy. So even if it was cold out and you had some bigger gloves on or something, you could still grab it and work with it. And then on the bottom side, there's another catch here.
So you plug your trailer connector in, the spring loaded cap kind of sits down on it and that catch will help prevent your trailer wiring from becoming accidentally pulled out. So it's a little peace of mind there knowing that this isn't just gonna fall out and then you lose all your signals and everything. So when it really comes down to it, if you have a Gooseneck or a 5th-Wheel, the Wiring Connector here, this will kind of just complete that package and have everything set up the way it's supposed to be. As far as the installation goes, it is really straightforward. Shouldn't really take you a whole lot of time.
You do have to drill a hole inside of your bed there to pass that connector through so you will need a hole saw. And once that's done, you kind of just push a wire through there, plug in the connector, screw it in and plug it in down at your bumper. So it really isn't, really isn't too complicated. But if you'd like to see how that's done, feel free to hang around. We'll go ahead and do that together now. To begin our wiring installation, we're gonna be here up in the bed of the truck and we need to create an opening, that way we can mount our bar connector plug. So generally speaking, right here in this area is a really popular spot. It's out of the way, but it's still easy to get to. And so I've done just kinda held it up and then I put a little mark there where I wanna drill. With that said, look in behind the bed and make sure you have the space behind there. You obviously don't wanna drill through here and then keep going and drill out through the outside of your truck. But we have quite a bit of room here and so I think we'll be all right. With that said, I'm gonna take my hole saw and put this through that. So a lot of times these trucks will have this extra piece of paneling here. And obviously once you get the main hole cut out, we can come back and get this portion cut out as well. Once you have that hole completely created, just to help or protect this exposed bare metal from drilling, I'm gonna take a paint stick and just get a layer of paint over it. Spray paint will work too but I found in the past using these paint sticks just kind of ring set over spray, get on the side and speed things up a little bit. So that's what I'm gonna use. So now what we can do is grab our new harness and we're gonna take the end that has the T on it, the two connectors, feed the surge to the bottom side of the truck. A lot of times this can be tight so you kind of have to just figure out which way it goes in the best and go from there. So you can pop in there and then drop it all the way down. And this side here, what you're gonna do is plug the connector into it. I do suggest using some Dielectric Grease to coat the terminals. That'll help keep it protected from corrosion and things like that. Put a little bit on there and then simply just plug that right in. From there, we will just line this on up. Here it's where we want it, it's where it looks square and good, so that looks all right. So like that and then we'll use the provided soft tapping screws to secure the stone. Now underneath the vehicle, here's where our wiring comes down. If you wanna mention, I did temporarily just pull off our spare tire. Just makes it, gives us a lot more room to work but you don't have to, it's your choice. But with that said, I'm gonna run my wire over here and I'm just gonna loosely route everything now. Once I have it all plugged in, then we can come back and zip tie it up and everything else. But our T connector is gonna eventually connect to our bumper connector there. So we need to remove that, you can push down on that pen and pop it free. And then we can take our T connector and again down here too I'm gonna put some more Dielectric Grease, both ends of it. We're just gonna T this in. So one end is gonna plug in our factory connector there. The other side will plug into the actual plug on our bumper. Just use some of the included zip ties just to secure wiring up, tied against our back bumper, run it across. I had a couple, maybe two foot of extra wiring that I didn't really need. So I just bundle rolled up and secured it out of the way over here. And that'll finish up our look at and our insulation of the Curt 7-way Round in-bed Wiring Kit on our 2021 Ram 2500..

Mount this 7-way, RV-style connector in your truck bed for quick, simple hookup of your 5th-wheel or gooseneck trailer. Custom harness plugs in-line with your existing factory wiring so that you can retain use of your vehicle's factory 7-pole.Great 5th Wheel plug installed in right /rear of my 2024 Ram 3500 DRW long box pickup. Why pay $150 at the dealership when you can buy the same plug here for less than half.
The trailer wiring harness worked great. No problem with installation.
Connecting to the existing wire harness was straightforward and easy on the other-hand finding a place on the side wall wasn’t easy. I put the plug together and measured and could not find a place with enough space between the inner and outer sheet metal. Maybe there was but I didn’t want to chance it, did not want a hole I couldn’t use. i ended up putting it in the post behind the tail light. I used the round area in the tail light area as a guide (see pic). To get the wire up through from beneath the light I cut a small piece of metal to allow the wire access (see pic). I am very happy with the location where the plug will not be damaged.
Would have been an Easy install except when you have had your truck (2018 , 1 ton SRW) undercoated. It still, overall was an easy install, just took an extra 30 minutes. Coating was covering the bumper plug. I would recommend this product for a DIY. Transgender.
Curt quality wiring harness. Straightforward installation. Highly recommend this product.
Wiring fit was fine but the 7 pin itself is too long. I mounted it right next to my factory 110v in the bed and since it’s so deep, it hit the inside of my bed when mounted (and made a dimple on the outside of the bed). Now the plate/face has to stick out 1/2 inch in the bed. Very frustrating.
This has repeatedly worked perfect for us at Trailer Country, Inc. Thanks for
your service.
I like the replaceable connector end, and the 90 degree harness end that joins it, but 7' of wire for my application is about 3' too long. Extra wire just increases resistance. Would be nice if they made a 4' version.

No issues with the harness after a year. Still wish they offered a shorter version though.
Doesn't fit 24 Ram 2500 in factory location. Plug is way too long and hits bedside. Even if it did fit the wire loom doesn't drop straight down from the plug. It comes out the top at an angle. The wire loom would have to be pushed up past the actual plug and if it gets wet water will drain directly into the backside of the plug. Absolutely terrible product!!
Install was very easy, wish it would come with some of that gel you’re suppose to put inside of it. Just needs a little and no need to buy a whole big tube of it. Haven’t used it yet but was everything I needed for my Fords new gooseneck. Didn’t want to plug it in at bottom of bottom of bumper

Has worked great
Products are amazing, but the customer service was even better! Stacey and Amy made the process so easy and I had all my products in a couple of days. Will definitely be buying from etrailer again.
Easy installation. Works great!
I used this cable to replicate 7-pole to the bed of a Ram 2500.
I also have a 4-pole at the bumper and wanted to have all three locations 'hot'.
This cable does not "move" the functionality.
It REPLICATES it, while keeping the 4-pole functional.
7-pole at bumper or 7-pole in bed.
4 pole at bumper.
I used the 120v factory hole because this truck does not have an inverter, nor will I be adding one. The 5th wheel camper has that.
I did have to fabricate an 'adapter' to cover the factory mounting holes, but that was easy and is now a rubberized, waterproof mounting.
All good.
Thanks Paul!
I purchased this unit after reading the reviews. I received both the C56070 and a B&W OEM hitch within a few days of placing my order. Etrailers’s customer service is excellent! The installation of this wiring harness took about twenty minutes including cutting the hole for mounting. Everything but the hole saw was included in the package! I am very pleased with my purchase!
Be sure to watch their installation videos prior to purchasing, they give real insight into the process!
The plug in is located in the bottom left corner of the photo!
Installation was very easy and straightforward. It took about 10 minutes; once the spare tire was out. The hardest part was taking out and putting back in, the spare tire. If you have a 5th gen Ram that didn’t come with a gooseneck plug, there should be a plastic cover where it would be. Pop that out and your hole for the wiring is already there. There will be four small squares in the corner. The plug that is mounted to the firewall has enough clearance, so you can mount it to the bed using the provided self-tapping screws.
Great product! a 10 for sure.
The 7 foot cord was more than adequate. Good quality product. I installed on 2019 Ram 2500 Big Horn.
I will tell you dont even try the install without lowering the spare tire. Even if you are able to fish the wire over (like I did) you will not be able to make the connection to the existing 7 pinn on the bumper. the plug adapter is wired in such a way that you cannot get your hand and the wire in the right orientation. The install of the unit will be less than an hour and probably closer to 30 min.
One last tip, when reinstalling the spare be careful not to push the tire to far to the front there is a thin metal shroud that the tire will rub on and squeak over every little bump. test it before you are done, ask me how I know. LOL
2018 Ram 2500 w/6.5' bed
Quality seems good. Install easy. Works fine if you plan on putting the plug in the back of the bed. Will not reach to the front wheel wells though! Putting in an extension as this is for a slide-in camper.
Exactly as advertised. Direct replaceme nt
This harness is excellent. It plugged right in and looks like it should last a while. It also included plenty of zip ties and the necessary mounting screws. The hardest part was mustering up the nerves to drill a 2-1/8” hole in the bed of your truck. After drilling the hole, I put touch up paint on the bare metal to prevent rust. I also put silicone sealant in the screw holes, after they were tapped, to seal the metal there too. Install was quick and easy with the right tools; just the hole saw and a drill driver with the appropriate socket for the mounting screws.
As usual the ordering at etrailer.com was fast and easy. Shipment was fast and delivered on time. The 7way extension for gooseneck was as advertised. The toughest part of installation was feeding the end of the wiring harness through the post channel. Had one of these on my previous truck and missed it on my new truck. I recommend this product and etrailer.com

Works great
This wiring harness worked and installed just like y’all said it would. It is great. The only thing I would have liked was ETRAILER to offer a plug that is compatible with the pre-drilled holes in newer trucks. The plug this harness came with left an empty space above the plug. I didn’t want to drill more holes in my truck bed so I had to find a compatible plug
2022 ram 3500 long bed. Was perfect length if you install it on the rear driver side of bed. In the video i saw of someone installing it they cut the hole then shoved the double connector end of the harness down from the bed. I found it easier to fish a string down the hole and then tie the string to the clip part of the single side of the harness and pull it up. That plug has to go through the hole straight or else it gets caught up and having the string tied to the clip helps pull it up and through the hole straight.
Looks like a well designed product
These kits make in bed camper wiring ea sy.
