Video Transcript for Pollak Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring PK11893-11932 Review

Today were going to review part number PK11893-11932. This is the Pollak Fifth Wheel Gooseneck T-Connector Wiring Harness with the included 7-way connector for the truck bed. This part is great for trucks that are pulling fifth wheels or goosenecks. This will allow you to provide a second 7-way connector in the bed of your truck closer to your fifth wheel or gooseneck. Basically, what this wiring harness consist of, it will have the 7-way which is to be used in the bed of your truck. You have to drill a hole into the truck bed and then install this.

It will include the harness itself which is a 7-1/2 foot long harness. On one end is the T-connector. On the other end are the loose pins that will need to be pinned in to this connector which youll attach to the extra 7-way. Now basically this will plug into your OEM harness. On your truck you actually have a 7-way already thats like this.

What youll need to do is remove it, unplug underneath your truck, unplug the OEM wiring harness from the back of your factory 7-way thats on there now. Youll take this end of the T-connector and plug it into your OEM wiring harness, this other end with the blue locking ring in there. Well plug into the factory 7-way thats on the back of your truck. Now what you need to do is go to the other end of this harness and -youll see the pins are all loose that need to be pinned to the connector here. What you want to do is if you go to the product page for this part number or the wiring harness, at the bottom of the page we have a picture of this socket and it will show you the numbers on it.

Theres also, if you look real close here, Ill try to show you the numbers are actually marked on the connector itself or the socket right here. That will help you out. What you want to do is on the product page it will show you what wire goes to what number on this socket. It will say number one so youll find the hole here that will have a one by it, which will be right here. Then it will say red wire.

You just take this red wire thats coming out of the harness and then push it into the red hole that has a number one by it. Okay, and when you push it in you can hear it lock into place. It snaps into place and is locked in there. Then youll just go around, take each wire, it will say number two is the white wire. Theres the number two hole. Youll take the white wire and push that in and just go all the way around. Usually what you want to do is I would recommend to also get the middle wire plugged in there because you dont want to have them all plugged on the outside and then it will be hard to get to the middle one. Once the wires would all be connected to this, what you want to do then is take this blue locking ring and line it up with this. Theres a cut out right here and then just push that down over it and that will lock all those pins into place. Before you do this you want to make sure that is pinned correctly because this is pretty hard to get off. It would end up looking like this when this ones already pinned in with the locking plate in. Now, if by chance when you do push one of these in and its the wrong on and the wrong hole you find out, theres a simple solution. All you have to do is look at the one thats wrong. If you say this red one is in the wrong hole, look right here and right underneath where the metal clip is pushed in there, theres a little tab. What you want to do is just take your little screwdriver, push that tab towards the center of this connector and boom, it will allow you to pull the wire right out so theres no harm if you get the wrong one in there, then just get the right one and push it in there. Once you have all these wired correctly or pinned correctly and the locking ring on then you can--this would already be installed in the bed of your truck. Just take this end, line it up, boom, push it right on it will be locked into place. If youre all good with it just push this gray locking ring down and that will lock everything together so nothing will come apart. Before you push this locking ring down, if you need to take it off, just push this little tab down here and that will be removed easily. Just a few tips on installing this to make it a lot easier. This will fit Chevy, GMC, Ford and Nissan trucks. Again, the length of this harness is 7-1/2 ft and it does come with a one-year limited warranty. That should do it for review on part number PK11893-11932.

First of all what I like about this product...it does what it's supposed to do. That is, to tap into the OEM wiring harness and provide a trailer wiring plug in the truck bed for a gooseneck trailer. What I don't like had entirely to do with installation. There were no instructions...none. Not even a diagram showing which wires go in which holes. The plug was marked with what the wires do but not the color. I know what colors are generally used for what task on trailer wiring, but does the manufacturer? It turns out they do but I had to stop in the middle of the installation, go into the house, turn on the computer and watch the install video. Not the end of the world, but a PITA none-the-less. My other major issue was with the install screws provided. These are the cheapest POS, made in china screws they could find. They were also slotted head screws. Come on...really?!?! Slotted head screws!?!?! Really?!?! On top of that these screws weren't self-tapping, like you think would be used on the INSIDE of the truck bed, they had a nut on the back side which a person would supposedly snake on, somehow, in the blind space between the inner and outer walls of the truck bed. Since I didn't have a helper, nor 7' long arms, I dug through my screw stash and found the exact self-drilling, self-tapping screws that Pollack should have provided. I actually would have preferred they provide no install screws at all. I don't know which is sillier. That Pollack won't spend a nickel more for the screws that they should provide, or that it annoys me so much. For a nickel work of screws, and a single picture or diagram showing which wire goes into what hole, I would have given Pollack an excellent rating. Pollack would do well to take some customer satisfaction classes. Perhaps they could look to B & W or etrailer for that. 172730

Ditto Ditto Tim B! Mine did come with self tapping screws, but only two! Go figure. So, I figure Ill put the two in kitty corner and round up the others. But the screws arent even long enough to screw in. The hole got drilled but not enough threads left to screw. They supplied 12 inch and needed to be 3/4. The other screws they supply are worthless. Just ship 4 self tappers 3/4 long and forget the others. And an included wiring diagram would have been nice. Like you said, I had to bring up the website again just to wire the plug.

In the video it states that if you look on the page for this installation and scroll down it shows you a colour diagram of the colour coding. As for the screws I guess I should just go buy 4 before I even order this kit. Cheers

Ford F-250

This product works great. The plug that was in my bed had been mostly wired by the previous owner, and his wiring job left something to be desired. I needed to replace the factory wiring to my plug on my bumper, and I just didn't like the thought of splicing wires on my brand new harness to make my plug in my bed functional again. I found this product, and it gave me exactly what I was looking for- a solution that required no splicing of my new harness and a good, solid wiring job to my plug. I want to do it right the first time and know that it is going to work when I need it. From reserch that I have done, I found that Pollak was the OEM supplier of the wiring harness on my F-250, so you know you are getting factory quality with this product. The installation is pretty straight forward, but it can't hurt to watch the video on this product. It took me some time to modify the existing hole in my bed so this plug would fit, but that was the hardest part of the installation. Just make sure you pick a spot that has enough area for the wiring and the back of the plug to fit before you go cutting holes. The hardware kit that comes with the product didn't really help me out, but I didn't see where it was advertised that it comes with hardware, so I can't knock them for that. Two final, but important pieces of advice I would like to share: Make sure you run your wiring to the location of the plug BEFORE you put the wires into the socket. I didn't think about this, but luckily, the plug barely fit where I needed it to go. Also, make sure you connect the wires correctly before pushing the blue piece into place. There is another plug just like it on the other end of the wire. Use it as a template and double check....no triple check your connections. Like I said earlier, this plug does exactly what I wanted it to do. I now have a factory quality connection with correctly sized wires to my plug in my bed. Plus, buying this option is cheaper than many other ones and allows you to run wires into tight places that similar products may not...not knocking other products, I just see that as a positive feature of this one. I hope this helps! 70155

2013 Ford F-350

I bought the Pollak PK11893-11932 wire harness to install in my 2013 Ford F350 King Ranch pickup. I watched the video both on youtube and on e-Trailer's site and the install went exactly as described. One item of interest, I unbolted the bracket that supports the OEM trailer connection at the rear of the truck because I found this easier than trying to pry the connections apart while the bracket was still on the truck. Two bolts and it came right off and allowed me to see the top side of the OEM connector for easier separation of the Ford wire harness. Other than that, it went as smooth as silk. Total time to complete the job, about 45 minutes. This is a great product. I would highly recommend this for any 5th wheel towing vehicle. It makes the whole appearance of your truck and 5th wheel look neater, instead of having the 5th wheel cable hanging over the tailgate. Very nice. Thanks Pollak and e-Trailer. 88852

Thanks for the follow up Patrick. I love the Y connector. I installed it in my 2013 F-350 King Ranch, for the 5th wheel I tow and it makes the whole connection neat and clean. No wires hanging over the tail gate. The install was a breeze. I was somewhat apprehensive about drilling a 2 hole in the wall of my brand new truck, but Etrailers product installation instructions relieved my anxiety. I appreciate the attention to detail that obviously went into the design of this product. Once again thanks for the follow up.

The Pollak 5th Wheel T-Connector w/7 Pole, is a great product. The hardest part of the installation on my 2014 Ford F-250 truck was cutting the hole in the box, need a drill that has power. I used a half inch electric drill. The Pollak connector plugged into the Ford factory electrical connections with ease. This T-Connector was just what I was looking for. I pull a 32' 5th Wheel Camper, the camper cord plugs into the Pollak connector with no issues. Thanks! 148953

2012 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Wiring harness came quickly and was exactly as described. Super simple installation. Drill your hole in your truck bed where you want your 5th wheel plug to be. I used a 2.5” hole saw. Follow the color coordinated drawing to install the wires in your new plug. Just unplug your existing factory 7way plug, feed the wiring down through your new hole, use 4 metal screws to secure your new plug in your bed. Now go underneath, route your new harness and zip tie out of the way. Plug in the new harness to your oem factory 7 way plug, then use the remaining plug to plug back into your 7 way plug mounted to the truck on or under the bumper if you plan on using that plug again. I wanted to as I have a four way on my bumper as well. Fast and easy, no sweat. 542064

2008 Ford F-350

eTrailer Shipped The T-Connector Within 24 Hours And I Received My Invoice Thru Email. The Price Was The Lowest I Found On The Internet. I Called First To Make Sure They Had The Connector In Stock And The Young Lady I Talked To Was Very Courteous And Professional. She Answered All My Questions And Had A lot Of Product Knowledge On This Item. Very Easy To Install On A 2008 F350, It's Not Rocket Science Guys. The Hardest Thing To Do Is Removing The White Clip From The Factory Plug, Dirt And Age Make It A Little Difficult To Remove. Just Put A Little WD40 On It, And Use A Small Screw Driver And Work It Off Without Breaking it. Also Put The Yellow Wire #7 In The Center Hole Of The Plug First, It Makes It Easier Rather Then Doing It Last. You Can Print The Instructions On eTrailer's Website And Also Look At The Great Video They Have On The Installation. 53115

I give this product and the video an excellent rating. I'm the 2nd owner of my F350, and the guy before me did a whole lot of splicing, to install a 5th wheel plug. It shorted out. I bought the original trailer harness and this set up eliminated a bundle of spliced wires. Saved myself about $200. 152894

Product was EXACTLY as described. The video for my series truck made the installation a "duh" moment, in that any ol' cave man could do it. The quality of the parts are impressive, no doubt it will last the life of the truck. Things that would make the purchase even better? A link on the product page detailing the pin-out connection for various vehicles. I never found one, so I went by the video, then verified with a multimeter. Everything is working! Second, my wife had saved a packet of dielectric grease (about the size of a sugar packet) from a previous purchase. It contained a perfect amount to coat all three surfaces that needed it. Along with the big tube, it would be really nice if etrailer.com also offered the packets! 136328

This was shipped quickly and arrived on time. The extension pigtail was exactly as described and was as easy to install on my 2004 F-250 as the videos purport. Based on other's comments I actually pulled the unterminated end up from below and through the hole I drilled in the bed sidewall before terminating to avoid the tight fit of the two connectors on the other end through that hole in the side. My only complaint, as with others who have reviewed it, is that only two self tapping screws were provided (4 should be used) to anchor the receptacle in the bed sidewall, and they aren't even long enough to do the job. But that's an easy/cheap fix, especially when you know it's coming that way. Overall I'm very happy with it. 252800

Before you try to install this item watch the video online,It's very helpful,I watched it twice to make sure I did't miss anything,I went right to work on it,The install was very easy,Be carefull when pulling the plug apart in the beginning because you may brake the plastic lock clip,Drilled the hole in the bed,ran the wire up and plugged the color wires in,you will hear a click to make sure they are in.....Used 4 sheet metal screws and I done in 25 minutes...I highly recommend this item,The only thing that was a minus was they do not give you the screws and do not tell that you need wire ties... Also make sure you copy the color of the wires what holes they go in because they don't give you instructions for that ....... 38767

Sorry but you need to know. This part by Pollack is of poor quality, this doesn't happen too often but this time you should look into this. First the plugs would not go into the existing truck factory under bumper plug at all. There had been a plastic notch that should have been removed and was... half way. I fixed this with a small Dremmal grinder. Then when the plug went far enough in it would not latch because again, poor quality... the cast plastic latch was not right and again I was able to fix it by very careful Dremmal grinding till it latched. I would have sent this part back to you but don't need he hassle. Don't worry I'll still shop with you, I know the world is not perfect. 175540

My husband installed the pig tail lights (my husband's previous job entailed electrical wiring) and during our trip of 800 miles we lost lights to both our camper and dolly that was loaded with my car. We drove about 150 miles with no lights other than pickup head lights. Come to find out the clip in the plug (no sure I am explaining correctly) was broke off and the two plugs wouldn't stay together. The vibration worked the plug loose. My husband has now put two tie straps on the plug and have taken electrical tape and wrapped the tie straps and the plug. That seems to work so far but it looks like crap. Hopefully the sun won't cause more problems by heating up both the straps and tape. 156993

I purchased this connector because my truck did not have the connectors to plug in the factory connector. This one plugs right in and was easy to install but it has to be mounted low in the bed so there is enough clearance to the outside bed sheet metal. That would make it a little harder to reach when hooking up and reaching over the top of the bed. The factory connector has a box that raises the receptacle so it can be mounted higher in the bed and I managed to acquire one of those for my installation. This didn't come with printed instructions so I had to look up the install video for the wire color code to assemble the connector. A little inconvenient but not a big deal. 47503

Overall a good product. Install took me about 30 minutes. I only have two complaints: 1) no instructions came with it. Wasn't a big deal. I am mechanically inclined enough to figure it out. That and a quick visit to etrailer's website and u can watch the video 2) I'm not sure if this is an issue with my truck or the harness but where the new harness plugs into the factory harness I could not get it closed tight enough to make the snap engage. I fixed it by putting a zip tie around the assembly to hold it together. I am leaning more toward an issue with the plug as opposed to the truck. It's a 2014 F250 crew cab short bed. Overall, very pleased. Shipping was super fast. 211321

This product is a great idea. It made the 5th wheel 7 pin plug accessible from the bed of my pickup without cutting any factory wires to install. The product was ordered, and shipped in a timely manner, and I would definitely order this product again if needed. I only had one issue with the installation, and that is the receptacle on this cable that fits into the factory wiring harness did not fit really well. I had to really compress the 2 plugs together with a channel lock to get the proper connection. Even still, the plug did not lock properly, but all circuits are working fine. This was installed into a 2012 Ford F-350 King Ranch. 60513

2012 Ram 2500

I purchased a Pollak 5th Wheel/Gooseneck T-Connector with 7-pole Part# PK11893-11932 and received item promptly. The wiring harness was easy to install and the install was virtually self-explanatory-(if you have some mechanical/electrical experience). I am pleased with the product as I have used Pollak products in the past and was familiar with the quality associated with the name. I am also pleased with the entire experience of doing business with etrailer and will use them again. I appreciate their variety of products to assist in most any trailer repair, hook-up or axle modifications. 500642

To everyone thinking about placing an order with etrailer, DO IT!!! This on line retailer is one of the best, if not the best, when it comes to customer service. I made a mistake and ordered the wrong wiring harness for my truck. Not only did they direct me to the correct part, they put it on order and then gave me the return authorization for the mis-ordered part, all in one phone call, kudos to Bridget. I got the correct part 5 days later and a reimbursement to my credit card 10 days later. Great company that I will definitely be using in the future, and so should you! Mike R. 81632

Enjoyed the product at first but have not been able to use it for the last six months. Had to go back to the bumper mount harness. Not sure if a wire came loose or what. The left brake light does not work and Im not sure how to repair the harness. But the good news is the OEM still works fine on the bumper. Thanks for following up and if you have any suggestions on how to remedy the problem I would be grateful. Thanks....Mark Bennett

Thanks for taking the time to let us know. It is strange that the left brake signal is the only the only function that fails. That same wire carries both the left turn signal and left brake signal. If there is something wrong with the wiring on that pin that causes one to fail, they both should fail. My first step would be to clean all the contacts on the plug-in portions. Any auto parts store will have an electrical contact cleaner spray. Use that to get everything clean. Then I would take a look at the connector that you assembled when you first hooked the kit up. It is possible that the pin needs to pushed back into place. That is pin number 1 on our diagram on the page. If neither of those solves it for you, let me know or give us a buzz at 1-800-298-8924 and we can go through some more diagnostic steps.

The "plug and play" unit went together very easy. I would only add two items that would help. There should have been an instruction sheet giving the size hole to drill in the truck bed and maybe a wiring diagram that showed what color wire went where. Because I wanted the plug unit to be at the front area of my truck bed and not the back, a little longer (maybe 6") harness would have helped with routing the wiring harness a little easier. I have a 6 1/2' bed, it would have never worked for an 8' bed. Had it not been for these two items I would have given an "Excellent" rating. 46185

Seems odd to buy something intended for a "factory" installation but yet the wires must be assembled in correct order in the plug to function properly. Luckily I had a test light and was able to get everything installed correctly. This attaches to the back of the factory plug below the bumper. I'd much rather it fit within the wiring harness along the frame rail (where that factory plug harness attaches). Should I back into something and damage the factory plug, I also run the risk of ruining this harness. I'd likely look at a different product if I had to do it over again. 190327

I received wire harness within a few days of ordering it. Was very surprised when I opened the box that all assembly had already been completed. Went out to my Chevrolet 2500hd to locate my plug placement and began. 30 minutes later I was finished it took me longer to decide where to place the wire ties than it did to plug everything in. I have a good bit of mechanical experience but even if you are a novice this install is a piece of cake. Hats off to etrailer for their ease of ordering and for supplying a good product. Thanks again and I am also an etrailer repeat customer. 171339

2011 Chevy 2500 HD

I added this plug to my 2011 2500HD Chevy as well as a Reese Elite Series under bed gooseneck / fiver hitch. The plug assembly is well made and installation was a snap. Just twist out the factory plug in the bumper, unplug it from the connector and add the harness in-between. I located mine just inside the tailgate on the drive's side about two thirds up from the bed bottom. I have recommend this assembly to a good friend and he's also very pleased with it. I gave it 4 stars because only time will tell how it stands up to the salt during our New England winters. 13221

Very fast shipping for the 5th wheel sliding hitch, rails and wiring ! Installation was very straight forward although the instructions were a bit vague. Watched the installation videos a couple of times which was a big help. Took about 4 hours for everything including wiring. Could have been quicker if I took off the rear wheels and lowered the exhaust but just worked around them. Picked up my new 5th wheel a week later and was very happy with the hitch - No problems at all. This was installed on a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. 342419

Chevy Silverado 3500

Had this 7-Pin adapter installed in the bed (sidewall) of my Silverado 3500 at the time of the 5th wheel hitch installation. Was a clean installation permitting the trailer cable to be connected directly in the truck bed next to the hitch. No need to have it hanging over the tailgate to otherwise plug into the socket under the bumper. Instead, this connects to the back side of that socket below the bumper, and permits the secondary socket on the other end to be available for trailer cable connection in the truck bed. Works great! 177999

This wiring system went together really quick. The plug-n-play style makes for nice setup. I mounted this on a 2010 Ford 250 Short Bed. I was using it for my 5th wheel hook-up. The only problem was I mounted in on the inside of the front left side of my truck bed close to the area of my gas fill that's located on the outside. The wiring harness was on the short side for this location and I had to do a clever wiring route. Another 6" would have made a big difference. This was the only reason I didn't rate it a 5 on the rating scale. 62325

Customers would like to know the wiring diagram that applies to their vehicles they ordered your product for. Customers do not want to search the Internet for the information or anyone else for something they have paid good money for. My assumption that the directions would come with the product, makes me like a bigger fool. 355122

Good product from Pollak. Fit right into my bed and connected up to the existing 7-pin on the hitch. Note that there are no instructions with it, not that you really need any, but just make sure you wire the pins properly. I did notice the wiring color is the same as I have on my factory connector (Ford), but the order of the wires is slightly different. So, again, just pay attention when you connect it all up so you don't have crossed connections and end up activating your trailer brakes when you turn the blinker on!! 314571

2012 Ford F-350

I have it installed in a 2012 ford f350. The first thing I found in reading the directions is they want a minimum of 5 inches of space between the bed and the fender and I had about 4 so off I went to find a spacer which of course was not furnished with the product. By the way, you can get by with 4 1/2 inches. I wanted the Hopkins unit but they were not in stock as they turn 90 degrees at the back end of the plug. Sure would be nice to know these things b-4 ordering. Otherwise it seems to be a good product. 79242

Great looking product! Works great. Easy install. No problems at all. A LOT of extra cable. If you're going to install in a 2004 Ford F250, though, DO NOT try to mount it between the back post pocket and the wheel well. There is NOT enough room behind interior wall of the bed there. You'll have to mount it on post pocket itself. Unfortunately, I found this out the hard way. And I don't blame them, but etrailer won't let you return the product after you've hooked up the plug on the end that goes in the bed. 129133

This is an excellent part. I disagree with your video. Your video says to install the connector before installing harness. Not having the connector on the harness made it easy to install. Works great! ... LutherC in Florida. 112710

Product says it fits 2012 F250. Not enough room between bed sidewall and outer fender. Had to make a spacer or wires would be rubbing and badly crimped against inside of fender. Also couldn't figure out why the wires one end had to be put together by me. No reason why it couldn't have been assembled at factory. Never happy when a product is said to fit a vehicle and has to be modified. Will never buy another Pollack product. 125323

Lights, harness, plug, junction box & break away First off the quality of all the things in the order is as you expect, very good. However, I did find that the fifth wheel harness was a little shorter than I would have liked. I had to position it carefully to get it to fit and It was still tight. An additional inch would have been nice. This is not a huge deal but I did notice. Shipping was prompt and packaging was very good. 5595

I bought this product for a friend for loaning me his dump trailer. But I purchased the same model for my pick up a year ago and it is well worth the money. Highly recommend this product and etrailers step by step video makes it a breeze to install. I had mine done in about a half hour. 259735
