This setup replaces the step, motor, and control unit for the Kwikee 28 Series, so it automatically extends when you open the door and retracts when you close it. The 12V motor and control are wired through a 4-way plug, with a 10A control unit and 12 AWG/16 AWG wiring for reliable performance. You don’t have to think about switching it on or off—it just works every time you use the door.
The powder coated steel frame and solid drive rods with stainless steel bushings make this step strong and smooth. The 23-5/8" wide by 10-1/2" deep tread has a non-slip surface and reflective strips for visibility. With a 300 lb weight capacity, it stays steady when you’re carrying gear or helping someone climb in, and the 7-1/2" drop/rise makes the step up or down feel natural.
You don’t have to worry about the steps getting damaged or left out while driving. The motor automatically retracts if it hits an obstacle and also pulls the step in when the ignition is turned on. These features protect the step and prevent accidental damage if you forget to stow it before moving.
The mounting plate measures 24-1/4" wide by 8-5/8" deep with a 22" x 6-1/2" bolt pattern, so it fits securely in the existing space. The step extends to 9-5/8" and folds to just 6" high, giving you good clearance when retracted. An amber C193 incandescent light automatically illuminates the step so you can see where you’re stepping at night.
Every connection and pivot point is built for long-term use. The weatherproof wiring resists moisture and road grime, and air-pressed rivets at each pivot keep the mechanism tight and stable through years of movement. It’s a single-step design that’s simple, strong, and ready to handle daily use for RV life or travel.
