Question:
The steps Im replacing has the exposed half moon plate gear with teeth that the motor turns which in turn is connected to a linkage that moves the step in and out. Dont know the brand. Most of the components are worn and sloppy. Hoping this Kwikee can be used as a replacement. Are all electric steps wired with the 4 wire harness? If changing the style and brand of step, will the wiring be different? Thanks for your insight.

You can use the Kwikee step as a replacement for your other brand of step. The 4 wires will be the same, the connector may be different but you can splice in the new connector. Because you are switching style and brand you will actually want to use the Kwikee Electric RV Step Complete Assembly # LC3747453 which is the entire assembly. The Replacement Step, Motor, and Control for Kwikee RV Electric Steps # LC3747452 will only provide the step, motor and control. The # LC3747453 kit will include a 4-way pigtail that can be used to splice into your wiring if the plugs are not compatible. I have included a couple of diagrams with measurements so that you can verify that this step will fit, as well as an installation video.
