Just installed the kit this afternoon and everything working. Everywhere I read said you must change the magnetic switches, but when I put power to the step it worked before I had a chance to change the switches, it works in all modes with the old switches.

by:

I installed this kit on a customers RV and he happy it works great. I have not heard from him for any warranty or complaint. I will use this company when needed.

I havent heard anything from the customer. Good news

by:

Easy to install- exact replacement of factory installed equipment.

by:

Everything needed was in the package and I self installed with no problems. I made one minor error on the install but was able to correct the situation after some trial and error. I will say that you need to connect the step linkage before you activate motor to see if it works.
I had a couple of follow up questions on a couple of wires and after contacting trailer Kevin answered my questions satisfactorily and in a very timely manner.

by:

This replacement part fit perfectly and easy to install. I recommend it.

Very good customer service, and received my order on time.
The job and the finished result turned out perfect, the steps work like brand new !! Thanks for the help etrailer !!

by:

Simple swap!
Almost a plug and play
item except for having to connect the new plug end via wire connectors.
You do have to switch the wires on the magnetic door sensor too.
Works better than the original!

Works as good as the day I installed it.

by:

I have a 40 series step that was getting unreliable.
I replaced the controller and motor \ gearbox with the LC379145 kit.
The old harness plug was changed to the new one.
The only thing I had to supply was a few butt connectors and zip ties.
Everything bolted up and works just like it is supposed to.

by:

Received parts in two days.
Excellent
service.

by:

Everything went great.

by:

I repaired my enter step , then I traded the motor home away for a newer one.

by:

VERY EASY install, I lengthened the mag door switch leads to clean up the wiring, making future maint. easier. Operational checks as advertised. Wiring diagrams and tech data also VERY helpfull. Quiet, Smooth operation. Had been experiencing intermittent operation and occasional gear box lockup with our unit.

by:

Nicole provided helpful guidance in addressing our Kwikee step issues.

by:

Have a 97 RV that I put this on. Easy install, great torque on the drive. Stairs pull up nice and tight. Order arrived fast. Would recommend the assembly and etrailer to anyone.

by:

The kit had everything you needed. The installation was easy to do. Thanks for your tip in how to maintain an Rv.

by:

Thanks, great service parts work great, Evan

by:

I was very pleased that the replacement part physically fit perfect. Wiring it in was easy because of directions.

by:

it was a very good experience my original order only came with half of what was supposed to be in it. I called customer service and explained that to the agent and they were very helpful and apologized for the mishap and they expidited the rest so I could leave on my trip.

by:

Needed the motor and controller to get my old RV steps working again. The kit was easy to use by removing the old parts and replacing with the new parts in less than 30 minutes. Totally happy with the results, working steps at less cost than replacing the full step package. Etrailer has been my “go to” for this and a Receiver package in the past. Their videos helped in determining the “do it yourself” level of effort and provided confidence in getting the installations done easily and correctly. Thanks!

A year later and still extremely happy with all etrailer products I’ve bought, installed and used. The step motor controller package has operated like new. As I mentioned last year, etrailer Is definitely my “go to” company for best products, price and help via “DIY” videos.

by:

This upgrade kit had enough torque to completely lift the stairs on my 2004 Bigfoot 3000MH24SL - the other upgrade kit, LC29VR, did not. It works great now. The only difference is the old steps “off” switch, to keep the stairs extended with opening and close the door, was an open circuit for “off” - new controls are an open circuit for “on”. I just reversed and relabeled the switch in the RV so it works as original.

Step motor still working great after a year - I expect it to last a long time.

by:

Motor & controller install in my 1998 Monaco Dynasty went fairly fast.
However, whomever replaced it previously hid the step "lock" switch fuse in the hollow below the passenger's drink holder. It took several hours to discover why the step didn't lock extended. After finding the hidden blow fuse, it all works perfectly!

Works as designed!

After talking to ETrailer they recommended the exact upgrade kit I needed for my older 2002 Monaco Windsor. It wasn't difficult to install and I'm very happy with the Kwikee upgrade kit. I was really impressed, because ETrailer's price were cheaper than Kwikee's. In fact, the people at Kwikee recommended I order it from ETrailer.

  • What Is The Function Of The Purple Wire On A Kwikee Control Module
Hey James, The purple wire on the control module for the upgrade kit # LC379145 you purchased is for the optional step light. Most of the ones we've seen have all just had the connector cut off and spliced the wires together with a butt connector, but the manufacturer does have a warning sticker stating that if you cut any of the wiring you'll void the warranty. Lippert's customer service has typically been pretty easy to work with if there's an issue but they could potentially reject...

It sounds like you switched the two wires when reinstalling the motor. If you recently upgraded the motor in your Kwikee Electric step with part # LC379145 then the door switch needs to be upgraded as well. Usually that is the reason the steps work in reverse, is someone will change out the motor but not use the switch that came with the kit. Somewhere along the...

  • RV Steps Only Come Out With Engine On
I would first check for a switch just inside the door of your coach. In most cases there is a switch on the step system to shut it down so it doesn't move in and out( labeled Entry Step). There will be an override there that allows it to operate when the vehicle is started so if you didn't pull them back in they will retract automatically. This can also deploy the steps when the door is opened overriding the switch. Another cause can be that the main 12V supply switch is turned off...
