Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector

Jeff Hello everybody this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Deka blue butt connectors for the 16-14 gauge size wire and this is for a quantity of five connectors. Now these blue butt connectors will join two lengths of 16 gauge or 14 gauge sized wire and it will insulate the connection with the heat shrinkable nylon for adjustability and durability. Now the blue color on this will indicate the size wire this connector will fit. This one will fit the 16-14 gauge sized wire. And if you forget what color size fits what, it is also stamped on here.

16-14 AWG. Now to install the two wires, what you'll want to do is take your two wires that you're going to connect together and you'll strip off about a quarter of an inch of insulation on each end of the wire. Take your first wire, stick it into this end right here, and push it all the way until it stops. Basically there's a metal casing right there in the middle and in the very center is a little stopper. So when you push the wire in it'll stop and that should put that in the metal casing.

Once you make sure that the stripped portion is under the metal casing, take your crimper, crimp it all the way down until you make a good connection. And then you'll do the same with the second wire. Take the stripped end, stick it all the way in until it goes no further. Make sure it's under the metal or the stripped portion is under that metal casing. And then use your crimper and crimp that side down.

With both of them crimped, then what you'll wanna do is just tug on them, hold both wires and just tug on them. Make sure you have a good connection. Once that's good then what you'll do is get a heat source, like a heat gun, and then just apply heat over this insulation and it will cause this nylon insulation to shrink and it will completely seal around your connection and prevent the elements from causing a problem with your connection. Now this part is for a quantity of five connectors. We do also sell it as a single connector, its part number DWO5744-1.

Or as a ten pack which is part number DWO5744-10. But that should do it for the review on the Deka blue butt connectors for the 16-14 gauge size wire for a quantity of five..

  • Installation of Trailer Lights with Red, Black, and White Wires to Traditional Trailer Wire Colors
Red, black, and white wires are common on many tail light assemblies. When this is the case, you will have red as stop and turn, black as running light, and white as ground. So you will connect yellow to red on one side of the trailer and green to red on the other side. Then on each side you will connect white to your frame or mounting hardware, and brown to black for your running lights. I've attached a video of similar lights # STL69RB to assist. If you need additional wire, use #...

Your 2021 Buick Enclave has a wiring pigtail and not a connector for wiring a Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR. The 4 wires are located below the OBD2 port behind the side kick plate(see Image). This is where you will be able to attach the included pigtail using the Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05744-5 and # DW05745-5. You will only need 2 of each connectors for the 4 wires that connect to the brake controller pigtail.

  • Replacement Wiring for a Palomino B-1200 Truck Bed Camper
Hey Guy, I wasn't able to pin down what exact wiring came on your Palomino camper, but generally the in-bed truck campers use a 7-Way so they are able to provide power to all of the lights as well as any power that the camper requires to operate. To replace a 7-Way you can use the Replacement Connector # e99010 along with Butt Connectors # DW05744-5 and # DW05745-5 to get all of your wiring connected. You'll want to connect the wires by function as opposed to by color. Let me know if...

I would be happy to help! To install the Optronics LED Trailer License Plate Bracket # LPL55CB on your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon and power it through your current trailer connector you will just need to get a trailer end 4-way connector # 18004. You will connect the black wire from the bracket light to the brown wire on the 4-way connector, and the white wire from the bracket light to the white wire on the 4-way connector using heat shrink butt connectors # DW05744-5. In order to attach the Command Electronics Dual LED Trailer Tail Light - Stop, Turn, Tail, Backup - Red and Clear Lens # CE86FR to an aluminum surface you will want to use either a stainless steel, aluminum, or zinc plated screw like part # FA1131822. As aluminum is a rather soft metal, you should not have any issues using self-tapping screws. I also highly recommend you use...

  • Why is 10 or 12 Gauge Wire Recommended for Electric Brake Assemblies
The reason that 10 Gauge # 10-1-1 or 12 Gauge # 12-1-1 wire is recommended for 10" brake assemblies, like part # AKEBRK-35-SA, is because they pull more power than the lights on your trailer. I believe the green wire you are referring to carries the right turn/stop lighting functions as you can see from the attached photo of a trailer side 4-Way. The 14 and 16 gauge wires are too small for the amount of power needing to get to the brake assemblies and they could potentially get too hot,...

  • Entire Light Bar on Trailer Lights up When Either Turn Signal is Used
If your 17" light bar has 3 wires like the Optronics Thinline LED Trailer Tail Light # STL59RB, then it is only meant to be used on one side. It sounds like you wired everything correctly. I believe that you are spot on with why it is not working correctly. For the bar to have 2 different turn signal sections it would need to have 4 wires. Since it only has 3 this means that the entire light bar will light up whenever it gets any kind of signal. If you wanted separate turn signals then...

  • Installing the 4-Wire Pigtail of the Optrionics Tail Light # STL68RB to 5 Wires from Vehicle
You may want to double check your 5 way from your vehicle, because normally the stop and turn signal functions are combined on a single wire and are separate wires based on left side and right side for turn signal. So, you'd have ground, left turn and stop, right turn and stop, running lights, and reverse as your 5 wire functions. I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test each pole function on your vehicle. The LED Trailer Tail Light - Stop, Tail, Turn, Backup - Submersible...

The mushroom vent does not have a fan built in so no wiring or switches are needed. An option for a roof sewer vent that does have a fan is the Ultra-Fab Solar-Powered Plumbing Vent # UF53-945001. You didn't specify what was severed, but this is the most obvious culprit based on how they connect.
