I recently ordered two self adjusting brakes and wire. Through error on my part I ordered the wrong butt connectors. That's okay when I place my next order I will order the correct ones. The brakes were easy to install thanks to all the videos e trailer provides. I will be placing more orders before my 1965 Serro Scotty is completed.

Helped me connect wires for the Redarc controller I bought from you

I'm installing brakes on a little 13' Scamp that didn't originally have them. With the help of very descriptive information on your website, plus videos, etc., I was able to determine exactly what I needed to do the job.
Ordering was painless. Shipping was free due to the amount spent, & the shipment arrived well packed , right on schedule, & it was filled exactly as ordered.
All parts were of top quality. The brakes & drums were Dexter as described & a perfect match for my existing axle.
Thank you etrailer.com. This was my 1st order but it won't be my last.

by:

These worked great for what I needed, ad so far its been a year and everything is still holding.
What is the best part was that etrailer was great on the phone, provided great customer service when ordering and even checked back in a year later to be sure the product was still working. Fantastic service!

The Tow Ready Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Nissan - 20266 and the 12-10 Gauge Butt Connector - 05732-2 were a perfect fit for the prewired harness on the 2013 Nissan Xterra S.
Thank you

by:

I really like this brake controller, It was easy to install and the light display lets you know how much your brake is working. The only problem I came across was that I had to order a special wire adaptor which they don't tell you when you place your order.

by:

The best online store to get your things fixed. Customer service is the best, 100% assurance you’ll get you package received and taken care of. I enjoyed my roof rack with his new clamps from etrailer.com
So quick to answer your concerns. I will always recommend this etrailer.com to my friends

Not a water tight butt connector. Wouldn't use these!

While we dont have butt connectors designed to be water tight, we do have heat-shrink butt connectors like part # DW05744-5 as well as primary wire heat shrink tubing # DW05451. The heat shrink design is intended to help keep as much water as possible out of the wiring connection.

by:

Good quality connector. However recommend using connectors that heat shrink for trailer applications

by:

I ordered several components to repair a damaged trailer connection. Very quick delivery...great email notification of order status...all products as advertised. I'll be back to eTrailer.com whenever I need trailer parts.

by:

Boy, I got my products, all well packed, the day before the three day shipping I was expecting. And a follow-up email with links to the details and instructions that I knew I would be going back to. Thanks George. Now, if you could do something about the rain . . . . .

  • Do Electric Brakes Need to Share Ground Wire?
To wire your electric brakes you will want to run 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 to one of the brakes and run it to the other brake, using butt connectors like # 05732-2 to connect them. The grounds will not be spliced, each brake assembly should have its own ground; please see the accompanying photo which is from our help article on adding electric drum brakes which I have linked for you.

  • Parts Needed to add Electric Trailer Brakes to 1990 Skamper 190c
You are able to install an electric braking system on your trailer. The parts needed are going to be determined by the axle that your camper is equipped with. From what I can tell from your picture, it looks like this is a 4 lug axle which is going to likely mean you have a 2,000-lb axle with a 1-3/4" diameter. In order to verify that is correct you will need to confirm that the Inner and Outer bearings on your trailer wheel hubs match L44649. You can verify this once you've taken it apart...

  • How to Hardwire a 12 Volt Accessory Outlet in a Truck Bed
Only a 7-way trailer connector will have a 12-volt power wire ran to the connector. A 4-way trailer connector will not have a constant 12-volt power wire. As long as the 12-volt power wire running to the 7-way trailer connector is rated for the amperage required for your 12-volt accessory outlet then yes, you can use this wire for powering the circuit. Depending on how the vehicle is set up, your trailer connector may or may not still have power while the vehicle is off. To test this,...

  • How to Wire Reverse Lights on a Trailer with a 4-Way Trailer Connector
We do have a solution for you, however, you will not be able to power reverse lights on a trailer with a 4-pin trailer connector. The reverse lights on a trailer must receive power from the reverse lights on the tow vehicle. To do this, you will want to install a 5-pin connector on the trailer and on the tow vehicle. There are many options, but I recommend installing the Hopkins Endurance 5-way Flat Wiring Kit, # HM47890, for a uniform look. You can simply cut off the 4 pin connectors...

The Ventline Roof Vent with 110V Fan # V2128SP-01 includes two pigtail wire leads and a wiring compartment for making the AC power connection to existing trailer wiring. No plugs or wiring harness are included but you can use butt connectors like # 05732-2. If you need an installation kit you can use part # 344270KITW which includes both mounting screws and sealant and that is suitable for trailer roofs made of metal or coated metal roof and wood (but not rubber). For a rubberized roof...

  • Wire Recommendation for Rewiring Utility Trailer with Brakes
For the brake circuit of your trailer you will want to run 10 gauge wire like our part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot and is standard copper primary wire. We use it all the time here on trailers and it works great. For bonded 14 gauge wire that has 4 wires bundled you would want the part # DW04923-1 which is also sold by the foot. A lot of times people use junction boxes like the part # 38656 to organize the wires on the trailer. Check out the install video I attached for more info...

  • Troubleshooting Hopkins Agility Brake Controller
What you are describing does indeed sound like a short circuit somewhere in the brake output circuit between the brake controller and the trailer connector at the rear bumper. You can confirm this by severing the blue wire a few inches behind where it exits the brake controller. If the problem goes away, you have confirmed the short. The first place to look for the short would be the trailer connector. Closely examine the connector for damage or corrosion. If you can find white or green...

This means you will need to splice into the brake controller wiring under the driver's side dash in order to install the brake controller. There will be a bundle of wires tied together with white tape. These are the wires you will to connect your adapter to. I spoke with Husky and they informed me that they do not offer a replacement control board for the Husky Brute Electric Trailer Jack part # HT87247 (HB4500). Therefore, your only option would be an entire replacement unfortunately. If you can afford to go down to a 3,500 lb jack then we do have the Electric Jack w/ Footplate part # EJ-3520-BBX which is a very cost effective replacement option. The Electric Jack w/ Footplate like the Husky Brute Electric Trailer Jack has a drop leg for...

  • Wiring a Side Marker Light to the Running Light Wire on a Trailer
You can run a jumper wire to T-off from the main running light wire to the side marker light using something like a quick splice connector, # SWC501915-1. Or you can use a butt connector, # 05732-2. In one end, place the wire from the trailer connector and in the other end insert the wire from the side marker light and the wire to the tail light. You would need to cut the brown wire at some point to wire it in this manner. And yet another option is to run the side marker wire all the...

  • What Gauge Wire Do The Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes 23-47-48 Use?
Hello Ted. The Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes # 23-47-48 use 14 gauge wire. We recommend using 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot. For a butt connector I recommend using part # 05732-2. These are made for 10 or 12 gauge wire but they can easily be clamped tight enough for 14 gauge wire.

  • Recommended Wiring Harness for Rewiring a 26 Foot Gooseneck Stock Trailer
It sounds like you are wanting to rewire your gooseneck trailer with a 7-way connector. To do this I recommend the 7-way connector # H20046, the bonded 16 gauge 4 wire per foot # 16-4B-1 for the trailer and the 10 gauge jacketed wire # 10-2-1 for the brakes and ground. Often times, people will run the wires from a 7-way such as yours to a junction box like part # 38656. From there, they will run the standard wire colors to the trailer lights, brakes and battery. • Recommended Circuit Breaker and Wire Gauge for Wiring 7-way Trailer Connector
For a circuit breaker, I recommend using a 40 amp circuit breaker, like the Pollak 40amp In-Line Circuit Breaker # 9510. The wire that runs to the battery will connect to the gold post, and the line that connects to the junction box will connect to the silver post. Usually, 10 gauge wire is used for the 12V power. I recommend using # 10-1-1. This 10 gauge wire is sold by the foot. To make connections with this wire, you will want to use 12-10 gauge wire ring terminals # DW05705-1 or 12-10...

  • Butt Connector Recommendation for Wiring up Brake Assemblies on Trailer
The wire gauge used in assemblies like the part # AKEBRK-7R-D is surprisingly thin at 16 gauge. The heavier gauge the wire the better. We recommend 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot), for wiring up the brake output circuit. Since the wire is so long it's important to go with a thicker wire to reduce resistance even though the brake magnets use thinner wire. Especially since the wire gets teed off and ran to multiple brake assemblies. If you went with 10 or 12 gauge...

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller on a 2008 Toyota Tundra with 4-Way Connector
It sounds like your 2008 Toyota Tundra has a factory 4-Way trailer connector. A 4-way only has the basic light functions for a trailer. If the trailer also only has a 4-Way then it also has no wiring to the electric brakes. On the Tundra, to install a functioning 7-Way and brake controller you will actually need to use 4 to 7-Way adapter # 37185. Your factory 4-Way will plug into the back of this unit. You will then need to hardwire the remaining wires. The white wire needs to be grounded...

Then for a 7-way trailer plug, you can use the Hopkins # H20046. This connector has an 8 foot lead. The shorter 6 foot # H20044 or 4 foot # H20043 trailer connectors are also available. • How to Wire a New 4-Way to a Sea Doo Trailer that Has Double Wires
Sounds like you need to redo the wiring of the new 4-way completely.
