In order to attach the Command Electronics Dual LED Trailer Tail Light - Stop, Turn, Tail, Backup - Red and Clear Lens # CE86FR to an aluminum surface you will want to use either a stainless steel, aluminum, or zinc plated screw like part # FA1131822. This is going to ensure that you do not have any corrosion problems at the point of contact between the two metals. As aluminum is a rather soft metal, you should not have any issues using self-tapping screws. I also highly recommend you use our heat shrink butt connectors, part # DW05744-5 to ensure the wiring connections remain shielded from the elements.

The replacement taillight comes complete with a foam pad. The foam pad and the plastic lens have a 3/16" diameter hole. The self-tapping screw you recommend is 1/4" diameter with an approximate 5/8" head. Extremely tacky looking. If you, or the manufacturer cannot supply or recommend a better mount I will have to return the 2 taillights I purchased.

@Rogers I understand where you're coming from, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your input. Connor simply offered hardware that we have available, it’s functional, even if it’s not the most visually appealing option. Typically, people reuse their existing hardware when doing a direct replacement. As for alternatives, we don’t have anything else that would be a noticeably better match for that light. If appearance is your priority (which it would be mine), your best bet would be to visit a local hardware store where you can take your time finding something more to your taste. Please let me know if you would like a return label sent to you.

@KateF Thank you for reply. Hopefully the existing 26-year-old screws are not rusted beyond reuse.

@Rogers If they are, you can probably match them at the hardware store. It would be more cost effective than ordering a couple screws from us.
