In your previous answer you mentioned replacing entire cable will I need to do that or can I splice the cable back together? Also is there the possibility of damage to the trailer or truck electrical system when the cable was pinched between the truck and hitch?

By damaged power cable, I assume you are referring to your trailer's 7-way being severed, and while there likely isn't going to be any electrical damage, you will need to replace the 7-way connector from the trailer. You didn't specify what was severed, but this is the most obvious culprit based on how they connect.
For that you would be able to splice in a new connector, depending on the length you need:
- 4 feet: 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector # H20043
- 6 feet: Mighty Cord 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector # A10-7W6
- 8 feet: Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Connector # H20046
You will need Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05745-5 (12-10 gauge) and # DW05744-5 (16-14 gauge) as well. I've added links to video reviews for you to take a look at.
