The 5-Pole Flat Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM37908 uses 16 gauge wire.

Happy to help, and with the Curt 5-Pole Flat Vehicle Wiring Harness with Mounting Bracket # C58545 I recommend the Hopkins Endurance 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM47910 because of its easy-pull grip which makes it simple to connect and disconnect. Like the Curt harness, this uses 16 gauge wire, and the wires are 18 inches long. I have added a link to a video install of this connector for you to take a look at. The Curt harness comes with quick splices, so to connect the trailer side connector you can use either the Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 16-14 Gauge - Qty 5 # DW05744-5 or the Self-Stripping Connector with Waterproof Sealant - 14-18 Gauge - Qty 1 # SWC501746-1. I also highly recommend using Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors # 11755 to help prevent any type of corrosion in your connector; using it will increase your 5-way's durability and extend its lifespan.
