Having a propane or carbon monoxide gas leak in your RV is a scary situation that you don't want to even think about let alone experience. But this detector will give you peace of mind knowing that if there are dangerous levels of either, it'll quickly and accurately warn you and your family so you can get out of the RV and into fresh air.

Hard-to-Miss Visual and Audible Cues

When carbon monoxide is detected, the red LED will flash, and the horn will blare 4 times. When propane gas only or both propane and CO are detected, the red LED will come on, and the horn will be constant. And because the sensors are highly selective, they're designed to only sound the alarm for lethal gases, reducing the number of false alarms that occur in non-threatening scenarios.

It'll also alert you when the battery is low or when the detector has reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced, so you never have to be without protection.

Easy to Test and Silence

RV Safe Propane and CO Detector

To double check that the detector is operating normally, you can easily use the button on the front to test the propane sensor, carbon monoxide sensor, and battery voltage. You should test your detector every time it's taken out of storage and before it's taken out for each camping trip. This button also lets you silence the horn up to 5 minutes during non-life-threatening situations. So, you can turn off that annoying racket in the middle of the night while you're trying to hunt for a new battery.

Surface-Mount, Bolt-On Installation

RV Safe Detector Installed

The 2 included universal mounting brackets allow this detector to replace 90 percent of all OEM surface-mount and flush-mount detectors. This detector can replace most Atwood and Dometic branded detectors, as well as Safe-T-Alert 20 series, 25 series, 30 series, 35 series, 40 series, 45 series, and 65 series detectors.

Because propane gas is heavier than air, it'll settle near the floor, so this detector should be installed 4" to 18" from the floor to accurately detect the presence of gas. Also make sure that the detector is located in an area that isn't near a window or door, behind furniture or drapes, or in a closet. It also shouldn't be installed with 24" near a stove, oven, fridge, or furnace.

The RV Safe propane gas and carbon monoxide detector was a perfect replacement for another model that came with our RV. The trim back plate covered holes that were there nicely. Easy to install, two wires connected to existing 12V wiring with wire nuts, 4 screws and done. It tested out perfectly. So far there have been no false alarms (big plus). Packaging and delivery was perfect.

After 1 year, still working perfectly and still no false alarms.

by:

Prompt delivery. Easy insstall. Perhaps you should include wire nuts to make connection? Also the black units should ship with black screw heads...just a cosmetic thing.

It has been on the job 247365 Great product and does what it claims to do.

by:

The RV propane gas and carbon monoxide detector, hooks right up inplace of the factory one. Perfect fit

by:

Exact replacement with trim ring if needed. We bought a used Class A with only 11,000 mile but the first night out the alarm went off, at 1:00AM of course! Not sure why it needed replacing as it was only 2 years old.

by:

This was exactly what I needed and super easy to replace the unit that came with our trailer. Screw-holes lined up and everything!

by:

Bought because replacement of original was not available. Great product fit existing opening perfectly. The screw holes in the wall even lined up.Simple install.

by:

This replacement for the old Atwood in my Living Quarters horse trailer was easy to install and the instructions were very helpful. I like the slim design compared to the old block style Atwood. It was also nice that the detector came with two different sizes of mounting plates.

by:

Very compact unit with great filler plates to cover existing holes . Extremely pleased with the product and versatility.
Price is very good considering it is a dual monitor.

by:

Installed and operational. Easy fit and the adapter plate worked to cover the larger hole from the older model that was removed.

by:

Replaced existing detector in 2017.5 Lance 2285. Not the same as the original, but looks great. Had to drill pilot holes for screws as the cover plate on this one did not line up with existing holes. No issues. Easy install.

by:

Perfect fit We are updating a 1997 Monaco & this covered the old space perfectly. So nice to have both cover options.

by:

Perfect replacement for the Safe-T-Alert which came with my 2019 motorhome. I ordered this item specifically since a Safe-T-Alert detector the same size was not readily available.

by:

We installed the new propane gas & carbon monoxide detector last summer. It works great!
Easy to install (our old one quite working) & makes camping in our slide in truck lift top camper safe and secure.
Recommend this product and company

by:

Fit and covered the opening from the older/larger one. ETrailer has a competitive price… I just think they are an overpriced product in general

  • Recommended Replacement For An Atwood Propane Gas Detector 31013
Hi Brenda, The Atwood 31013 unfortunately has been discontinued so you'd need to go with a completely new LP gas detector. We have a couple of surface mount style detectors that come with trim rings that will cover the old unit's cutout hole so you won't have any ugly gaps to try and fill. They can come with either just LP detection or with Carbon Monoxide detection as well; and can be purchased in either white or black. • Replacing the Atwood GS961LP
We have the combined RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector, # RS54FR in black or, # RS34FR for white. This is an easy installation, a simple 2 wire hook up. It comes with two options of mounting brackets to accommodate varying cut out dimensions from 5-1/4" to 6". The larger bracket is overall, 7-1/4" long x 3-3/8" wide and the smaller being 5-3/4" long x 4-1/4" wide. Using this option will replace both of the detectors/alarms you currently have.

  • Replacement Options For An Atwood 33636E Propane Gas Detector
Atwood propane detectors have been on and off available since the Atwood brand was bought out and slowly killed off by Dometic so you'd be hard pressed to find one at this point. We currently only offer the RV Safe brand which has either just propane gas detection or models with propane gas and carbon monoxide detection. Each of these come with trim plates that are a surface mount design to cover up any gaps left behind by the old unit. The small trim measures 5-3/4" long x 4-1/4" wide...

We have the: -RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS34FR for white, or the: -RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS54FR for black. • LP Gas And Carbon Monoxide Detector For An Atwood LP DOB 31013 LP Gas Detector
Since the Atwood LP DOB 31013 is no longer available, your best option is to do a full replacement. Both of these carbon monoxide detectors are flush mounted, measure 4-1/4" long, 2-5/8" wide, and 1/2" thick, and when either gas is detected a LED light and a loud horn will sound.

  • Will the GasStop Emergency Propane Shut-Off Valve Stop Fires While Driving
The GasStop Emergency Propane Shut-Off Valve part # GS84FR will absolutely help to prevent fires as it will stop the accelerant to the fire from continuing to burn when a leak is detected. This will be true whether you are moving or stopped. There is also another option for propane leak detection, the RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector part # RS54FR. This won't stop the gas flow like the valve but it will alert you to a leak so you can take action. It's mostly effective when stationary.

  • Can I Use My Tankless Water Heater Over 2000 Feet Elevation.
Yes it can, I have a solution for you. You have two options. First you can call your local gas utility and have them devalue the gas fuel. This will alter the BTU value. Second. You can derate the water heater, you can replace the main burner assembly orifice. This orifice controls the amount of fuel released into the water heaters combustion chamber. Reduce the orifice size and you reduce amount of fuel released. It is a small amount in reduction about 4% every 1000 feet. As a safety...
