TracRac Base Rails

TracRac SR Sliding Rack Base Rails

The TracRac base rails provide the foundation for this unique, customizable system. No-drill, stake-pocket installation yields securely mounted rails that sit atop your factory side rails. Each rail has 2 tracks for maximum adjustability.

TracRac Sliding Rack

Because the rack section at the front of your truck bed mounts to a different T-track than the one in the rear, the sections can be moved so that they are right next to each other. The result is unobstructed access to your truck bed and improved aerodynamics when you are not using the rack.

TracRac offers accessories that are designed to mount in these tracks. Base rail tie-downs (sold separately) give you additional cargo-management options. These rustproof, aluminum tie-downs slide across the rails for optimal placement and are secured in place with the turn of a knob.

TracRac Slotted Crossbars

The sturdy aluminum crossbars on all TracRac truck racks feature integrated slots for mounting and easily adjusting accessories, such as the included load stops. These slots appear on both the top and bottom of the bars for the ultimate in mounting versatility. Like the pieces that mount in the base rails, these accessories also have quick-release knobs that let you loosen and tighten them with a mere twist of a knob so that they can be positioned as needed along the bars.

A built-in trip strip at the front of each crossbar shields the slots from wind, maintaining the aerodynamic quality of the bars and preventing that annoying whistle you often find with slotted bars.

Included Tie-Downs

TracRac Load Stop Accessories

Included with your TracRac SR are 8 tie-down accessories. The 4 load stops are designed to mount in the slots of the crossbars and slide along them for quick, easy adjustment. These bookend-style pieces help to hold ladders and lumber in place on the crossbars. They also have built-in loops for securing tie-down straps.

TracRac ARC Side Cleats

The 4 cleats attach at any of the provided mounting points along the outsides of the upright supports so that you can tie down items that require additional anchoring or that sit in your truck bed.

Sturdy, Rustproof Construction

The TracRac base rails and rack system, as well as most TracRac accessories, are constructed of durable, lightweight aluminum. Because aluminum is lighter than steel - the material most often used for truck racks - only a small percentage of your truck's cargo capacity is taken up by the rack itself, enabling you to pack on more weight than you could with a steel system.

Even though aluminum is already rustproof in itself, TracRac has taken the extra step of adding a dual powder coat finish to further protect your rack. The electrostatic powder coat (e-coat) clings to the metal surface better than traditional paint finishes for a more durable covering. The second coat is a clear finish that adds extra shine and protection from scuffs and scratches.

It was a tight fit with my existing GatorTrax Tonneau Cover but doable. The Bull Ring Pocket Router made cutting of the stake pockets a breeze.

Fit perfectly. Was a little concerned that it wouldn't work with my bed cover. But it does and couldn't be happier.

Very high quality product with excellent customer service. Highly recommend Thule and etrailer!

This Thule Trac Rac with my BAK X4 Revolver is the perfect combo for my needs.
The rack was an easy install on my 2020 F150, solid, quality and finish is premium.
Karen at etrailer went the extra mile,
I am traveling, she made calls and found a location for delivery near my location and took care of every detail. The Rack was shipped the next day and on my truck 6 days later. Another great purchasing experience with etrailer.

We've been really happy with the Thule Sliding TracRac, and have made some unusual modifications. We wanted to mount it outside/around a camper shell, so we needed to mount the rails outboard of the truck bed (aluminum "shelves") and figure out how to make the crossbars longer (bought a third crossbar and connected extension sections by making three-holed t-slots nuts and using round aluminum tubes). None of this sanctioned by etrailer or Thule, of course. See photos, which also show an adaptor I made to mount a Thule square bar above the TracRac crossbar to use existing Thule accessories.

Past 20 years I've used Rack-It truck racks. They're solid steel, eventually rust and took two grown men (and an extra set of nuts) to remove them from the truck. Great racks. Just way more than what I need the older I get.
However I wanted something that could easily be removed (by myself), if needed, and was aluminum. I bought these, as well as the extension cantilever, and it serves my needs as a general contractor. It supports my 24' walk plank just fine. The only thing I have to be creative to transport is full length rebar. If I transported rebar all the time, this rack would not be my first choice.
At the time of my purchase, there was not a specific rack for my GMC AT4. So I simply measured the bed of the truck, bought one with a similar measurement, and modified the drilling holes to work.
Lastly, I didn't want a silver color rack on my black truck. While you could get the racks in black. You could not purchase a black cantilever. So I simply had all the pieces powder coated black.
Honestly, I get a lot of compliments on it. Because no one else has one like it.
I'm very happy with it. It's perfect for the occasional ladder, walk plank, or 16' piece of lumber. I've had it mounted for over a year now, with zero problems! I remove it weekly to go through the car wash, and throw it back on in 5 min or less when i get home.

Rack is decent as expected from Thule, but the service from etrailer was subpar. I had some questions about installation and included parts that could not be answered by the customer service rep I spoke with, all she could do was speak from her script and eventually referred me to Thule about the missing parts. I kinda thought that would be her job, but I ended up calling Thule and they were helpful as usual. I have alway had good service from etrailer, so hopefully this was just an isolated incident.

DO NOT TRUST THE ADVICE GIVEN BY THE SO-CALLED EXPERTS AT ETRAILER. This rack WILL NOT fit the Carbon Pro Bed...I was told by 2 different "experts" that this rack would fit my 2023 Sierra w/the Carbon Pro Bed, since this rack mounted to the stakebed pockets and not to the underside of the bedrail. After receiving my order, I prepared to install the rails and cutout the front stakebed pocket covers which is required to do the install (also indicated by Kevin C. from ETrailer). As soon as I got to step 3 of the rail install instructions, I knew there was a problem. The instructions indicated there was a hole on the inside of the bed to secure the rear stakebed pocket adapter to. There is no hole or any other type of access to any of the stakebed pockets on the Carbon Pro Bed. So, now I have altered bedrails and have a rack that does not fit. It is completely irresponsible of the "experts" at Etrailer to provide information or direction that is not true or hasn't been confirmed.

Shipping was a disaster, one box came right away white the second box went all over the us before showing up. But once it did the ladder rack was built incorrectly at the manufacturer and can’t be put together

by:

The rack it self has been useful. As for the quality of the product my fears of the powder coating starting to bubble and flake has happened and isn't stopping. This started about month four of owning the Thule product. There are no scratches just corrosion under the powder coat and the cause of the flaking finish. It hauls well no doubt. If you are looking for it to hold up to the elements and look tasteful mine has not. Honestly I had expected the finish to let go but not so soon. powder coating aluminum and doing it correctly is hard to do. I would order a cheaper option next time as price did not dictate quality with this product. The rack is used to carry a kayak. It has done that very well.

by:

Couldn't be happier with the Rack, it went together and operates flawlessly. Dealing with e trailer was a snap, I was informed all the way through the buying process of shipping and arrival dates. Will absolutely buy shop again with e trailer.

by:

Very happy with the rack on my 2018 Silverado. I also have the Back flip hard top bed cover. I am able to open all but the very last position. I might still be able to adjust the rails and to get there but it hasn't been an issue. Used it to haul lumber and I made a bicycle rack that works with the racks and the bed cover down. Works great. Was not hard to install.

by:

Just installed this last night sobs true rating is hard to do. With that said it is definitely good quality very tight with no wobble! Hope it works like I want with removal for trips and going through the car wash. Keeps the truck looking pretty sharp compared to the traditional ladder racks!!

by:

etrailer.com is an outstanding company. I purchased a Thule system in January. Due to logistics (my fault) I tried to install the system in April. Three of the attachment arms were incorrect. I contacted Ashley of etrailer, the sales representative who sold me the system, who patiently listened and after receiving the needed photos and explanation, etrailer sent me a replacement system. The new system was installed and the truck is ready to go. Ashley's professionalism, communication skills, product knowledge were excellent. Ashley and etrailers' commitment to solving my issue expeditiously puts etrailer in a class by itself.

by:

Very heavy duty ladder rack that does not "whistle" while you drive down the road. Easy install overall, and it is very easy to install and remove the racks as needed after the original install. At the time of purchase this was not available for my vehicle with a short 5.5' bed, but with very minor fabrication the rails for longer beds fit perfectly. I have recommended this rack to several people since purchased a year ago.

by:

Great product, light weight , well built.
Customer
service is very responsive.
have a Ford lighting so wanted a light truck rack.
easily removal to save on range/ milage.Made in the USA.

by:

Great product! Packaging could be better for the larger pieces (rub marks). My 2018 Ram 1500 quad cab came with some small challenges that I had to solve myself. No videos or written words available. Basically if your bed rails are covered with a bed liner you need to remove the plastic sleeve in the rear stake pockets. Otherwise you won’t get an equal spacing from one rail to the other. You will also need to use the provided rubber tape with the wedges in order to make the rails level. Otherwise it went together great.

I did install the Thule TracRac SR. I did it on my own and it went well.
I'm really pleased with it.

As for the photo, I will send you one, once I've washed my truck.
Can't make a photo with a dirty truck.

I will leave feedback later after some time with the rack.

  • What Tonneau Cover Is Compatible With The Thule TracRac TracONE Ladder Rack
Hey Chris, Because the Thule TracRac TracONE Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH27000XTB clamps to the lip of the bedrails it won't be compatible with any tonneau cover. You would need Thule's stake pocket mounted version the TracRac SR # TH43002XT-508 (5.5' bed), # TH43002XT-501 (6.5' bed), # TH43002XT-000 (8' bed). The Ford tonneau you mentioned sits on top of the bed rails so there isn't a ladder rack that's going to fit with it. To use the TracRac SR # TH43002XT-508 you would need to use a similar cover that installs between the bedrails like the # TX597701.

I looked up pictures of Tyger roll up tonneau covers and it looks like they allow easy access to the stake pocket holes in the top of the bed rails. So based on that the TracRac Ladder Rack part # TH43002XT-508 will fit your 2005 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 foot bed. Since I am not totally sure which cover you have though you will need to make sure the cover does not go over the top of the bed rails. As long as the stake pockets are accessible this rack will fit.

  • Ladder Rack and Tonneau Cover Compatible with 2020 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
We have exactly what you're looking for! I'll start off with the tonneau cover, since finding a tonneau cover that is compatible with a ladder rack is oftentimes a rather difficult proposition. I recommend using the BAK Revolver X2 tonneau cover # BAK39329 since it mounts inside the bed rails and won't interfere with a ladder rack that mounts on the bed rails. This tonneau is a roll-up cover with aluminum backing, which provides you with the vinyl feel of a soft tonneau that has aluminum...

For your 2022 Ford F-150 with a 5.5 foot bed the correct Thule TracRac SR ladder rack is the part # TH43002XT-508 and then for the correct tonneau cover you'd want the Revolver part # BAK56ZR as this is only option that rolls up narrow enough to fit between the base rails of the TracRac SR.

This adapts the hardware of the box to attach to the channels that are on top of the load bars instead of trying to wrap all the way around them.

This is because the BAKFlip MX4 leaves the stake pockets completely open for the TracRac SR to install.
