The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Today, we're going to be taking a look at Part #11212707P. This is the Optronics GloLight Millennium Series 4" sealed LED marker and clearance light. This does have a sealed waterproof design. The lens and the housing are made from a durable polycarbonate material. That's going to have the plastic chrome bezel. It's going to give a nice, clean, finished look to the light. It does have the two-wire design with the 0.180 male bullets.
Allows for easy connection. If you don't want to use those, you could just cut them and then expose, or strip back, some wire. This is a P2 rated light. It's SAE and Department of Transportation compliant. The light's going to draw 0.06 amps at 12.8 volts. We're going to go over some measurements real quick, starting with the overall length.
That's going to give us a measurement . about 4 1/4". The overall width, that's going to measure about 1 1/2", and then the thickness, or depth, that's going to measure about 3/4". Your mounting holes are back here. Your mounting hardware is not included, so that does need to be provided separately.
Those mounting holes are going to be separated on center by 3 1/8". The light does have a multi-diode design, so that means that it contains multiple diodes, or multiple LEDs to really optimize your light output. The LEDs are going to be great replacements for incandescent lights. They're going to burn brighter, last longer, and they're much more efficient. With LEDs, you don't have to worry about replacing the bulbs, and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. What we're going to do is we're going to go and hook it up to our external power source. That way, you can see what it looks like with power into it.
We'll also be able to turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a low light setting. Here, you can see the light sends out that nice consistent signal. We've got that smooth band of outer LEDs. Gives the light a really nice look. It's going to be a red light, clear lens, so it allows plenty of that light to come through. Again, this light's going to function as your marker or clearance light. That's going to do it for today's look at Part #11212707P from Optronics.
