Trailer Hub Grease Seal

by:

This seal fit my particular axel, and was an easy installation. A caution: There are two different I.d.s required for 7K axles. One is 2.125" I.D. the other is 2.250" ID. I had to measure the axel then place my order, but I'm sure there is a way to determine prior to disassembly when ordering using serial #.

@Paul We're glad to hear that!

by:

Punched in part number. Came rite up and got them 2 days earlier than they said. Thank you . This is why I enjoy using Etrailer for my camper and race car trailers

Prompt delivery of my order. Exactly the correct part. After repacking the bearings, 5th was pulled, 4000 miles last year. Thanks for your service.

The Seal Fit perfectly in my ’69 Dexter Axle Mobile Home Hub

Scott S.

7/28/2020

The bearings I purchased for my 1969 mobile home axle that I use on my log slitter are working flawlessly.

by:

Fit and work as expected.

by:

Great customer service. Shipping was qu ick.

by:

Perfect fit. Easy to install, I recommend buying extras just incase in gets tweaked or bent during installation or removal. My seal removal tool bent the seal up too bad to use again.

by:

Proof is in the pudding, but I don't see any reason why these seals should not work well.

by:

It took 12 days from order date to delivery day. Same thing with trailer lights before. I bitched and they said I should have had it shipped a quicker way. How about sending it faster instead of blaming usps. Never again waiting for the junk.

by:

Perfect fit and rolling with my fifth w heel

by:

always great service.

by:

the install was easy and they are holding up just fine. Not used many times but so far all is good.

by:

The parts were all the right ones and most were Dexter oem parts. The only problem I had was putting the bolts in the frame end of the spring perch. It was easier to take the spring loose from the axle, put the bolt in ,then bolt it back to the axle. I intend to buy all of my future trailer parts from etrailer.

by:

Great service!

I have nothing but good things to say about the seals, and working with etrailer. George is one of the few folks in this business who reaches out to make sure customers are satisfied. The seals were exactly what I ordered, arrived as promised, and are good quality seals.

I have owned boats for 35 years, and trailer to the river to boat, and have now owned 5 different boat/trailer sets. In that time, I have never found a wheel seal that actually prevents water from getting in. I have every type of bearing buddy, have packed marine grease in against the bearing buddy springs...nothing works. So, being able to get these seals supports my yearly ritual of popping the wheels off every year, cleaning everything up, replacing bearings as needed, and off we go. It is the price of boating, and prevents being the guy along the freeway with the family in the car and smoke rolling out of the wheel.

Thanks, George, for being a connected and caring dealer. You are the last of a dying breed. You have won my business for life.

Seals are working as expected ... they dont keep the water out, but Ive never met a seal that did :-. The double lip does slow the flow down a bit. Good seals, good price.

by:

I've got about 12,000 miles on my new Rockwood Windjammer 3029, so it's time to remove, inspect, clean and repack my wheel bearings. This requires new rear seals, so I ordered them thru etrailer. Package came in sooner than expected, and was in good shape. The rear grease seals look identical to the "Dexter" stamped seals that came on the trailer, except for the Dexter name and logo. They installed just as expected, and now I'm ready for the next 12,000 miles.

after one year, seals are still performing as expected, no problems.

by:

I have several trips since installation and have had no problems.etrailer sent correct parts in reasonable time. Good service.

by:

Diana did a great job helping me cross reference the seal number I had. The 4 seals arrived within a day (helps that I live in Missouri). We will see how they hold up in my 5th wheel travel trailer!!

Thanks

by:

Perfect match love etrailer knowing they have parts for my camper and delivery is fast will continue to order from them.

by:

Product arrived in record time, and it’s just what I needed.

by:

Always like ordering from etrailer they seem to always have what I need when needed. Quick delivery with no complaints.

by:

Good product

by:

I have a boat trailer that requires wheel bearings and seals periodically. It is 20 years old but I easily found replacements at etrailer.com. I bookmarked the parts so I can get them easily next time. Noticed that the original bearings were made in England, the recent ones are made in China and are of equivalent excellent quality. Delivery was prompt, packing very good.
Good retailer.

  • Most Common Bearing Kit for 6K Trailer Axle
The most common bearings on a 6K axle are inner bearing part # 25580 and outer bearing part # 15123, along with either grease seal # GS-2250DL (2.250-inches inside diameter) or # GS-2125DL (2.125-inches inside diameter). Please refer to the linked article for more on trailer bearings and kits. We have bearing kits with these parts combinations. Kit # BK3-100 has the larger seal and kit # BK3-110 has the smaller seal. Kit # BK3-200 that you referenced is typically used for 7K axles and...

  • Hub and Drum Assembly with Inner Bearing 1.75 ID and Outer Bearing 1.25 ID
Thank you for providing the inner diameter of the two bearings; that is especially helpful when trying to determine which replacement parts are going to work. Even though we can confirm the bearings are a fit, you'll also want to make sure that the grease seals on any hub/drum assembly, as well as the races are a match for your. I'll also take this opportunity that while mobile home axles are cheap and readily available, they're really only designed to be used the one time and then discarded;...

  • Can Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit for 7k Axle Fit 7k Trailer Axle
6k and 7k trailer axles are almost all the exact same so if you have a Dexter 6k axle the spindle of it would be compatible with the # HSE7K-T1 that you mentioned but you'd want to make sure the seal surface of the spindle is 2.250 inch and not 2.125 inch as that's sometimes an issue. But even then the worst case scenario is you'd just need to swap seals with part # GS-2125DL and you'd be set.

  • Should It Take a 14oz Cartridge To Fill Trailer Hub
I honestly don't see how it's physically possible to pump a whole 14oz tube of grease into a single hub, especially when your trailer is only a year or two old. Grease seals are notorious for blowing out the back of the hub which is why the EZ Lube spindle setup is nice but dangerous. I definitely recommend pulling your hub to check on the seals. If the seals blew (most likely) you're going to have grease on your brakes which will be rendered useless until you get it all cleared off and...

The two most common grease seal options for a 5,200 lb axle are part # GS-2125DL and part # GS-2250DL. The two seals have the same O.D. but different I.D. The former is 2.125" and the latter is 2.250". You'll need to measure to determine the correct fit.

  • What Grease Seal is Needed for Trailer Hub with Bearing Numbers LM67048 25580
For that bearing combination there are two grease seal options that are possible. For whatever reason the 5.2k to 7k axles kind of randomly either will have a 2.125 inch inner grease seal requirement like the part # GS-2125DL or 2.225 inch like the part # 10-36. There is no way to know for sure what you have without measuring so you would need to measure the outer diameter of your spindle where the seal rides to know.

  • Does Spindle Get Lubricated With Grease When Installing Grease Seal
Yes, when installing Grease Seal # GS-2125DL you do want to put some grease on the spindle to help the seal slide on. If you go to about the 1:35 mark of the linked video, you can see our installer doing exactly this. For this I recommend the LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease # L11390; a compatible grease gun is the LubriMatic Standard-Duty, Lever Action Grease Gun # L30200.

If it's 2.125 this is the seal or if it's 2.25 you'd need # GS-2250DL. If for some reason it's not one of those two diameters let me know and I'll see what we have that would fit.
