  • Could CE Smith Trailer Axle Have New Holes Drilled at 40 inches Apart
Hey Gary, so the holes that are on the CE Smith trailer axle part # CES84XR are currently at 38-1/2 inch on center so there would easily be enough room to put new ones at just 3/4 of an inch past where they are now but you would need to rotate the axle 90 degrees.

  • Looking For New Axle, Hubs And Leaf Springs For A Northeast Brand Trailer
Hey Nate, I can definitely help and point you in the right direction. For the axle, I will need to know the weight capacity, hub face (HF) length and spring center (SC) length. There should be a tag or sticker on the axle that has this info, unless it is a really old axle in which case you will have to measure. For the hubs, knowing what axle you are going with will determine the correct hubs. I just need to know your hub bolt pattern so we can be sure the hubs will work with your wheels....

The CE Smith Trailer Axle Beam with Studded Hubs # CES84XR will fit your 1988 NuWay trailer if your current axle has 49" hub face and 38-1/2" spring center dimensions (see attached photo to compare). The overall beam length is 54". If this doesn't match what you have, please let me know what your axle measurements are and I'd be more than happy to help you find a replacement! I unfortunately don't have a listing of what came on your trailer so I don't have a way to verify this...

  • Options For Adding Regular 5 On 4-1/2" Hubs To A 1950s Boat Trailer
Hey Troy, thanks for reaching out. We actually get this question fairly frequently since a lot of older trailers used "shorter" hubs compared to the current standard. I am sorry to say that we do not offer any hubs to fit this type of shorter spindle and the parts you are looking for are obsolete. Your best options here will be to replace your spindles with new ones, or to replace the axle entirely. That way you will have no trouble fitting the standard 5 lug hubs. Adding new spindles...
