  • Replacement Leaf Springs For An Ice Shanty Trailer
Hey Adam, 24-5/8" is a standard sizing for 2,000lb leaf springs so the 4-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles - 24-5/8" Long # e69SR is what you need. It unfortunately doesn't look like we offer a slipper spring in a higher capacity in a close enough length. You could weld on new hangers # APS4 to switch to double-eye leaf springs like the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,500-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/8" Long # e66SR for a bit more capacity to prevent the tires from...

  • Recommended Parts for Rebuild/Upgrade of Harbor Freight Trailer
The Dexter Trailer Idler Axle w/ Hubs - EZ-Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 60" Long - 2,200 lbs # 20545I-EZ-60-15 is a great starting point to upgrade your trailer. This will give you a standard size axle with good bearings, hubs, and EZ-lube spindles. This is far nicer than the weird sized stuff that comes on Harbor Freight trailers. The Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # AM31994 will be a great addition to these hubs and...

  • How to Determine if Slipper Spring SP-177275 Will Fit Trailer
I can tell you how to determine if the 2-Leaf Slipper Spring for 1,000-lb Trailer Axles # SP-177275 will fit your trailer, though we do not have information regarding fits for individual trailers. The best way to determine if a slipper spring will fit is by measuring the length from the center of the spring eye to the end end of the spring, as you can see in the accompanying diagram. The best way to get an accurate length of a leaf spring is with the trailer up on jacks with the axle...

  • Installing Leaf Springs on Single Axle Trailer
For a single axle trailer, you want the shackle strap to be able to move so that you have the spring deflection needed for your suspension. Angled like the photo or even almost vertical is fine you just don't want the shackle strap to bind and have issue as you go over bumps. If it is completely vertical or angled back toward the axle, then your leaf spring is not long enough and your suspension components will not move as intended giving you a rough ride at best and at worst failure...

  • Converting 3,500 lb Torsion Axle to Spring Leaf Axle on Boat Trailer
Hey Sam; thanks for the question and yes it is possible to go from a 3,500 lb torsion axle to a spring leaf axle on your boat trailer. You'll need to have new hangers welded on, as well as get leaf springs and, of course, the axle itself. For the hanger kit you can go with the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs - 3-1/4" Front, 1-1/4" Rear # APS4 which gives you 5 inches of distance between the center of the axle and the trailer frame. For 3,500 lb leaf springs you can...

  • How to Raise the Height of a Boat Trailer to Avoid Scraping on Inclines
What I recommend, if the trailer has round axles, is an over-under conversion kit. For 3 inch round axles use # K71-385-00 and for 2-3/8 inch round axles use # K71-384-00. This of course will only work if the leaf springs are mounted to the bottom of the trailer now. What this kit does is allow you to put the springs on top of he axle without flipping the axle or welding. Otherwise what you could do is use taller hangers. All of the hangers would have to be raised the same amount. So if...

  • Replacement Trailer Axle for a 5x10 Utility Trailer
Unfortunately, we do not have any hubs that match the dimensions you provided. The only other option I have for you at this time would be to replace the axle. If you can provide me with the hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center measurement, I can go about trying to find a replacement axle for you.

  • Hanger Kit Recommendation for Dexter 3.5K 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring
Hey Dennis, thanks for reaching out! The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # DX23CR has a 3" drop from center eye to middle of the leaf spring (see attached photo). For a single axle setup I recommend the Hanger Kit # APS4, and for a tandem axle setup I recommend the Hanger Kit # APT5. Since the U-Bolt kit sits on either side of the leaf spring, the space between them will be 1-3/4" - the same as your leaf spring width. It might straddle your trailer frame, but you really want more clearance...

  • Hanger Kit to Install Leaf Spring on Trailer that Has Slipper Springs
You could pretty easily install the springs you have but you will need to use a single axle trailer hanger kit like part # APS4 as the bushing sizes and hangers you have now won't work with the spring you have part # SP-113275.

  • Replacement Hub that Has Bearings L44649 and Bolt Pattern 5 on 4-1/2 inch
The trailer hub part # 8-258-5UC1 that you referenced is an exact fit for the spindle you have on your trailer based on the bearing numbers you listed and the wheel bolt pattern. To jump up to a 3,500 lb axle would require more info from you. I'd need spring seat center to spring seat center plus hub face to hub face off your old axles. You have slipper springs which we can help with that as well. How long are the springs you have now?

  • Looking For Axle Leaf Springs For A Small Single Axle Trailer
Hello Zane, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, we do not carry any leaf springs that are this long. The longest spring we have is 30-1/2" long, and these are rated for much larger axles than yours. For a small single axle trailer, most of our springs will be between 20" and 26" long. For example the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles - 26" Long # e77SR is a common option for small single axle trailers. It may be difficult to find a direct replacement for your spring....

  • Switching From Slipper Springs to Double-Eye Springs on 4 x 6 Trailer
To replace your slipper springs with double-eye leaf springs you first want to take a quick measurement of the existing leaf spring stack. Measure from the center of the eye to the end of the spring to make sure the new double-eye assembly has a similar length. Also be sure that the new springs have the capacity needed to support the loaded weight of your trailer. Hey Jay, so the CE Smith Trailer Axle # CES84XR is a 1.8k axle so for leaf springs the part # e77SR would work great as this is for a 2k trailer axle. Then for a u-bolt kit you'd want the part # CE23102. For a hanger kit part # APS4. Is this an a-frame trailer or a pole tongue? Boat trailer so the lights need to be submersible? • Can I Use a 2" Hanger for a 1-3/4" Wide Leaf Spring
You want to make sure the hangers on your trailer have the same width as your leaf spring so if your leaf spring is 1-3/4" wide then you don't want to use a 2" or 2-1/2" wide hanger. It's true that you want the hanger bolts installed somewhat loosely so you leaf spring isn't binding, but you definitely don't want that much side to side play for your leaf springs inside your hangers. You either need to use wider leaf springs or you need to use smaller hangers like what you see with the...

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement Slipper Springs
In order to find the correct replacement slipper spring you will need the length, width, and the capacity. The leaf count does not indicate capacity and is not important when determining a replacement. This information would also make a difference in the mounting hardware. For example, the 4-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Open Eye End # e24SR is 27" long, 1-3/4" wide, and designed for 4,300 lb axles. Assuming a single axle, you could use the # APS3SE and # APUBR-1 (this is for a 2-3/8" diameter...

  • How To Convert Trailer With Slipper Springs To Double Eye Springs

Since you mentioned that you don't think the trailer has a very high axle rating this would not be a good option as if it is over rated it would cause a very harsh ride.
