Features to know about

Stronger, Smoother Tracking: 72" Round Axle with Zero-Camber Bend

A wobbly or uneven ride is usually a sign of a bent or under-spec axle. This 72" round axle beam is built from high-strength steel and designed with a precise bend that keeps tire contact flat across the tread. That zero-camber shape gives steady, in-line tracking and smooth straight-line acceleration. Rated for 2,000 lbs, it delivers solid, predictable handling mile after mile.

Ready to Roll Fast: Pre-Greased Idler Hubs with Bearings and Seals

There’s no need to pack bearings or hunt for parts before putting it to work. The cast iron idler hubs come pre-greased and assembled with bearings, races, seals, and lug nuts. The 4 on 4" bolt pattern fits wheels from 8" to 14". With 1/2" x 1-5/16" wheel studs and a 1.988" grease cap flange, everything is set up for a clean, quick install.

Built-In Strength Where It Counts: Welded Spindles and Spring Seats

Loose or misaligned hardware can ruin a suspension setup. The spindles and spring seats on this axle are welded in place using a patented process that makes the joints 40% stronger. The 58" spring-center spacing comes set from the factory, or you can cut and re-weld new spring seats if your layout calls for a custom width.

Low, Easy Loading: Underslung Leaf Spring Design

When every inch of deck height matters, this underslung design keeps the trailer lower to the ground. The leaf springs (sold separately) mount beneath the axle for a low ride height that makes loading and unloading easier while maintaining a stable stance.

Simple Upkeep: Easy Grease Spindles with Built-In Zerks

Lubrication is straightforward with straight, Easy Grease spindles. Each spindle includes a built-in grease zerk that lets you service bearings quickly without pulling the hub apart. It’s a small detail that saves time and keeps the bearings running smooth for the long haul.

Will install tomorrow then able to write a review

I bought this axle and hubs to replace my broken and worn axle that was left on the side of the road. I had tried a quick fix, but the axle from a local store was too narrow. I found this trailer axle and hub kit and it was the correct assembly to fit my trailer. I was able to replace the worn-out axle and hubs. The new trailer axle and hubs handle my load of the trailer with two Jet Skis, along with a toolbox and extra gas cans. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. A year later I just came home from another trip with the trailer and everything is working great. I had a fabrication shop weld the spring mounts on the trailer axle when I replaced it and it tracks straight down the road. Not bad from a 75-year-old retired guy.

Great salesman quick shipping will purchase from again.

by:

Good price. Fast shipping. Exactly what I ordered. Already mounted to the trailer. Will be a repeat buyer.

by:

Looks to be a well made product but I was disappointed to see it was not US made.. I went with this axel because it is far superior to any I could find for small farm trailer use.. The hubs I got and measured are roughly 2-1/2 inches or 63mm and I could not find this in the specs.. My rims will fit but won't be hub-centric so they will be centered and ride on the lug nuts alone.. I am cutting a foot out of the center of the axle then splicing it together to narrow it for my application so no warranty for me.. This axle and pair of hubs with real bearing should last a very long time on the farm hauling dirt, mulch, stones, firewood..

by:

Easy to install and get my trailer back on the road. Delivery was a day or two later than expected but was still pretty fast.

by:

Had to return. Did not match up with old axel. Called customer service and to order special setup for older boat axel. Waiting on new order which I’ll have to weld kit on axel to match old set up. Thanks to customer service.

by:

With the info provided it was very easy to identify the correct axle for my trailer. Ordering was easy and quick. Delivery was as quoted.

by:

Delivery extremely quick. Very helpful custservice. Only thing….the axle and hub combo did NOT include new castle nuts, washer or new cotter pin.

by:

An excellent choice for my kayak trailer project. 2000# rated and a great match for the other components, springs, hangers and spring mounts.

  • Solution for Replacement Hub For 2k Axle With LM48548 Inner Bearing
The 1.375" measurement corresponds with the # LM48548. The closest thing to 1.255 I'm aware of is the # LM67048 which measures 1.250" for the inner diameter. One way or another, bearing combinations using the # LM48548 are obsolete so we do not have a hub that will fit. The best solution is to replace the axle with one that uses a modern bearing combination. To find a replacement axle you will need the hub face to hub face measurement. I have attached a helpful video below which explains...

  • How to Choose Replacement Axle for Lowe's 5x8 Trailer
I'd be more than happy to help you out! If you can measure the hub-face and spring-center measurements of your current axle that will help me know what you're needing. For example, the etrailer Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs # e65GR has a hub-face measurement of 89" and a spring-center measurement of 74" (see attached).

  • How to Flip a 1-3/4" Diameter Axle So the Springs are Above the Axle
Yes, it can Darin but you'll need some extra parts. The Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs item # e62YR has a bend in it, like all axles, and if you just flip the axle over this will be pointed down causing alignment issues with your tires. You run the risk of wearing your tires out quicker just inverting the axle. What you'll need to do is install two of the Spring Seats item # TRSS175 on the opposite side of the axle at the desired location. This will give you a mounting point to use the...

  • Do You Have a Replacement Axle Rated for 2K with 72" Hub Face and 59 1/2" Spring Center?
Hello Philip, We don’t have an exact match for your specifications. The closest option we carry is the axle you were looking at: Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs - 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern - 72" Long - 2,000 lbs # e62YR. The 72" hub face matches your requirement, but the spring center is 58", not the 59.5" you’re looking for. You could still make it work by welding on new spring seats, such as part # TRSS175. What kind of trailer is this going on?

  • Looking for a 72" Long 58" Spring Center 4 Lug Axle
Happy to help Angelo, thanks for reaching out! The main difference between these two axles is really the manufacturer. Both are 2k lb idler hub axles with the same 72" hub face measurement, 58" spring center measurement and 4 on 4 bolt pattern, so they'll fit and function very similarly. The Dexter axle # 20440I-ST-72 is built by Dexter, which is one of the most well known names in the trailer industry and is often preferred by those who specifically want the Dexter brand. Hey, Matt! We do have an axle that is 72" for the hub face but nothing that is 72.5". All of the axles that are 72" long have a spring center of 58". This is the approximate width of your trailer. It is measured from the center of the spring seat on one side of the axle to the center of the seat on the other. This axle beam comes with the spring seats welded on. etrailer axles part # e78GR is just the axle with no hubs or anything else. If you do need new hubs as well we have part # e37YR...

  • Can Trailer Axle Replacement be 1/4 inch Shorter in Length
Hey Richard, when picking out a replacement axle the most important dimension to match exactly is the spring seat center to spring seat center as that has to match up to the trailer's frame brackets. Going with a 1/4 inch shorter overall length axle like you asked about would not be an issue at all. We do not have a matching axle for your trailer at this time though so you would need to find a local trailer shop to you who can order in custom axles and get them the specs you need.

  • Looking For Way To Add Brakes To 1993 Boat Trailer
Hello Daniel, thanks for reaching out. Adding brake flanges is a potential option, but I am sorry to say we do not offer a brake flange for a 1.5" square axle. You would have to either find a supplier, or have a fab shop make one for you. Keep in mind that brake flanges must be welded on at a precise angle, so typically we recommend having this done by a professional axle shop. Typically, replacing the axle entirely would be much easier and less expensive. We do not offer an axle that...

  • Availability Of Axle To Replace 71" Hub Face 58" Spring Seat 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" 2,000lb Axle
I have an option that will work for you, but we don't sell any 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" square axles. We do have the 2,000lb # e37YR which has a hub face measurement of 72" which will push your wheels out 1/2" on each side which isn't a big deal, and has the same 58" spring seat spacing so it'll fit your frame perfectly. This comes with hubs that have the common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, but it's available with the 4 on 4" bolt pattern also as # e62YR. As this is a 1-3/4" round axle you'll need...

  • Is There A 2,000lb Axle With A 72" Hub Face And 59" Spring Seat Measurement
The axles we carry with a 72" hub face measurement, like Dexter Axle # T20BTR-7258, only come with a 58" spring seat measurement. I recommend double checking your spring seat measurement to see if it really is 59" and not 58" when measuring from center to center. If it really is 59" then you can just have a local fabricator custom make you an axle or just have them cut the spring seats off of the axle and weld them back on with a 59" spacing.

  • How To Choose The Correct Replacement Axle For A Performance Jet Skit Trailer
When choosing the correct replacement axle you will first want to start with the weight capacity. The weight capacity of your axle can be found on the axle tag in the center of the beam. Instead you will either need to replace the spindle with a newer one such as the # TRU97FR which works with idler hubs # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K which have the 4 on 4" bolt pattern you are needing, or replace the entire axle.
