Self-Aligning Design

The convenient self-centering arms on the Acclaim help to make hookup a snap. Standard tow bars have rigid arms that are essentially locked in place so you have to drive your towed vehicle into the exact position necessary for hookup. But with the Acclaim, you can connect from the approximate towing position quickly and easily. Once you have connected the tow bar to both your vehicle's base plates and your RV's coupler, simply drive your RV forward until the tow bar arms fully extend and lock in place. Before hitting the road, be sure to check that the arms are properly latched to avoid damage to the tow bar.

Non-Binding Release Latch

Non-Binding Tow Bar

Blue Ox has defeated the age-old problem of binding by creating a tow bar that is just as easy to release as it is to hook up. Simply press down the locking handles on the tow bar arms until the internal latch disengages. By releasing some of the static pressure from your tow bar you can flex its arms just enough to make disconnecting from the base plates a snap, even when it's out of level with your RV.

Triple-Lug Bracket

Triple-Lug Connection

Blue Ox base plates on your vehicle are equipped with two tabs each that connect to the brackets on the ends of the tow bar arms. These brackets are referred to as "lugs." The unique triple-lug design of the Acclaim tow bar creates a tighter, more stable connection by surrounding both base plate tabs. The result is a sturdy, reinforced connection that is stronger and more rigid for a safer, more dependable towing experience.

Hooking up the Acclaim to your base plates is as simple as it is secure. Just insert the triple-lug end of the tow bar arm into the base plate so that the center lug is positioned between the two tabs of the base plate. Then insert the 1/2" keeper pin through the lugs and tabs and secure it at the end with the included quick pin.

Simple Storage

The Acclaim can be easily stored on your towed vehicle when it is not in use. Simply disconnect the arm on the driver's side from the base plate bracket and swing it over to the other arm so that they are side by side. Secure the arms to one another with the integrated holding pin. Then line up the folded tow bar with the front of your vehicle so that the coupler is positioned next to the driver's-side base plate. Using the 1/2" keeper pin, connect the holding bracket beneath the coupler to the base plate bracket and secure it with the quick pin.

This system works great! Folds up close to the front bumper of the towed vehicle when not needed for towing. A breeze to open/unfold and hook back up to my RV when it's time to move on. Great design. High quality.

- BX4330

Had to do some grinding to stow the hitch.as much as you charge you should add a cover to keep it pretty.Great product would highly recommend and would buy again.Same with the base plate I bought from you earlier.Id give you a 4 7/8 star .very fast free shipping

- BX4330

Arrived on time. Works on my iM Toyota. I like this better than the 2" received models for motorhomes for towing 5000 lbs or less. Much easier and quicker to connect. This hitch folds and stays on the car while traveling. Always pleased with the service from etrailer.com!

- BX4330

I have used this model of Blue Ox hitch for years without problems. This is my third as I sell the old ones with the towed vehicles each time. The speed of delivery and price from etrailer can't be beat. Great service. Great price. Thank you.

- BX4330

Good value for the price. But, bear in mind this is a bare bones tow bar.

- BX4330

Just received the hitch, I was expecting to have some assembly required, but it was already to mount onto my Jeep and stow. Great looking product and competitively priced. Troy H. was very helpful during the ordering process, it made me feel comfortable that I was buying the correct style for my base plate and use.

I am still excited about the product, works very well. I bought a new Jeep, had the appropriate base installed, and transferred the hitch over to the new Jeep. I had bought a cover and it has protected the hitch when on or off the Jeep. I recommend the Blue Ox products for your towing needs.

This tow bar works great after the year I've had it and still is as easy to put on and off my vehicle as when I first got it. Now that I'm practiced with it, I can have it on the car and hooked up and ready to go within 10 minutes. The parts hold up and the only ones I had to order were those I misplaced in my previous RV.

  • Recommended Flat Tow Setup for Blue Ox Tow Bar on 2008 Honda CR-V
For your 2008 Honda CR-V, you will want to start with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2246 which will be directly compatible with your tow bar. The tow bar you are describing is likely the old alpha or avail model, either of which will work just fine. If you want to determine which model you have, you can find it printed on the driver's side leg under the latch handle according to my contact at Blue Ox. If you don't have the safety chains, you will also want # BX88196....

  • How To Use Blue Ox Acclaim Tow Bar On 1999 Honda CR-V
In regards to the Blue Ox Acclaim Tow Bar part # BX4330, the width of the triple-lug connection is just a bit over 2-1/2". In order to use this tow bar on a 1999 Honda CR-V you'll need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit part # BX2218. If you don't already have a wiring harness, the Tow Ready Tail Light Isolating Diode System with 4-Pole Connector part # TR118821 is what I recommend.

If you have a Sport or Express instead you'd want the part # BX2409. You'll need a higher capacity tow bar too for your truck like the Blue Ox Alpha part # BX7380 which has a 6,500 lb capacity and would work well. This comes with safety cables too. • Difference in Blue Ox Acclaim vs. Alpha Tow Bars
Biggest difference is how they connect to the tow vehicle. The Alpha part # BX7380 slides into a hitch opening and the Acclaim # BX4330 connects to a hitch ball like a trailer does. The preferred method is the Alpha which allows you to fold the tow bar up on the tow vehicle and store it there when not in use. Aside from that the Alpha has a higher capacity of 6,500 lbs and the Acclaim is rated at 5,000 lbs.
