Hooking up doesn’t have to be a workout. The self-supporting, telescoping arms hold their own weight so you can line up one side at a time. Each arm extends from 39-1/4" to 51-3/4", reaching smoothly to your base plate tabs. When you pull forward, they automatically lock into place. And when you arrive, the non-binding release levers free the arms even on uneven ground—no yanking or fighting to get unhooked. It’s hitch and go, then park and relax.
A level tow setup means smoother tracking and less strain on both vehicles. This tow bar’s 1-1/2" built-in rise/drop and a head that tilts 3" up or down help keep things aligned without extra adapters. You can stay within that 3" guideline while saving the time and money of adding more hardware. It’s a simple way to keep your tow bar level and towing steady.
Tight campground loops and fuel station entrances are easier to handle when your tow bar gives you more room. The SD’s extra-long arms create a wider turning radius, so you can swing through corners without worrying about clipping anything. It’s a small design choice that makes a big difference every time you’re towing through tight spots.
The straight, vinyl-coated safety cables are built right into the tow bar and rated at 14,000 lbs. They stay off the ground, won’t tangle, and keep your setup neat. A storage rod holds your coiled electrical cord (sold separately) up and out of the way. When you’re done towing, the arms swing easily to either side and lock in place, keeping the back of your RV clean and organized.

The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

I purchased parts to turn my 2007 Minni Cooper into a toad. After selecting the items I was able to have an initial conversation to verify I had selected the correct parts. Would have gave it a full 5 stars if it would have actually fit into the receiver. Tried both my extension receiver and the OEM 2 inch receiver. Would not budge. Had to grind off the powder coating and then some. Now I need to then repaint to prevent rusting. I would have returned this if I didn’t need it now. Better quality control is needed on the e trailer brand. Guess I know it won’t rattle, lol. Buy a mainstream brand.
Fantastic- works like a dream
The wiring kit for the tow base kit was very well engineered and works very well. The videos for installing the base plate we're awesome step by step process and was very easily accomplished by someone with just a wrench and a drill and a few tools.
Everything was good except the fact that the tow bar would not go into the receiver as it was at its maximum 2-in Square and I'm not the only one that has this problem as others in our group have had the same issue.

Good design but poorly manufactured. Used on a single, multi-week trip: Bar stayed on the RV. Removed when we got home and the powder-coating has cracked and bar is showing rust inside and out. Chrome on extending arms is pitted and beginning to rust. Emailed etrailer but Cody informed me that I would have to ship it back at my expense without any commitment to replace! Disappointed with etrailer after years of previous purchases
Outstanding product and even better customer service! Two backyard mechanics installed baseplate and braking system with just one call to confirm proper wire connection. Total package works great.
About 5,000 miles on it so far and it works. Sometimes the quick release levers are hard to squeeze for 70+old hands. Same for the safety latch on the cables.
One word. Fabulous! The SD tow bar is a superior product. I don't want to say bad things about the most popular tow bar out there, but etrailer SD is just better engineering. I like it very much with the exception that getting the arms locked in is a little difficult for me. My previous tow bar locked in by moving forward and weaving left and right. This isn’t that easy. Once I got them locked in it worked flawlessly.
This tow bar has given excellent service. I tow a jeep behind a motorhome. Easy to hook up. You don't have to be "exactly" in position. Safety cables are heavy with heavy hooks. No issues. All very good.
This works great. Had a different one that was more expensive. It was harder to use. Highly recommend etrailer unit
Excellent product, easy adjustment for height by flipping around. Had to get a longer break away cable for my rv/jeep but other than that, product has been great, tows my Jeep Wrangler with no issues.
Tech support was easy to get ahold of,but took multiple calls to get someone to respond back,tech emailed customer service,but didnt contact me back.Overall it works ,put 300 miles with no issues
I love this tow bar, I have one that is probably 10 years old minimum and bought this one to replace it, easy to hitch and unhitch without binding!
