Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Roadmaster Battery Charged Line Kit for towed vehicles. Now this kit will allow up to 15 amps from your RV's battery to be used to maintain the charge of your towed car's battery while the car is being towed, and it does provide just 15 amps to avoid overcharging. This will connect the battery to your 6-way or 7-way plug at the front of your towed car. Receives the power from your RV, so it does require a separate charge line. Now if there's no charge line present in your RV, it will require Roadmaster's Motor Home Battery Line, which is part number RM-156-75, which we do sell separately on our website, and is listed on this product page as a related product. This part will include everything laid out here on the table. The 14 gauge wire, the split wire loom, the circuit breaker, all the hardware and connectors to hook it up, a couple of cable ties to take up any slack in the wiring, and even a nice set of detail installation instructions on how to install everything.

This part is made in the U.S.A. That should do it for the review on the Roadmaster Battery Charged Line Kit for towed vehicles.

I ordered all the parts required to safely flat tow out 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk from etrailer.com. The only part they didn't have was the Mopar Flat Tow Enhancement kit Jeep requires to flat tow this model. Ordering from them was great, the website is easy to use and I was able to locate all the pieces compatible with my specific vehicle. The expert recommendations help my decision choosing the right parts. I ordered from etrailer even though I found some of the parts on other websites a little cheaper. I chose to pay a little more because of all the effort etrailer has put into installation videos and guides. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn from etrailer that they have a price match guarantee! So my equipment consisted of the following Mopar Flat Tow Enhancement Kit (from Jeep) Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector - Trailer End WesBarg 7-Way, RV-Style Connector w/ 6' Long Coiled Cable Trailer End Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV Blade-Style Trailer Socket - Vehicle End Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar - Motor Home Mount - 6,500 lbs Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Blue Ox Tow Bar Cover - Aladdin, Aventa LX, Aventa II The installation videos are great but not all inclusive. Take the time to read the instructions that come with the parts. This is a major project, I took about 30 hrs over a full week but as you'll see in the pictures I took s few extra steps to make a cleaner look. Some of those extra steps: The base plate install requires the bumper be modified cutting off a flange on each side, I spray painted this to prevent corrosion. In the install video of the baseplate on the drivers side they use an extra quick link (not included) to run the safety cable around the wiper fluid reservoir. I took the time to remove it and run the safety cable behind it. I didn't want our nice new vehicle to look like it can be towed so I played the brake away switch and 7 way trailer plug behind the license plate, so when not being towed our vehicle looks great! Some things to be aware of. The Brake air cylinder that mounts to the brake pedal with four bolts may need longer bolts, it did on our Jeep. Spend the money for weather tight heat shrink crimp fittings. The Hopkins wire harness was about 1.5 feet short to get to my plug location. Buy extra zip ties, electrical tape and split loom. I recommend reading all the various installation manuals and watching all the videos because the various components integrate together and if you install one at a time you'll be doing a bunch of extra work. The brake light relay is a real pain in the butt, not because of the hardware but because of the location of the brake light switch which is very hard to get to. Overall I am very happy with the products and how the installation looks. We haven't towed it yet but do not expect any problems.

Still very happy with our purchase. We’ve towed over 10k miles and have had zero issues with our tow setup. I’ve shared my experience with several other RVrs and recommended your company for their needs. Thank you,

I am glade the products are available. I am happy with the guick shipping & delivery. However, there are a couple of issues with the rectifier I received with the towed vehicle charge kit I recever for my Chev Spark. 1. 2 self tapping screws were included in the kit. However, there are no tabs on the rectifier for the screws to attach the rectifier to the car. 2. The posts on the rectifiers are to long for attaching one ring terminal. 3. There should be rubber or plastic cover for the terminals to prevent accidentally shorting them. Other then these issues, I am grateful for the kits, if they work as planned it will be great. One less thing to do when towing my Chev Spark. I hope these issues will help improve your product.

I got this product in order to hook up a way to charge my car being pulled by my A class motor home. The product was received the way it was described on the web site. I have yet to get it hooked up but I see no problem with this seemly it looks to be quite an easy project. I have ordered several items from etrailer and have never been disappointed with their items. i will order from them again.

installation instructions were clear and very helpful, recommended if using a supplemental braking system to avoid having a dead battery in your tow vehicle when you arrive, also the possibility of your braking system and brake lights not working during travel

This was an easy install. etrailer is the most helpful company I have ever dealt with. We are just setting up a Jeep Wrangler for towing so we are learning as we go at the DIY. Bailey was great with her knowledge and helpfulness.

I needed this fast for an upcoming trip. eTrailer had it in stock and got it to me quick. I used this to run from my toad's motorhome 6-pin feed receptacle to the toad battery to keep the battery charged (my Blue Ox Patriot brake gets power from the toad 12v plug). I towed it 1400 miles and it kept my battery at full charge! It came with all the parts needed, however the provided wire was JUST enough to run from below my Wrangler's bumper up to the battery. If your vehicle has a longer run to the battery, you may need to buy some extra 14g red wire, but its widely available at hardware stores. My Wrangler's thick steel engine compartment sidewall proved too much for the "self-tapping" screws provided for the circuit breaker, but I just drilled pilot holes with a standard bit. Instructions were very clear and installation was a breeze.

I bought and installed base plate and wiring on a 2018 Ford C-Max hybrid car. The wiring was a little complicated due to the hybrid setup on the car, however, everything worked out well. I have done this on several other cars I have towed behind my motorhomes. All products and help from etrailer.com was excellent. The video presentation was very helpful.

This charge line kit has kept my Honda CR-V battery charged while under tow. The key must be turned to the unlock position so that the shift lever can be moved to neutral. This leaves accessories such as the GPS turned on. The charge line kit keeps my battery charged regardless of this drain on my battery.

I installed this baseplate on my 2003 Honda CRV myself. It was a challenge for an inexperienced mechanic but successful in spite of that. Following the clear instructions, the unit fit well into the CRV chassis. Installing it myself has also given me confidence in towing that I may not have had by giving that task to someone else. I wired the CRV and RV 6 way and 7 way connectors including power to charge the CRV's battery while towing. After towing the car for several thousand miles, I am very satisfied with the base plate, tow bar, and installation.

  • How to Keep Battery Charged While Flat Towing a 2015 Fiat 500
Great question! From what I could find in the owner's manual for a 2015 Fiat 500 (looking both at the Recreational/Flat Towing and Emergency Towing procedures) it does look like you need to keep the steering wheel unlocked while flat towing. Since this means your ignition is on, it can very well drain your battery. I'm not sure why this isn't something that is commonly known because even some of our flat towing manufacturers don't have this info on their site. I reached out to Roadmaster...

  • Does the Circuit Breaker In the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Need Grounded
In regards to the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-156-25, the included circuit breaker does not need to be mounted to a metal surface. The installation instructions are as follows, "Find a suitable mounting location for the included circuit breaker; it must be mounted on a flat surface, within approximately 6" of the vehicle’s battery (the closer the better), at a point where it will not interfere with the operation of any components.".

  • Does Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Need Terminal Covers at Circuit Breaker
The 12 volts you mentioned is indeed correct for the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25. As for the cover for the terminals, if I'm understanding correctly you are asking about covers for the ring terminals on the included circuit breaker. There isn't a cover as they are not needed for the installation; the ring terminals are secured by the nut on the breaker and should be positioned in a way that there isn't going to be any interference with other components.

While I can't give you a definitive answer as to how your shop chose to wire in the 12V accessory plug on the dash of your 2018 Chevy Equinox, I can say that it is highly unlikely that it's wired up to the 12V center pin on your 6-Pole connector.
