Features to know about

Smooth Backing-Up: Electric Reverse Lockout

Backing up your trailer can be a hassle, especially if your brakes engage every time. The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator comes equipped with an electric reverse lockout feature, allowing you to reverse without triggering the trailer's brakes. It works seamlessly when you shift into reverse, making backing up smooth and stress-free.

Corrosion's Worst Enemy: Zinc-Plated Protection

Don't let corrosion ruin your brake actuator. This Dexter actuator is zinc-plated, offering excellent corrosion resistance. It's designed to withstand harsh outdoor environments, ensuring a longer lifespan and reliable performance, whether you're braving salty marine air or winter roads.

Suppress Jerky Stops: Hydraulic Surge Activation

Say goodbye to jerky stops and starts. The hydraulic surge actuator system activates your trailer's brakes in synchronization with your tow vehicle's braking. As you decelerate, the actuator seamlessly engages your trailer's brakes, leading to a smoother and more controlled stop every time.

Versatile Coupling: Fits a Wide Array of Trailer Applications

Whether you're hauling a utility trailer, travel trailer, or boat, the 2-inch ball coupler and bolt-on design of the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 ensure it fits 3-inch wide trailer tongues with ease. It's engineered to accommodate a variety of applications, making it a versatile choice for all your towing needs.

Lift and Latch: Low-Profile Coupler Latch

Secure connections have never been easier with the low-profile coupler latch. This design ensures a secure latch that won't get in the way, giving you peace of mind that your trailer hitch is safely and properly engaged. Perfecting the coupling process one latch at a time.

Heavy-Duty Performance: 7,500 lbs Weight Capacity

For those heavy loads, rest assured the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 can handle it with its 7,500 lbs gross trailer weight capacity. Designed for robustness and reliability, it gives you the confidence to transport your equipment knowing it is well within safe operating limits.

  • Replacement For A Reliable ACT 7.5 KS Brake Actuator
At this time we do not carry a compatible inner member for your Reliable ACT 7.5 KS actuator so I recommend replacing it with the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR. This hydraulic actuator activates trailer's brakes when tow vehicle slows or stops and electric reverse lockout lets you back up without actuating trailer brakes.

That's a really good question, and there is a difference between the 7,500 lb Dexter DX7.5L A-60 actuators for disc brakes; the differences are both in what they fit, as well as their length. - 14" Long & Top-Mounted For 3" Wide Trailer Tongue: Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX89FR - 19" Long & Bolts To 3" x 4" Trailer Tongue: Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX29FR - 19" Long & Bolts To 3" x 5" Trailer Tongue: Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX56FR Apart from that, these...

  • Help With Installing Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator On Boat Trailer
The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Actuator # DX56FR you have is designed to be mounted on the end of the trailer frame as seen in the image below. Based on how your actuator was mounted the Actuator # DX89FR would best install like your current actuator. If you choose to continue with the actuator you have you will need to slide it onto the frame as seen in the image I attached and drill for all 4 holes.

  • Recommended Replacement For A UFP Model A-70 Brake Actuator
Hi Charles, While we don't currently offer the inner member that you're needing for the UFP A-70 we do offer a compatible replacement with the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX33FR. This is the entire actuator assembly along with the mounting sleeve. If you have an electric lockout out to back up without having to manually lockout the actuator then I recommend picking up the Solenoid Valve # T4748800 as well.

  • Replacement for TDE LP85 Surge Brake Actuator
Hi Chris; I believe the LP85 was integrated into the tongue of the trailer. Unfortunately, that means it won't be an easy swap to replace it since other actuators won't fit inside the trailer tongue and line up with the holes from your old actuator. The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX93FR you looked at will work as a replacement as long as a 7,500 lb capacity is high enough for your trailer. This is designed for disc brakes which I believe you have since the LP85...

  • Coupler Lock Recommendation For Dexter DX7 Coupler
Hello Bob, thanks for reaching out. We have a few option for locks that will fit the Dexter DX7 coupler. For a locking pin I recommend the etrailer Surge Brake Coupler Lock # e98888. This will allow you to lock the coupler to the ball. The picture below shows it installed on a similar Dexter surge brake coupler. If you are looking for a lock for while the trailer is in storage, I recommend the Blaylock EZ Lock Trailer Coupler Lock # BLTL-33. We have confirmed that this will fit on the...

  • Replacement Surge Brake Coupler Recommendation for a UFP A70
Hey Jim, The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator with Fill Cap # DX33FR will work as a replacement for your UFP A70 actuator if you have drum brakes. For disc brakes you're looking at part # DX89FR instead. The titles say "A-60" but these will work for both A-60 and A-70 actuators. Previously the A-"number" was for the weight capacity of the coupler; an A-60 was rated for 6K and an A-70 was rated for 7K. In the recent past Dexter consolidated everything to be rated for 7.5K so all of the...

  • Does The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout Have A Manual Lockout Option
The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR unfortunately doesn't have a manual lockout option so you wouldn't be able to reverse without activating the brakes on the trailer. To solve this issue you can either install 5-pole wiring on each tow vehicle to connect to the electric lockout or you can swap out the brakes on the trailer to free-backing brake assemblies. If you didn't hook up the electric lockout solenoid then you wouldn't be able to reverse with the trailer...

  • Is There 7,500 lb Surge Actuator For Disc Brakes With Grease Zerk
Correct, you do have to remove the inner assembly to grease the rollers of the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc # DX89FR. You would have to remove the retaining ring and its washer on the roller pins to then take out the inner assembly, and if you are looking for ease of use in that regard it isn't the most optimal. I know you said you liked the low profile, but if greasing the rollers is more important to you then you'd have to get a standard actuator,...

For a replacement option I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR. Any swing-away actuators like your ACT-7.5K have been discontinued so this is the best solution. This has a 7,500 lb trailer capacity, is designed for trailers with disc brakes, and is a bolt on replacement. • Tie Down LP7000 Brake Actuator Replacement
I do have an option for you but we don't offer any direct bolt-on swap options for the Tie Down Engineering LP7000 Actuator due to the age. That said, we do have plenty of great replacement options like the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator part # DX89FR but you'd have to drill a few new holes in the trailer. This actuator has a low profile design, is compatible with a 2" hitch ball, and is designed for disc brakes.

  • Replacement Brake Actuator for Tie Down Engineering LP7000
In terms of capability the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7.5K # DX89FR is a good replacement option. The problem is the design of your old TDE LP7000 which was installed inside the tongue of the trailer. The # DX89FR and others like it fit standard 3" wide trailer tongues. The actual inside dimension will be 3-1/8" to be able to go over the 3" tongue. With that 3-3/8" measurement you will not be able to fit a replacement actuator...

  • Option For Replacing Swing-Away Actuator On A 2005 Mastercraft Boat Trailer
We do have a potential solution for you. Unfortunately, the swing away actuators like the one on your 2005 Mastercraft trailer have been discontinued, so I am afraid there is no direct replacement, or anything that will fit inside the current swing away. At this point we would have to recommend replacing the tongue of the trailer entirely, all the way down to the swing away. • How to Replace Tie Down Engineering LP7000 Actuator
I'm guessing it is approximately 3-3/8" across if you measured it. Unfortunately there are no options that will slide in because it won't line up correctly, and everything is designed to fit a 3" tongue so it is too wide to mount an actuator on top. Although it is not ideal, the only solution is to cut that off and replace the tongue with a standard 3" trailer tongue. Once you have a 3" wide trailer tongue you will be able to install an actuator like the # DX89FR you were looking at.
