How Do I Hook Up the 2 Wires on My Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout?

Question:
My old brake actuator only has one wire. This one has two. Do you have a wiring diagram for how I am supposed to connect the two wires? Thanks

Hello Mike,
Your old brake actuator only had one wire because it grounded through the trailer frame, which was pretty common back in the day. Your new Dexter DX7.5L actuator # DX89FR has two wires coming off the electric lockout solenoid no worries, it’s super simple to hook up. The blue wire connects to your reverse light circuit (usually the center pin on a 7-way plug), and the white wire just needs to go to a good ground on your trailer frame. That way, when you shift into reverse, the solenoid kicks in and keeps your trailer brakes from locking up while backing up.
Let me know how the rest of the install goes. What kind of boat trailer is this going on?

Hi Mike, Did you get a chance to connect the wires on your new brake actuator? I'm curious to know how the installation went and what kind of boat trailer you're working with. Your experience could really help others with similar setups.
