Use this actuator to synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow-vehicle brakes. Over-center latch mechanism only engages when the actuator is fully seated on 2" hitch ball. Designed for hydraulic drum brakes and 3x3 or 3x4 straight tongue.
Features:
Specs:
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.
Because this model does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without triggering your trailer's brakes.

Hello, neighbor, Steven here with etrailer.com. Folks, we're looking at our Dexter DX 7.5 L model A60 brake actuator. It's a weld on application made for drum brakes only, and it fits a two inch ball size. It's rated at 7,500 pounds. Folks, this hydraulic actuator activates your trailer's brakes when the tow vehicle slows or stops. It is a low profile coupler latch.
It's very simple and easy to use. I'll show you that in a second. It has an over center latch mechanism that only engages when the actuator is fully seated on the hitch ball. The aluminum master cylinder inside of here is better at reducing corrosion than the cast steel master cylinders that are out there. It's got a nice raw finish.
It's just bare metal here, but it has been cleaned, and it's ready for priming and painting after you've welded it in place. Now it does have a manual lockout kit that is sold separately. It does not include it. You do get the manual lockout lever though. You get the hard plastic cover to cover the fluid cap and you get the nice breakaway cable with S hook.
Now because this model does not include a reverse lockout, I highly recommend you equip your trailer with either free backing brakes, that way you can drive in reverse without triggering your trailer's brakes. So again, folks, this is a hydraulic drum brake actuator that mounts on a three by three or a three by four inch straight tongue. It's rated for 7,500 pounds. And again, it fits a two inch ball size, so like I said earlier, this coupler is what's they called over center latch mechanism. So this guy here, you can see it's got a little nub there that you can push your finger on.
It's spring activated, and then that'll let it pop up. You have to pull the safety pin out obviously, I dunno if you kind of heard it pop down, but you obviously saw it pop up. And then once you go back over the ball and latch it, it's gonna pop it down, put the pin back in and you're ready to go. I like this. It's a nice low profile design. It keeps it nice and connected and I think it's just a lot smoother connection point myself. So I kinda like that. Again, the raw finish is nice because then you can paint it after you've primed it and after you've welded in place. Nice two year limited warranty from the manufacturer and it is made here in the us. Folks, I'm Steven. Thanks so much for looking with me today. I hope this information's been helpful, slightly educational maybe, and I do hope that you enjoy your new product. It's a great product by Dexter. I'm Steven again, have a great one.
Great fitment and great breaking power
