Features to know about

Smooth, Controlled Towing: High-Strength 2,000 lb Dexter Axle Beam

A worn or bent axle can make a trailer wander or bounce more than it should. This Dexter axle beam restores that steady control with a 2,000 lb weight capacity and high-strength steel construction. The built-in camber keeps your tires flat on the pavement for even contact across the tread, so your trailer tracks straight and runs smooth mile after mile.

Reliable Geometry That Fits Right: 72" Hub Face and 58" Spring Center

Getting the right fit is key when replacing an axle. This beam measures 72" from hub face to hub face and 58" from spring center to spring center, with the spring seats already welded in place for easy setup. The 1-3/4" outer-diameter round steel tube keeps the dimensions consistent and true for a solid installation that’s ready to roll.

Low, Easy-Loading Ride: Underslung Leaf-Spring Design

For trailers that haul gear or loads that need easy access, a lower ride height makes a big difference. The underslung design of this axle has the spring seats welded to the underside of the beam so your leaf springs (sold separately) mount below. That drops the trailer’s deck just enough to make loading and unloading quicker and safer without losing stability.

Straightforward Service and Compatibility: Standard 1-1/16" Spindles

Maintenance and hub swaps are simple thanks to the standard-size spindles. Each end uses both inner and outer L44649 bearings (sold separately), along with a matching 1-1/16" spindle size that works with common hub assemblies. The straight spindle profile and standard grease application make it easy to keep the bearings lubricated and rolling freely.

Built to Last and Backed by Dexter Quality

Every piece of this axle is welded and aligned for dependable performance. The precision-formed bend at the center sets the proper camber angle so the axle flexes naturally under load without over-stressing the steel. It’s a proven design that holds up to long-term use and comes backed by a limited 2-year warranty.

Great axle. Very pleased with it. I was shipped the wrong axle butt etrailer sent the correct one and I was able to ship the wrong one back later. Got me on the road a little quicker.
Other than that mishap,Ian pleased with the axle and would consider buying from etrailer in the future.

by:

The spring center spacing was 74" as advertised. However, the information page made it sound like using this for my 74.5" spring spacing would be no big deal. I did manage to get it to fit but I will be watching this closely. There should be a statement on all trailer axles that stresses the importance of proper spring center distance or explain what is all involved in changing the spring mounting seat location.

by:

Super easy to swap out with the old axle, the bearings fit the spindles perfect. The spring perches and the axle itself were straight, would and will purchase from again!

by:

Part was shipped and delivered in a very timely manner. Axle was an exact replacement for what I needed. Great service, quality product. Will definitely use etrailer again when the need arises.

by:

The axle was great, but I SCREWED UP the leaf springs. They understood my deli ma and sent out the springs I should have ordered. Most pleasant people I have ever dealt with.
Everything ships quick

I needed to replace a bent axle on my 16 ft dual axle utility trailer. The axle from etrailer.com was OEM and was a perfect fit. I've bought from etrailer.com before and will continue to do so. They offer great products at competitive price points with fast shipping and great customer service.

by:

Perfect. Exactly what I needed. Impressed by how well wrapped and package it was. Zero damage in shipping, not even a scratch

by:

Bought an aftermatcket motorcycle trailer. The axle was torn up and didn't seem to fit what the trailer frame was meant for. (Not sure what make or brand the trailer is.) Judging by the leaf springs on it I "assumed" this 60" long / 2,000lb axle would work...and it fit like a glove!
When I received the axle it was very well packaged so as not to damage it in shipping. When installing I noticed that the axle bolts were different than the old axle I was removing. I wound up calling eTrailer and they responded immediately. In addition, the nuts and bolts sent with the axle were something I wasn't sure how to install. The eTrailer rep walked me through it and we discovered I was missing one of the nut locks. He immediately shipped me another at no charge.
I've used eTrailer over the years and, although I'm not a "regular" customer (just a DIY'er) they have been an outstanding company that truly focuses on customer service, which is almost non-existent with most companies today.
I highly recommend eTrailer and, take some time to browse their website! You can find some pretty unique and amazing products that you only thought, "Man, if someone ever made a ___.", and they just may have it!

Was having trouble locating an axle assembly for my Carry-On utility trailer. Got the part number off the old axle and was able to find the EXACT axle from etrailer.com at a really good price. Ordered with PayPal and received it within 3 business days. No struggle, no hassle. Very simple and easy to use website for all of your trailer needs!!!

I haven't received it yet and don't have a tracking number that I know of

  • Replacement Axle for LoadRite Boat Trailer
I looked up the LoadRite parts and they have torsion axles and traditional spring axles. If you have a trailer that has the springs centered at 58 inches on center and is 1-1/2 inches square, then the axle is a 2,000 lb axle and you would use the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with Standard Spindles - 72" Long - 2,000 lbs # T20BTR-7258 with hardware # APUBR-10. If you have different axle, give me those measurements and I'll try to assist by comparing parts. Overall length, style of springs...

  • Installing Dexter Trailer Axle T20BTR-7258 In Application Where Spring Seats Need to be Opposite
Since you need the spring seat on the opposite side of the trailer axle part # T20BTR-7258 that you referenced you'd need to either have the spring seat that's on it removed and attached on the other side of it or have new ones like the part # TRSS175 welded to the opposite side. The bow in the axle allows it to flatten out once the weight of the trailer is put on it. This is why you can't just flip the axle over.

  • Replacement 2k Dexter Axle for Boat Trailer
Hey Craig! Have you already identified the axle through Dexter or measured it yourself? If it is 72" long with a 58" spring center and uses # L44649 inner and outer bearings then the # T20BTR-7258 will work as a replacement. You can also keep your current hubs. If your length and spring center match but you have # L44643 bearings you need the # 20545I-EZ-72-15 that comes with new hubs.

  • How to Choose Correct Trailer Axle
Hello James, In order to choose the correct replacement axle for your trailer you will need to know the dimensions of your current axle's hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center; I have added a link below to a video which walks you through how to measure. The other thing you need to know is the weight capacity of the axle you need, which should match or exceed the GVWR of your trailer. Just as an example, the Dexter Trailer Axle # T20BTR-7258 has a 2,000 lb capacity and...

  • Why Dont 2,000 Lb Trailer Axles Comes with a Brake Mounting Flange
A 2,000 lb trailer axle like the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam part # T20BTR-7258 is not going to come equipped from the manufacturer with a brake mounting flange because of the weight of the trailer it is designed to be used on. However, most qualified welders can add the brake mounting flange part # 4-34 for a very small fee. The Dexter Trailer Axle has a 2,000 lb weight capacity, 58" spring center, and 72" hub face length. It uses a L44649 bearing on both the inner and outer seats. Once...

  • Replacing Dexter 2K Trailer Axle with 70" Hub Length and 58-1/2" Spring Seat Length
The Dexter 2,000 Pound Axle # T20BTR-7258 that you referenced is the closest standard axle beam option we have available to the specs you listed for your existing/old unit and it should work well as a replacement. The slightly longer 72" hub face length is just going to push the hubs a bit further out (1" on each side), which won't affect anything with regards to function but just something you should be aware of. It would also allow you to get wider tires down the road if you ever wanted...

  • Can I Relocate The Spring Seats On Axle To Where Spring Leafs Are Located To Widen Trailer
When positioning a 2000 pound trailer axle like # T20BTR-7258, it is recommended that the hub face to spring seat measurement falls between 5.75" to 7.625" on each side. (11.50" to 15.25" total on both sides). (see picture). As long as your axle is within those parameters you will still be able to utilize all 2000lbs weight capacity of the axle. If you go beyond those measurements you could jeopardize the integrity of the axle.

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement Axles for Older Trailer
When it comes to replacement parts for trailers - no matter if they're cool vintage ones like your 1968 Silver Streak Sabre or new, off-the-lot trailers - there isn't any type of database or other method that is available to know what is needed, which means some information and measurements are needed to make sure you get the right parts. I wasn't able to find an exact GVWR of this trailer, but it looks like it is in the 3,500 lb range; you'll need to verify this but if it is true, that...

  • Can I Put Hydraulic Brakes on a 2,000 lbs Axle?
Yes and no. The issue with 2,000 lbs axles like the Dexter Trailer Axle item # T20BTR-7258 is that they don't come with a brake flange item # 4-34. You can add one but this is something you will need to rely on a professional welder to do if you don't have experience. If you would like to give me some dimensions of the axle you're needing and your lug pattern I would be happy to make some recommendations for you. Feel free to email me directly.

  • Is There A 2,000lb Axle With A 72" Hub Face And 59" Spring Seat Measurement
The axles we carry with a 72" hub face measurement, like Dexter Axle # T20BTR-7258, only come with a 58" spring seat measurement. I recommend double checking your spring seat measurement to see if it really is 59" and not 58" when measuring from center to center. If it really is 59" then you can just have a local fabricator custom make you an axle or just have them cut the spring seats off of the axle and weld them back on with a 59" spacing.

  • Info Needed to Pick Out Replacement Axle, Leaf Springs, Hub/Drum, and Brake Assemblies for Trailer
To pick out an axle you'd need to know the length of the axle from hub face to hub face as well as the distance between spring seat centers and the capacity of the axle. For leaf springs you'd need to know the axle capacity and the current length of the springs. For the hub that is also based on the axle capacity and the trailer wheel bolt pattern. Once you know the correct hub/drums you'd be able to find the correct brake assemblies.

  • Reducing Overall Trailer Weight By Replacing Beam Axle with Timbren Axle-Less Suspension
A standard beam axle made for a leaf spring suspension will vary only slightly more in its actual weight, depending on its carrying capacity, than two Timbren axle-less systems of different capacities. This is because as weight ratings increase a beam axle tends to have a larger diameter and more steel, which makes it heavier. With Timbren kits there will be a bit less of a weight difference. For instance, Timbren 3500-lb-rated kit # ASR35HDS02 has a shipping weight of 152-lbs, while their...

  • Replacement Axle with Hydraulic Drum Brakes on a 2,200 Lb Boat Trailer
I have the perfect replacment trailer axle for your boat trailer. For this, I recommend using the Dexter Trailer Axle part # T20BTR-7258. The Dexter trailer axle measures 72" from the face of each hub and 58" from the center of each spring seat. The measurements you gave are likely the same as what is listed above because the start of each measurement could vary slightly from person to person. We have straight axles that are close to the measurements you have provided, see link, but the spring seats would have to be moved and none of them have brake mounting flanges. I propose a different approach by using a Timbren axle-less system # ASR2KHDS01. They are also set up for electric brakes. The...
