Replacement 2k Dexter Axle for Boat Trailer

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/03/2025

Question:

Hello I have a Dexter 2000 lb axle P-21 SLR serial D 4361318 that I need to replace. It’s on my boat trailer. Can I use the hubs from it to install on your axle T20BTR-7258. My hubs are fine but the axle is bent. Didn’t know if this would work or if I need to just go with the entire axle assembly 20545-EZ-72-15. Thanks for your suggestion

Hey Craig! Have you already identified the axle through Dexter or measured it yourself? If it is 72" long with a 58" spring center and uses # L44649 inner and outer bearings then the # T20BTR-7258 will work as a replacement. You can also keep your current hubs. If your length and spring center match but you have # L44643 bearings you need the # 20545I-EZ-72-15 that comes with new hubs.

Hey Craig, how did things turn out with the Dexter axle on your boat trailer? Were you able to match the length and bearing sizes so your original hubs fit the T20BTR-7258? Your update could make it easier for others replacing a similar axle.
