Features to know about

Steady Tracking on Every Trip: 60" Hub Face and Zero-Camber Design

A balanced trailer tracks straighter and wears tires evenly. This 60" Dexter axle beam is built with a precise bend at the center to set the correct camber angle, keeping your tires flat against the pavement for even tread contact. The result is smooth, steady, in-line towing that holds true mile after mile.

Reliable Weight Support for Light-Duty Hauling: 2,000-lb Capacity Strength

When you need dependable performance for small or mid-size builds, this axle’s 2,000-lb weight rating gives you the strength you need without extra bulk. The high-strength steel beam forms the core of the suspension system, providing a solid base to carry consistent loads with confidence.

Simplified Setup That Fits Right: 48" Spring Centers with Welded Seats

No guesswork on spacing—this axle comes ready for action with spring seats already welded at 48" centers. The underslung configuration mounts leaf springs to the underside of the axle for a lower deck height that makes loading and unloading easier and quicker.

Built to Last and Easy to Match: Standard Spindles and Common Bearings

Straight standard spindles make hub pairing simple. Each end accepts inner and outer bearings L44649, with a spindle size of 1-1/16". Whether replacing worn components or fabricating a new setup, these common specs mean an easy fit with widely available hub options.

Solid Foundation for Custom Builds: 1-3/4" Round Steel Tube Construction

For hobby trailers or utility projects, this 1-3/4" diameter round steel axle gives a sturdy starting point for your suspension. The welded spring seats and spindles save time during assembly, and the clean, straightforward design ensures reliable performance for years of use.

Bought an aftermatcket motorcycle trailer. The axle was torn up and didn't seem to fit what the trailer frame was meant for. (Not sure what make or brand the trailer is.) Judging by the leaf springs on it I "assumed" this 60" long / 2,000lb axle would work...and it fit like a glove!
When I received the axle it was very well packaged so as not to damage it in shipping. When installing I noticed that the axle bolts were different than the old axle I was removing. I wound up calling eTrailer and they responded immediately. In addition, the nuts and bolts sent with the axle were something I wasn't sure how to install. The eTrailer rep walked me through it and we discovered I was missing one of the nut locks. He immediately shipped me another at no charge.
I've used eTrailer over the years and, although I'm not a "regular" customer (just a DIY'er) they have been an outstanding company that truly focuses on customer service, which is almost non-existent with most companies today.
I highly recommend eTrailer and, take some time to browse their website! You can find some pretty unique and amazing products that you only thought, "Man, if someone ever made a ___.", and they just may have it!

Love hearing that everything worked out with the axle swap and that our team could help get you sorted quickly Daniel. Sounds like a perfect fit and a solid upgrade for that trailer. We really appreciate you sticking with us over the years and sharing your experience! What kind of bike are you hauling on the trailer?

by:
very nice .handled well. I didn't like the position of the mount box ... I thought it should be on both sides. For me, since I created a custom trailer for a dinghy. The mounts when installed properly, sat to low. So, it worked for on the reverse but that meant the cam was reverse.

Stacy of etrailer was fantastic. I did not know much about trailer repair parts but Stacy walked me through explaining the parts names and usage for the items I needed and when I checked other sites they did not have my products nor did they ship for free. Great experience!

Outstanding customer service and very good products at good prices. Shipping was super fast
by:
Haven’t put it on but it’s longer overall but shorter spring center so it will be tricky to get it done correctly and so that it is angled or crooked.

How sweet it is

by:
Super easy to swap out with the old axle, the bearings fit the spindles perfect. The spring perches and the axle itself were straight, would and will purchase from again!
by:
I haven't received it yet and don't have a tracking number that I know of
by:
The spring center spacing was 74" as advertised. However, the information page made it sound like using this for my 74.5" spring spacing would be no big deal. I did manage to get it to fit but I will be watching this closely. There should be a statement on all trailer axles that stresses the importance of proper spring center distance or explain what is all involved in changing the spring mounting seat location.
by:
Great axle. Very pleased with it. I was shipped the wrong axle butt etrailer sent the correct one and I was able to ship the wrong one back later. Got me on the road a little quicker.
Other than that mishap,Ian pleased with the axle and would consider buying from etrailer in the future.

  • How to Obtain a Custom Trailer Axle
The compatible 2K 'off the shelf' axles we carry would have a 60 or a 72 inch hub face dimension or a 48 or 58 spring center dimension. You'll need a custom axle, which we don't carry. If you'd care to reply and provide your city, state and zip code, I'd be happy to direct you to a local Dexter Axle distributor that can order an axle for you.

  • How to Determine Spring-Center and Hub-Face Measurements when Building a Trailer
It sounds like you are heading in the right direction. To decide where your springs seat will be you will need to mock up your trailer as if you were installing all of the equipment on it. Once you have the suspension part mocked up you will want to measure the distance between the middle of your hangers since that is where the middle of your spring seats will be. If that measures 48 inches, like you believe it will, then you will just need to find what the hub-face dimensions are needed. To...

Since you want to change your trailer hubs to the 5-on-4-1/2 bolt pattern I suggest you select a 60-inch axle kit that includes idler hubs, such as one of the two kits shown on the linked page. These two 2K-rated axle kits include 5-on-4-1/2 hubs, bearings, races, seals, lug nuts and bearing grease. Kit # 20545I-ST-60-10 works with 8- to 10-inch wheels and kit # 20545I-ST-60-15 works with wheels from 12- to 15-inches diameter. If you trailer's existing axle is installed below your leaf...

The etrailer Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs # e84YR is different than the 2,000lb Dexter 6047 axle. This axle is closer to the Dexter # T20BTR-6048 with the 48" spring center to spring center measurement. Both have 60" hub faces with a underslung design. The only difference to the 6047 is going to be the spring center distance.

  • Can Trailer Spindle be Bent Back In Place
If a spindle is bent you cannot bend it back in place. Replacing the axle would be the best route. You are going to need to measure your current axles in a few places to get the correct one as we don't have access to what your numbers reference. You will need to measure from hub face to hub face and then from the spring seat centers. You will also need to know what bolt pattern you have on your current hubs. I attached a help article on how to determine this as well. I also attached...

  • Can a 2,000 Pound Trailer Axle be Fitted with Electric Brakes and 10 or 12 Inch Wheels
You would need to step up to a 3500 pound set up to get an axle that comes with brake mounting flanges. You could have brake mounting flanges welded to a 2K axle if you wanted but it is a precision job that requires the proper equipment and someone who has performed this job before. So for example you could use axle # T20BTR-6048 with hub and drum assembly # 8-257-5UC3. then you would need brake mounting flange # 4-34 and brake assemblies # 23-47 and # 23-48. I do have an excellent option for you but it isn't a traditional axle. I recommend going with a Timbren axle-less system such as # TASR35HDS06 which takes the place of an axle beam. It will also replace the suspension with rubber suspension parts that won't wear out or corrode. This system and others do have brake mounting flanges. • Upgrading The Axle On A Harbor Freight 48"x 96 Trailer
To determine fit, the width of your trailer should be the same as the spring seat center to center measurement on the axle (48 inches). The # T20BTR-6048 lines up fine there. If these bearings fit your hubs, inner bearing L44649 and outer bearing L44649 would be compatible with this axle. The hubs on this axle should accommodate 12 inch wheels with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern.
