CURT Trailer Brake Controller - C64QV

Highlights

  • Custom Fit for Your Vehicle: Works with your vehicle's existing wiring.
  • Smooth, controlled stops: Proportional braking matches your trailer’s braking with your vehicle.
  • Confident towing on any terrain: 3-axis accelerometer adjusts braking for hills and slopes.
  • Quick, no-splice setup: Custom harness plugs into your vehicle’s factory brake control port.
  • Easy to see settings: Large LED display shows gain (0.5–9.9) and diagnostics at a glance.
  • Compact fit in your cab: Slim 1"-thick unit mounts flush under dash with included bracket.

Features to know about

Keeps Your Cab Clean: Slim, Flush-Mount Design

Clunky brake boxes can crowd the driver’s side, but this controller mounts flush to the dash and is only 1" thick. The compact housing tucks neatly under the dash using the included bracket and hardware, so it looks clean and stays out of the way. The controls are simple—two rocker switches for gain and load, a pinch trigger for manual override, and a bright LED display that’s easy to read at a glance.

Tows Smooth and Steady: 3-Axis Proportional Braking

With an internal 3-axis accelerometer, braking feels balanced and natural. The controller senses how hard your tow vehicle slows down and matches that effort so your trailer brakes in sync. No jerky push-pull feeling—just smooth, even stops whether you’re cruising flat highways or heading downhill. It works with up to 4 axles (8 brake assemblies) and supports electric trailer brakes for consistent performance.

Fine-Tunes Control for Every Load: Adjustable Gain and Load Settings

You can dial in exactly how much braking power you need for your trailer weight. Gain adjusts on a scale of 0.5 to 9.9 in 0.5-step increments using the gray rocker switch. Then the black rocker switch lets you set load control from 1 to 9 to change how aggressively the brakes reach full power. Together, these settings give precise control—light braking when unloaded or strong stopping power when fully loaded.

Close-up of Curt TriFlex NEXT trailer brake controller showing LED display and rocker switches for gain and load adjustment, mounted under vehicle dash.

Prevents Problems Before They Start: Built-In Safety Protections

The TriFlex NEXT continuously monitors for shorts or wiring faults and protects against reverse polarity to keep your system safe. During long stops, it automatically reduces power output to prevent trailer brakes from overheating. After five minutes of inactivity, it enters sleep mode to minimize battery drain, then wakes instantly when you press the brake pedal.

Installs Fast with Custom Plug-In Harness: No Hardwiring Needed

The included custom adapter harness connects directly to your vehicle’s factory brake control port under the dash. Just plug one end into the port and the other into the TriFlex NEXT—no splicing or extra wiring required. Automatic leveling means it can mount at any angle while still working accurately, making setup straightforward from start to finish.

What is Proportional Braking?

Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.

All the information I needed was on your site. Got the correct adapter cable and was able to just plug in the controller.

by: Fred, GMC 1500 truck05/07/2025

I’ve use the electric brake system several times over the last year. I was impressed at how easy it was to use, and how much safer it was when braking. It was easy to install and worked great

by: Robert06/30/2025

Easy to install, had no glitches. Replace an older brake controller.

by:

True to the description. Plugged right into the dash and worked.

by:

it is very small so it does not interfere with the driver space

by: Chris05/11/2025

This unit took less than 10 minutes to install and works flawlessly with my Grand Cherokee while pulling a Travel Trailer. Plus its low profile design made it easy to install by the hood release so I don't have a big box and display on top of my dashboard. Great product at the right price. Highly recommend this brake controller and etrailer.

Works well. The connector I got from e trailer which fits other older model Audi’s wasn’t listed to fit the 2024 Audi but fit perfectly. The Curt Triflex is an easy to use brake controller. Highly recommend!

by:

I bought this brake controller and I love it i received it and put on and tested the brake and left pulling my g19fd rv and on the road my camper started to sway i never touched the foot brake I just touch the button on the brake for the camper and it got in line and I continued to roll on

by:

I really like this one better than the other (techonsha) I have used for a long time this one is easy to setup and use and it has a better proportion sense than I am used to. Well worth the money, I haul many different loads and it works as well for all.

by: Lee04/22/2024

Arrived as planed and was much smaller then my old clunky one. The custom cable harness was easy to install. Finding a flat spot to mount the controller took the longest to find the perfect spot. I gave a five stars because every was as it said. (Plug and play)

Great brake controller for the price. Easy to install with the video. Customer service was very prompt and kind.

by: Timothy04/22/2021

I've had the brake controller in use for over a year in my 2012 Nissan Frontier. The install was easy and took about an hour. My truck is a 2WD model so I mounted the controller in the plug that is used to select between 2WD and 4WD on vehicles equipped with 4WD. So the install look like factory.

by:

Worked as expected and saved me a lot of money on installation. It is good quality so far on the initial test run. Excited to make good use of this.

This is a new model of the Curt TriFlex brake controller. As a replacement for the previous unit, it was nice to be able to install it without rewiring. The new model has a more modern style digital display that is easier to read and less annoying. The button controls are a bit less obvious than the previous model, so it takes a little effort to figure out how to adjust the system. Overall, I think it's a better unit that the previous models.

by:

Easy plug-play installation.
Unit works
great with my dump trailer.

by: Larry03/21/2026

Hard to tell. For my 2018 Armada the power input and output was not reaching the controller properly. I took it to a shop that installs Curt products. They added a diode to one of the wires. They told me some vehicles need it some don’t. When the controller was in my Ram, it didn’t. After hours of diagnosis, they strongly believe my vehicle has a wiring problem. In the end I ended up getting the Curt Echo which works. A lot cheaper than going to the dealer to figure out wiring issues.

  • How Does Curt TriFlex NEXT Brake Controller Mount
You're right, the mounting bracket is unique (in a good way) for the Curt TriFlex NEXT Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV. The bracket is smaller and all you do is put the included adhesive tape on the bracket and stick it wherever you like under your dash. Screws are also included and you can use them with the adhesive to mount the bracket under your dash. Then you'll simply slide in the TriFlex NEXT controller and that's it. This type of bracket takes up less space than the normal U-shaped...

The Curt Triflex brake controller is known to have more problems than other brake controllers so I would not rule out the problem being the controller. Hello Kevin, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you have already done the most helpful troubleshooting step by hooking up another controller and verifying that everything works fine. • Can You Transfer a Trailer Brake Controller from Ford to Chevy?
Hi Dan, Yes, you can absolutely reuse an aftermarket trailer brake controller like part # C24VV when switching from a Ford to a Chevy, so you don’t necessarily have to wait. The controller itself is universal, but the part that usually changes is the vehicle specific wiring harness. Because it's connected to a constant 12-volt power source, the LED you mention will remain illuminated after the vehicle is shut off. This is normal, and does not indicate a problem of any kind. After 15 or so minutes of inactivity, the brake controller goes into a 'sleep' mode, and will reactivate next time the brake pedal is pressed. This is a common issue when there is corrosion built up on the brake output pin of the 7-way. For a basic but great brake controller the Brake EVN # TK63VR would work well in your 2013 Nissan Frontier. It would install to the factory wiring of your vehicle with the part # 3050-P which plugs in under the dash. It comes with hardware to easily attach to the console as well. For a brake controller with an even smaller foot print that installs with just a small knob on the dash of the vehicle the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty part # RED24FR would be a great option that would install with...

  • How Can I Tell if My 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Came With Factory Tow Package
All 2013 Nissan Pathfinders came pre-wired for a tow package, so we know your Pathfinder at least has something. If your Pathfinder came with the tow package option from the dealer, then you would have a trailer hitch and trailer wiring at the back of the Pathfinder. Since you are asking for a wiring kit, I'm guessing you need the wiring still. For this I recommend the Curt 7-Way Wiring Harness, # C56357, if you want a 7-pin trailer connector or the Curt 4-Way Wiring Harness, # C56281,...

  • How to Set a 2012 Nissan Frontier Up for Towing a Trailer with Brakes
You are correct in that you will need to use a brake controller in order to operate the brakes on a trailer. The Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller part # C74VV is a fit for your 2012 Nissan Frontier and will not require any splicing so long as you also use the Curt Custom Wiring Adapter part # C51382. The relays and jumper harness that you are referring to are not included with the brake controller and will need to be purchased separately. If your Frontier came with a factory 7-way...

  • Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Says Not Connected to Trailer
Since your trailer's brakes worked on another truck that would indicate that the problem is on the truck side of the equation. First and easiest thing to check is to check for corrosion on your truck's 7-way. Some fine grit sandpaper can easily remove any corrosion that would prevent the connetion from being made. Testing the brake controller is fairly easy. Sever the blue brake output wire near the brake controller leaving enough room to reconnect it and then apply the manual slide....

  • Problems With Curt Echo And Brake Controller Recommendation For A 2022 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum
Hello Hugues, thanks for reaching out. Generally, with the Curt Echo wireless controller, the error codes it throws are pretty accurate. A bit of play at the trailer connector could explain the intermittent issues you are having. Since the trailer is brand new it is hard to believe that a wiring issue would be the cause, unless it came off the lot that way. Sometimes the contacts in the vehicle trailer connector can become loose- same on the trailer side. The only real way to fix this would...

  • Recommended 7-Way and Brake Controller for a 2019 Nissan Frontier
The wiring that I recommend installing on your 2019 Nissan Frontier so that you have a fully functioning 7-Way is the Tekonsha T-One # 118266 because it is the most reliable option available. This comes with the wiring and relays needed for the installation but you may be interested in the mounting brackets # PK12711U and # C57202 as well to easily mount the 7-Way. If you don't already have a brake controller then I recommend going with the Curt Spectrum # C51170 because it is a proportional...

  • What is a Great Brake Controller for 2022 Nissan Pathfinder with Factory Tow Package?
Hello Brian, Yes, there is a plug-in adapter for the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, I see that Curt is the only one that makes it. I recommend the Curt Spectrum Brake Controller # C99GV, this brake controller is proportional so it works in sync when you apply your brakes, it comes with the vehicle specific harness for the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, but my favorite feature is the adjustable knob. It's nice having the knob in an easily accessible spot not just to adjust the sensitivity of the brakes,...

Hey Jason, thanks for your question. We have a really great option for your 2014 Nissan Titan. • Plug-And-Play Brake Controller Option For 2024 Nissan Pathfinder With Factory Tow Package
Hey thanks for reaching out, Chris. As of right now, Curt is the only brake controller manufacturer that makes a plug-and-play harness for the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder. So our best option for a plug in controller is the Curt TriFlex Next # C64QV since it comes with the plug-in adapter. If you want to continue to use your Tekonsha Primus IQ, you can still used it but you would need to remove the OEM brake control plug and hardwire the controller using the Universal Pigtail # 20127.

  • Can Aftermarket 4-Way Kit for 2019 Nissan Pathfinder be Upgraded to 7-Way
Hey Jordan, if you have the # C56281 currently you can pretty easily swap to a 7-way using the part # C56357 and you wouldn't have to install all of the kit as a lot of it duplicates what you have already. Realistically you would just be using the 7-way and the main harness that comes with it. Then you can use the wiring of the kit to install the brake controller # C64QV you mentioned as well. What are you towing?

Hey Stephen, thanks for reaching out. It is possible to transfer the Curt TriFlex NEXT Trailer Brake Controller # C64QV over to your 2019 Chevy Traverse, but Curt does not make a custom harness for a Traverse. So, what you'll have to do is hardwire in one of the Universal Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers part # C51515. You might want to pick up a new mounting bracket part # C24MJ too. That'll allow you to easily swap the controller between vehicles. Does your Traverse...
