Question:
I am confused with looking at al the questions and products. Looks like a few conflicting answers. I have a trailer with a 7-pin connector and trailer brakes. I have a break controller, Tekonsha Primus IQ, already from another vehicle I would like to use. The 2024 Santa Cruse does not have a built in controller as part of its harness, at least not that I know of. It is recommended to buy the # C68JR on your site but I am not seeing how the controller would be wired into this. I am questioning if the # C68JR is actually compatible with the Santa Cruse or not. What do I need for this situation?

Hello Evan, I can help clear this up. The Curt T-Connector # C68JR that you mentioned is for vehicles already equipped with the factory tow package. Meaning there will be an OEM brake controller plug already present under the dash and the brake controller would simply plug right in.
So, if you do have the factory tow package, you can easily install the # C68JR wiring harness. Then for example, you can use a brake controller like the Curt TriFlex # C24VV, along with the Custom Wiring Adapter # C77BR for a plug and play install. To install your Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160, you would need to remove the OEM brake controller plug and hardwire the controller. Unfortunately, the plug-and-play adapter from Tekonsha is currently unavailable.
If you do not have the factory tow package things will work a bit differently. You would need to install the Curt T-Connector # C59236, along with the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7. This will include everything you need to install the 7-pin along with all of the necessary wires for a brake controller. From there you can simply hardwire your Primus IQ brake controller.
